Anyways, back to the point. You used a blanket statement that was false and is irresponsible to use in the real world. You're obviously a casual shooter and that's fine, but no one type of gun is better than another "period" as you said. I gave examples of populations where a 9mm may not be the better choice over a revolver, refuting your blanket statement. If you want to do mental gymnastics to move the goalposts to apply your statement only to this forum, go ahead. A semi auto is probably best for the police, you're right. Not sure where that entered the conversation though. And fyi, even most police wouldn't choose a 9mm if it weren't for female officers needing a smaller group frame. It's a compromise.

Saying this type of gun is better "period" is just like telling someone that they should be driving one type of vehicle "period", without taking their actual needs into consideration. It's a false statement and irresponsible to say.
"Just get her a revolver." OK boomer.

This is sad. I've seen some sorry attempts to defend the revolver but this is getting ridiculous.

Yes, if your fingers are so arthritic that you can't work a slide but yet you still have the manual dexterity to pull a trigger, a revolver, while a worse gun for self-defense, is a better gun for you, a member of this extreme minority.

The comments you made about penetration and maintenance are simply wrong.

Again, the semiauto 9mm is a better gun, period.

If you can get this page to load, it says it's available:https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperst....cfm/ID/245441

Alternatively, this configuration is an 18" barrel with a good trigger/grip and rifle gas (soft shooting):https://www.smga.com/ruger/ar556-mpr...-bbl-black-159

It's going to be more difficult to maneuver inside of a building due to the extra 2" on the barrel.

Honestly, wish I would have went with the 18 and then got an 11.5.

Don't see myself ever getting in any intermediate firefights. LOL

That's kind of a bummer. I can't imagine a range day that's less than 100 rds on a semi-auto intermediate rifle...

Gen 2 are also fine and usually cheaper, but if you leave them loaded it will bow outwards in time.

The 40 rd mags are reliable, but long (making it difficult to shoot positionally) and heavy.

Other options will be much heavier (D60) and/or lose reliability and be longer. 30 round mags work, and you have plenty in the rifle.

There's a host of reasons the 30 rd mag is the standard.

My only experience with a 40 round magazine was to return it after 2 failures to feed.

Might have just been a bad mag, but my 30 rounders have had zero problems.
