Yeah. That's really fuking sad man. Seems like the Cougar crossed into his territory so the dog had to fight him off. Poor dog...The amazing thing about dogs is their confidence to take on anything. Dogs will literally fight bears to protect their territory. Often, their confidence alone is enough to scare predators away. But in a fight, the dog will lose against bears and big cats, especially solo. In a group, dogs/wolves are extremely powerful though.

LOL I watched my 3 legged 10 lb cat destroy an adult German Shepherd that was trying to rag-doll him. That dog was shredded to pieces with big chunks of its face hanging of withing seconds...tried to run for its life but my cat would not let it get away. At first I laughed at the dog thinking "that's what you get fukker" but after a couple of minutes of my cat mangling it and the crying from the dog, I actually felt bad for it.

Now try on a 100 - 150 lb cat...yeah right. LOL @ stupid fukkin idiots in this thread.

my aunt lives in Texas and works with a zoo. She has a giant property and will often help take care of animals. I was lucky enough that I got to pet and touch baby tigers. I noticed that just running triggers something inside of them and they'll chase anything. When they were on my aunts property she had this giant pig. Well anyways these fkers legit chase anything that moved except this pig. If they tried to approach the pig he'd just get all pissed off and charge em. They would get all shook and not know what to do. Confronting some animals makes them hesitant. Doesn't work with everything though, you can and should confront a black bear but if its a grizzly don't even think about it. I've seen videos of moose charging dudes and the only reason the guy survived was because he charged back. Takes balls of steel but I guess thats what it takes to survive these types of encounters

I believe that this is exactly what most would try to do. Instinct says you would put your arm in front of your face/neck as that is where the lion would go first. However, the pain in your arm would be overwhelming and by the time you went to gouge its eye with your other hand, your guts would by laying at your feet as it clawed your belly with its hind legs. All of you bare handed lion killers always seem to forget about the hind legs. Watch any large cat attack video, whenever they are undersized they go for the head/neck and rake the rest of the body with their hind legs.

Against a smaller mountain lion, I agree that a joocey dude like you (no homo) may indeed survive the attack and force the cat to run off, but you will not avoid serious injuries. Even worse is the fact that a smaller mountain lion would have its hind legs roughly in line with your junk as you're holding it off with your arm. Your eye gouging game plan goes right out the window when a claw punctures a nad.
