A lot of it is sensationalist journalism though. They said a packet of butter is £7 in some supermarkets (and it might be) but in other supermarkets it's the same price it's always been, like £2.

I am really worried about what is going on currently in USA. The gas prices go up the truck drivers have to charge more to delive the food to stores so the stores have to raise prices. The people working in stores need to be able to afford this more expensive food so the stores have to pay the employees more money and once again the stores have to raise the price of food even more. Now the truck drivers have to be able to afford food so they need to get paid more and then the trucking companies have to charge even more to deliver the food... you see how this can just snowball out of control.
This could get really ugly even for the CEO miscers. What happens when regular people cant afford to feed their kids they will go to stores and take that **** and walk out ... who is gonna stop them. People were looting malls and **** in 2021 and police was having a hard time stopping them you think the police will be able to stop someone because someone is taking milk and bread for their kids?
When that happens the stores will be looted and even the people with money will not be able to go buy food because the stores will be empty or it will be to dangerous to do so.

I used to wonder why my grandparents, or anyone who lived through the depression, seemed to stock food in almost a hoarding way. Well now I know. Once you’ve lived through something like that you learn to save for the unknown.
Who knows how things will be in the upcoming year. It’s better to be a year early, than a day late. Hope everyone starts getting a little extra here n there and build up at the very least a three month cushion of supplies, if not more. People don’t need to go doomsday prepper, but being prepared is very important these days.

Thats what our grand parents did back in the depression and stuff. they just figured a workaround they could afford.
You learn to cook, get new meal ideas and beat the man at his own game.
Learning to cook of course here is the key. All of my meals are less than $2 total. I dont eat ramen or pre packaged crap either. Good example is last night I have a big serving of fried veggies. Squash, carrots, broccolli, onions.
With that I made fried chicken breast cutlets. One breast pounded out flat makes about 5 palm sized cutlets. Thats 2-3 meals.
The breast was from one of those big walmart packs that are about $12 for 6. Took me maybe 20 minutes tops and I will have it again for diner tonight.
Just be smart about it.

80/20 frozen burgers (8) is $10
3 lbs of frozen chicken thighs is $10

They have coupons all the time too through the app so overall not dirt cheap, but could be a lot worse

Along with higher prices and shrinking sizes….
I’m also getting expired food!
Placed an order for a few boxes of gluten free Mac n cheese in June. They expired the month before in April. Just got another order “the replacements” and they expire in less than two weeks.
Keep an eye on the expiration dates. All that crap that was stuck out at sea is probably making its way to the shelves now.

Everyone was complaining but it wasn’t that bad until last week. It’s actually insane now. I just buy what’s on sale now. Fresh chicken which is usually 7 dollars is now 15. Hamburger meat is like 8 a lb. Like wtf! Cheese is insane.

I might switch to Walmart app cause it’s so packed there these days but on the app you order your food, pull into a numbered lot then they load your bags up into your beat up used pick up truck.
