Didn’t read a single word of that reddit fabrication

i dont agree at all with kicking your kids out at 18.thats never been a thing throughout history.
working and contributing? sure. teach them the ropes of adulthood while in your house rather than learning from retards on the street

Absolutely useless one sided story. There are so many other factor in play there that it is completely worthless to consider it at all.
Do the (step?) son and father get along?
Does the son cause problems?
Is the guy just looking for a way out without having to pay child support?
Does the story contain fabrications?
Too many variables and possibilities. Thinking who is right or wrong with near zero details is a waste of time.

Wish I stayed with my parents until 25 and just like saved up. Bouncing around places with rent and all of that, from college to roommates was such a waste of money considering my university was pretty close to my home town.

As someone with an 18 year old college freshman I'm allowing him to stay so long as he meets conditions.
Job
Military Reserves or ROTC
Minimum A/B average
Has brand new car I gave him for graduation but Carries the note.
Has to save minimum 20k a year for his home when graduated.
And no ****, if he fails to meet ANY of these conditions hes out without hesitation. I'm not having a grown ass man lounging around my pool doing jack **** while I work two jobs.
I was poor growing up with no parental guidance/support dropped out of school at 16 and worked. I was in the military the day I turned 18.
Us five brothers. 1 dead. 2 junkies. 1 struggling but finished college. I was very lucky from just a few decisions made early.
I know the struggle and removed him from it for him to have the best possibility.

Came in expecting that vid of the streamer kid fighting his dad.
Pretty dumb to lose your family over something fairly trivial...seems like there might be underlying issues or not everything is being said.
Unless the kid was an absolute rotter, why would you kick him out. Most 18yr olds dont know chit about the real world and jobs. Use it as an opportunity to teach him and give him an idea of what skills/education he will need to make it.

My dad died in 1979, and my Mother had 4 children to raise and send to college. She always let us stay in her house, that my fathers life insurance had paid for, while we went to a state community college the first two years.
I also had no clue what to study, and was thinking of taking the first year off to work full time, but she convinced me that you go ahead and take all the basic English and Math at first to get them out of the way. You don't have to declare a major until your Junior year.

Min wage is $14 an hour I think now. No tax under first bracket, CPP and EI that’s it. 14*16 = $224*4=$1000, shave a tiny bit off. working twice a week on weekends. Oh and summers. Can work 40 a week during summer maybe even 60 if you reallly want money; get a 2nd job. That’s 4 freaking months. Plus student loans. You don’t even need a job during school to live alone as a student. If you can’t find a summer job move back in with parents for 4 months. That’s respectable. Student loans are enough. BuT I dOnT wAnT tO bE iN dEbT mOmMy HeLp mE!
I didn’t work during university and lived away from home aside from some summers. People who don’t live away from home for university in Canada are honestly pussies who cannot fathom having to make their own food or not having their mommy. And the student loan argument cracks me up. Kids spending $20 on a Starbucks coffee all of a sudden are worried about their future. Yea okay pal. And it’s not like most of these kids aren’t taking student loans living at home. They are to pay their tuition. Sad excuses. Also the non tuition part of student loans is now a grant I’m pretty sure. So they just blow all the money on food and other dumb shyt instead of on rent and blowing the remainder on food and other dumb shyt.

My dad let me stay at home while I went through university, I figure I saved about $20k not spending money on dorms or rent, and graduated debt free without a student loan. Eventually started making 100k/year and since I wasn't paying student loans I saved up 40k for a down payment. Lost my job this year from covid and he let me move in. Very thankful I only pay a few hundred in rent instead of 1k, it has stopped me from spending about 9k of my down payment fund in rent. Thanks old man for sharing your love and compassion, it has given me a head start over all the other people in my age group who's parents tried to "teach them how to be a man", etc.
I will forever be grateful, and I love that we got to spend more time together where I could learn life lessons from you, and depend on you for advice and help when I needed it. I will try to do the same if one day I am blessed with kids.

My guess is the kids disrespectful towards his father/has poor relationship with him and the father is tired of his schit. The wife is posting on reddit so that's already a pretty big indicator what kind of person she is.
Most likely father imagined his life one way then fast forward 20 years later and he realized his hopes and dreams never came to be and he's stuck with a ****ty wife and an ungrateful kid. I don't know of any case where a kid has a good relationship with their parent and their parent kicked them out immediately at 18.

It's no surprise why some many families put their parents into nursing homes, instead of letting them live with them when they get old. Society is out of whack than what it was 50+ years ago. People can't wait to isolate

Its already been said in this thread, but this is why Indians and Asians own entire neighborhoods and business districts in large cities. They let their kids stay at home as long as they need to so they can go to college, and graduate with a STEM degree debt free.
The parents support their kids into adulthood to build up the family wealth. Cutting off assets and wealth by forcing the child out of the house to start from scratch is counterproductive for the betterment of the family. By being nurturing to their child into adulthood, it increases the chances of the child being successful as well as the future grand children being successful and so on and so forth....It also increases the chances of the kids being there for the parents when they reach their elderly years instead of throwing them into a rest home like most white people in America do.....who ironically kick their kids out at 18 more often than other races.
The thing is, Its one thing to kick a kid out if they're just lounging about getting fat and playing video games all day, but the kid in the OP is active in sports (so he's not fat) is in school and has prospects of getting a job and going to college. As a parent, why would you not want to support that?
I just realized the "dad" is 39 that means he had his son when he was 22. Thats pretty damn young to have a kid in this day and age. He probably feels like he ruined his life taking care of a kid when all of his peers were out having fun and now he wants to experience that so he's rushing the kid out of the house so he can be independent again.

I think the dad is being weird in this one.
The kid is working + paying rent at the time?
Goes so irate and crazy he causes a divorce?
It isn't like the kid is going to be there forever.
Why not offer to assist him to get an apartment or something or try to work out an arrangement to get him and his buddies to live together away from home. Way better options to manipulate the situation than to do what he did.
Maybe that is what the dad wanted - to be divorced.

I know this is the misc where anything less than 6 figures straight out of high school is considered lolworthy, but I honestly don't see what's wrong with working Mcdonalds as one of their first jobs at age 18 either as long as it's not a long term thing.

My father stayed at his parent's place until late 20s, and he's not a loser by any means.
Started his own business and making over $200,000+ profit a MONTH.
Lol at White people thinking they need to kick their kids out for them to grow up.

Personally I think the dude is in the wrong. You don't kick someone out at 18 to spread muh wings. That's a good way to ensure he's working some minimum wage job for the rest of his life.
