yeah, i'm doing a 4-tiered drop set bro-split on everything until i can't lift 5lbs. true failure. hitting the same thing more than once a week makes me move backward. reps on everything are slowly increasing. i've for sure lost fat on my arms but the measurement has not changed srs

srs check my sig, you can lose ridiculous amounts of weight in a matter of a few weeks with PSMF. But it's also super easy to gain it back, and develop some unhealthy habits or perceptions. Not for everyone.

that's impressive, but a lot of that is water. i had already been eating like this for a week before oct 1, so water weight wasn't a factor.

Actually that before photo is before I started dieting at all, in mid december. It's about 5 weeks between photos. I was 207 in the before photo, and dieted to 202 in two weeks, then started a 3 week psmf cycle.

Fasting is not like cutting calories. When you cut calories, your body will slowly adapt and by adapt I mean shut down less "necessary" metabolic functions. You'll be constantly hungry, feel cold have lower energy, things that you might already be experiencing. Go long enough, your sex functions stop functioning well (i.e. dick doesn't dick anymore), maybe lose hair, etc... it can get brutal.

However, when you fast - and this means 0 calories, just water, maybe some tea or coffee, your body reacts VERY differently.

- You enter ketosis within a few days, your body switches from burning glucose to ketones and pure fat for energy
- You get a positive spike in hormones. One specifically is HGH, growth hormone, which promotes fat burning and puts you in a muscle-sparing state

... essentially, once you commit to burning just fasting, there is a significant difference than if you are grazing with a low-calorie diet. Those low calorie diets work, but only to a point and slowly ruin your metabolism. With your low muscle mass ratio, you'd need to CICO-diet for a long while, I don't see you sustaining a long cut and not experiencing massive side effects to your metabolism.

Meanwhile, fasting? That will burn a lot of fat, it will keep your dick working and it will be muscle sparing. Will you gain a lot of muscle if you're fasting 1/2 the time? No. No you won't, but looking at you - you're not anyway and right now your goal is to get lean.

Were I you:

- I would post my training routine and get some advice. You're doing it wrong, just like I accurately predicted you were measuring your waist 100% fuked up and wrong. You need some help my man, we're here for you. We like you. We want to help you. Let us help you.

- I would phase carbs out of my diet. I know keto isn't the Be-All-End-All some people make it out to be, but for fat loss it is quite effective. Looking at your body, you have some issues and probably some level of metabolic syndrome, you need to address that. Keto diets for someone like you (and for what I am going to recommend you also do below) will help.

- I would start fasting. OMAD at first. Then introduce short 36-44 hour fasts. Then longer 2-3 day fasts. Get to the point where you're eating big nutrient dense meals only a handful of times a week. Fast. Fast. Fast. If you enter these fasts already in a ketogenic state, you will jumpstart and almost immediately be burning 100% fat (usually your body must deplete glycogen stores, there is a short period where it creates glucose from proteins which you don't want and then after a few days you then shift into ketosis -- by being already ketosis, you skip right to the good stuff).

Calories-In-Calorie-Out Eat Less Move More style diets work well for some, but not you. Looking at your oversized belly, you have metabolic issues. Your insulin levels are too ****ing high, and with high insulin you CAN NOT burn fat. You need to do things which allow your body to drop insulin and unlock your ability to use fat as energy.

What you are doing now isn't working very well and the problem is, the longer someone like you goes CICO, the more difficult it's going to be. Whatever minor progress you made last month? Expect a lot less of it this month. That 39" waist is likely to stay pretty close to that this month, if you're lucky you'll get it down to 38". For abs, you will need it at 31-1/2" is my guess.

You're not even close, my man. Not trying to be a dick but you got to address weight loss realistically.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

I appreciate the advice, but that chit is too drastic and too close to disordered eating for me to do, man. You keep saying I failed in October but I lost 8.5lbs. Most people would be clicking their fat heels if they did that. I can easily make that 10lbs for November and again for December without even eating less. Even though I was a 100x more active than the average person last month, I still had many many hours of fukkaround time that I could spend in motion instead. It will easily make up the difference.

The comments you guys have been making have been making me think that I've become zinc deficient even though I eat red meat every day. Would make sense because of the skin issues I've been having. If more zinc works for my skin and I can decrease fat intake, this will go a lot faster. Additionally, zinc sufficiency will probably enable me to cut carbs without feeling so hypoglycemic. When I was eating pounds of lamb while eating "paleo" some years back I ate hardly any carbs and had no low blood sugar. Dropped fukktons of weight without trying too.

You're doing fine Ratfish. Let progress be your guide. Set incremental goals and forget about this arbitrary timeline.

PSMF is dumb unless you're extremely obese or you're way off track in show prep

I could write paragraphs why but meh. Just don't do it.

Do the fuking PSMF protocol.

just lol at losing $600 and taking a year ban for not hitting a fat loss goal when PSMF exists.

Also regarding measurements, measure 3 places: at your bellybutton, ~2 inches below and 2" above. gives you a better picture of progress, sometimes one won't move and another will drop half an inch in a week, etc.

PSMF really isn't that bad if you do it right.
