Does anyone have the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card? I'm thinking of applying.

I do. It was one of the first cards I ever got. If you use amazon prime its totally worth it just for the 5% back on all amazon purchases. It also gives 5% on whole foods purchases, 2% on restaurants, gas stations and drug stores and 1% on everything else. Once Covid hit they sent a special offer to up all non amazon purchases to 4%. Not the best rewards card out there but pretty good

Anyone else find that creditwise reports are always wayyy higher than your actual credit score when you get it pulled to take out a loan?

Was feeling good having a 759 on creditwise. Then got it pulled forreal to buy a car and he said I had a 700.

But for real though my actual score was higher than the credit karma report the last time I checked and 700 is a good score. I've never used creditwise. If you've had a lot of hard hits on credit lately that could drop the score or if your wife has been delinquent on some payments for items in both of your names without telling you...

Are you trying to finance through the dealership? Unless it's a new car with 0% check around with the local credit unions to see what kind of rate they can give. The one I got from a local union blew the dealerships offer out of the water

Yep, only got it since I use Amazon for work supplies more often now. Company lets me use personal card instead of company card and reimburses related costs (Prime Membership), so no brainer for me.

Only chitty thing is SUB is garbage. I believe Chase is also strict on 5/24 so if you've been churning, something else to look out for.

Rookie mistake. All of these "free" credit report included with Chase, AmEx, and CapitalOne cards are some bullchit "Vantage 8.0" score that doesn't take into account late payments or collections as strongly as FICO does. As long as you have low credit card utilization that algorithm easily grants a 740+ score.

Bumping this thread because AmEx has cut this feature and others. About to dump the card. AmEX used to offer a free FICO score pull (not the bull**** vantage8 score). They then swapped out the FICO score for the vantage 8 score (useless).

Another feature was a $120 year "dining credit" that took $10 a month off your bill at cheese cake factory, ruth chris and some other bullchit places i don't use. The saving grace was that it was applicable to GrubHub. Super easy to use right? Yeah, well now they wordsmithed the offer to say "Earnup to$120 a year in dining credits". Now they're only giving you $10 for those bullchit restaurants i mentioned before, and now only offering an absolute pleb $5/month on grubhub orders. Barely covers delivery fee lmao.

At this point, it's probably best to pull out of all Chase Sapphire cards and all AmEx Gold/Platinum cards. Their hayday was prerona, now all of these companies are getting crushed and they're not even worth having anymore. Best to just switch to the best cashback card you can find.

You make a good point. The Chase Sapphire Preferred & Reserve was a bet for JP Morgan Chase to acquire new credit card customers and to get them into their ecosystem of products. It was a bet that was a few million dollars and now COVID-19 is here people aren't spending like they usually are so they're getting fuarked.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I still have my Chase Sapphire Preferred. It's the most balanced travel card I have (outside of my AMEX Platinum but I'm on my sister's account and there's no annual fee - she's military). Given the bonuses being cut on the CSR I've decided to go with more cash back cards like the Freedom Flex myself.

I just got approved for Chase Saphire Preferred.

How long do I have to wait to drop or get another card without hurting my credit score?

Also, which cash back card should I get?

Chase Freedom Unlimited or Citi Double Cash?
When Trump faces a reality she can't stand, she becomes highly emotional and illogical. Every crisis is met by histrionics, tantrums and an inability to deal with facts. "Its a HOAX! Its a FRAUD!"

The emotion then becomes the reality. Those of us with girlfriends are familiar with this phenomena. Donald Trump menstruating 24/7: "Blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his WHEREVER."

Hmmm, that looks like an interesting deal actually. Just use it as my grocery card and I could get $200 in free money and 5% on the majority of my groceries.

It's a no brainer for me with no annual fee and I can easily reach $750 in under a month honestly.

The Citi Premier looks like an underrated card with a great intro bonus.

If you have the Citi Premier and Citi Double Cash you’d pay a single $95 annual fee, and you’d earn:

3x points on airfare
3x points on dining
3x points on gas
3x points on groceries
3x points on hotels
2x points on all other purchases

I don't have the Citi Double Cash but I just got the Citi Custom Card. Still I like Chase's ecosystem of cards more to be honest, though this is tempting.

-https://onemileatatime.com/citi-premier/

I also looked at the Capital One Venture in the future due to its intro bonus and perks. Only a $95 annual fee.

Even though I could probably work it out to come out ahead, I don't like cards with annual fees. It takes so much to offset the fee anyway that in the end it seems hardly worth it. I did go ahead and jump on that custom cash card though.

Curious question for everyone - what do you do with your rewards points? Do you use them as received to lower your bill? Or do you let them accumulate to use later towards a larger purchase? Maybe deposit that amount into an investment account?

It's always smarter to take the cash somehow or use it to directly lower your bill

Can be tempting to just use it for a purchase but you'll be eating into the cost which affects how much you earn back which could go back to directly lower your bill

I made about 5 digits in rewards a few years ago. I'd go into Casinos, play with credit cards, rake the reward, take the money and profits back into the bank to load it back into the card

Good times. Its illegal for US casinos to fund gamblers with credit, but if u can do it in other markets, its a nice way to make tons of money

Oh for sure. What I meant was if you have say $500 in points, buy something for $500 charging the card like regular and use the points to credit the bill.

That's what I basically did last year, using the points to offset Christmas purchases. But of course time value of money. I'm just losing value to inflation, so I started thinking I need to be using them as incurred. Whether it's simply to reduce my balance, or as bonus little mini deposits into an investment account to keep that growing. Savings accounts are essentially pointless anymore.

Questions to ask when choosing a credit card.
- What is your goal of choosing a credit card? To increase your credit score, building credit, rewards, emergencies? I have one card for car expenses that offers me 0% interest if I pay off the card within 6 months. That is my car emergency card.
- If you want a credit card for rewards, what are your credit card reward goals? Travel points, cash back?

You are able to get a FREE credit report once a year from all US creditors (Equifax, Experian, Transunion) and dispute your credit just. The above are generally free as well.

Simple ways on increasing your credit score.

- PAY YOUR BILLS ON TIME
- Keep your credit utilization ratio low.
- Avoid applying for too many new credit cards within a short period of time.
- Avoid closing credit card accounts, unless you’re not using them and they charge an annual fee.
- Check each of your credit reports regularly for inaccurate information. If you find an inaccuracy, dispute it as soon as you can.

The most common credit cards you will hear on the MISC people have are generally the following:

- Chase Freedom (including Unlimited)
- Chase Sapphire (preferred and Reserve)
- American Express Platinum

I've seen some others mention Discover IT and Citibank stuff but I believe most people on here are financially well off and are interest in churning more. Feel free to share referrals as well.

I have a Chase Freedom but I think the referral is only for their Unlimited now. Please provide some suggestions.

I used to be into credit cards and churning. Now that I'm older I'm not into it at all anymore. I closed off 4 credit cards already this year and probably will close off two more and just have 2. It's not because I listen to Dave Ramsey, I just got tired of having all these cards and through different banks. At my peak, I had 10 credit cards.
