It's because studios way way inflate budgets and have additional revenue streams we're not aware of.

I agreed with you that Disney had a terrible 2023. And I agree that breaking even or making a couple of tens of million on a $300M investment isn't a success. But it's not a flop as Dave the Tard keeps arguing. If it was, why wouldn't Disney just cancel Snow White given how "much money the recent movies have lost" and with all the conservative outrage already over it? It's because of just what I said, these studios make way more money on these movies than we're told.

Why would another Mission Impossible be made when the last one lost hundreds of millions according to your math?

Hope? Businessmen don't invest money on hope and keep their money very long.
Okay, Little Mermaid once again cost 290 million dollars with 140 million in marketing. That's a total of 430 million dollars. It made 569.6 million USD.

Enlighten us how that isn't a flop.

As for the next Mission Impossible movie, Paramount Pictures has announced that it’s removed "Mission: Impossible 8" from the June 28, 2024 slot and moved it to May 23, 2025.

Also, Snow White was originally meant to debut on March 22nd, 2024, it's been pushed back to March 21st, 2025. You think that's a good sign?

I just told you, streaming rights, toy and marketing tie-ins, product placement, on-demand video all add to the revenue that we don't see. Why wouldn't they cancel the next MI knowing the last one lost $250M+ according to your math? And why wouldn't Disney cancel Snow White if they lose sooo much money on these?

Think logically and not emotionally for a change. What percentage of big blockbusters do you think earn 2.5x their budget friend?

Tons of big blockbusters make money, tons of them flop as well.

It's almost like the mainstream media needs to tell you whether or not a movie flopped, because you clearly have zero critical thinking skills.

With Snow White the movie is pretty much done, they keep having to do damage control, because the main actress won't shut the **** up, and everyone is laughing at the pictures of the dwarfs.

Let me guess, when that movie comes out in 2025, and does maybe 500 million, you'll call it a success......

Tons more blockbusters "flop" vs make money. Just look at the movies released this year. Wouldn't a smart businessperson be super careful with making these movies with giant budgets if most lose money? Use your head instead of your feelz for a change friend. There's a reason these massive budget movies keep getting pumped out.

I ask again, why would Disney even release Snow White if they lose so much money unless the movie makes $700+M?

Use your logic friend.

I was gonna say, nobody was buying these new Star Wars toys. And if a movie flops, why would the toys be selling off the shelves?

SNOW WHITE: Disney Rumored To Be Fearing "Financial Disaster" After Budget Ballooned To Over $300 Million.

And that's not including marketing, or possible reboots.

But hey, if it makes 500 million, we'll hear from you that it isn't a flop....

They haven't come close to shooting it yet. Why don't they cancel it Dave? They're willing to lose hundreds of millions to "save face"?

Okay, not a flop, however, it's nowhere near the margins they used to make. They are in decline. Competition is staring to become more significant. They don't have the dominance over the market they used to have. Eventually people will get tired of being disappointed in the movies not measuring up and loyalty will diminish. Then the tallent and investors wil not see them as the best choice no question and it just snowballs down the spiral.

The idea "well we are still making money even if we aren't making what we used to make" is what the execs of Sears, Toysrus, Circuit City. These companies used ot dominate and corner the market. By the time they started breaking even and losing money, it was too late.

I don't know Sillie, tell us what you think a profit is? It's already at 300 million, and will probably continue to rise in cost, it will be "Buriful" when it crashes and burns.

I'm sure the Hercules remake will be a hit, with Michael B Jordan playing the Half "Greek" God......

On MI:

- A franchise with a history of success
- Tom Cruise
- Part II was already planned and I think a lot filmed, they were committed to it

I would say otherwise, they would have probably put a pause on things to rethink/rebuild. This time, they've got Tom Cruise aging out, already planned/filmed a lot of part II and it ended on a cliffhanger, so they'll make the sequel/finale.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Unfortunately this will all fall on deaf ears.

Aqauman 2 is already headed for a big flop, but by his logic, he's probably wondering why they don't scarp the movie, probably because the movie was already finished, and what else can they do?

Interesting how he's been silent on the Marvels since he shilled so hard for Captain Marvel.

Can he enlighten us all why it flopped so hard?

Are you asking why they don't scrap a movie that has been filmed, promoted, and opens soon vs a movie that hasn't been shot at all yet? Dumb dumb they could scrap Snow White and minimize the financial damage. But they won't, why is that?

They weren't close to be finished filming the last film before the results of the first. It would have been way more cost effective to stop production on the 2nd rather than lose the $250M+ you folks believe they lost on the first one.

I wonder why they'd go ahead and finish it? It's likely to do far worse than the one this summer yet they'll release the "bomb" anyway. Curious that is...

And no one has answered why just a small fraction of these movies make 2.5x their budgets yet they release them year after year after year.

Curious that is. I guess the studios like losing money?

Okay, we'll see how it does when it finally comes out in 2025. Of course when it flops, you'll deny that it's a flop, unless the mainstream media tells you it's a flop.

In your ****ed up head, what do you consider a success?

And once again, what happened to "The Marvels?"

Lets hear your excuse why it flopped, and don't worry, the media said it was a flop, so you don't have to pull numerous excuses, trying to say otherwise.

I can tell you from my experience doing analytics for unnamed companies in Burbank, CA, animated feature films are absolutely expected to gross more than 2.5x budget. A major Disney franchise like Little Mermaid would be expected to do well beyond that. That movie was a major financial failure as has every Disney animated theatrical release since COVID.

Before COVID these animated features were cash cows for the studios, particularly Disney, just printing money pumping these things out one after another because little kids can't just go alone so they drew in families to the theaters (mom, dad, and the 2.5 kids). Go look at the budget vs BO numbers for every Disney animated feature before COVID and after COVID you will clearly see what I am talking about there is no way to spin it otherwise.

In his eyes, Justice League wasn't a failure, nor the Rise of Skywalker. Despite the fact they have made a movie since Rise of Skywalker.

And Justice League was such a disappointment, that it pretty much killed the DCEU.

Who is arguing that 2023 was a bad year for disney? I'm saying the budgets are inflated and they don't need to make anywhere close to 2.5x budget to break even. Not a large percentage of blockbuster movies make 2.5x their budget.

Why did Morbious flop? Bad movies flop all the time, what's your point tardo?

LOL at watching the ****bag Sillie alt trying to do everything he can to convince himself that Disney losing hundreds of millions is somehow going to be offset by all these other revenue streams (when it's already been pointed out that all those other revenue steams are losing money too). You got to really wonder why such a p3do supporter like ****bag Sillie is going so hard to defend a company he has no affiliation with. Probably something to do with Disney moving away from family entertainment to more liberal tranny acceptance messaging.

Note, actually - yes, sometimes they do scrap movies already made. When they do this, it's a 100% tax write off.

They almost did this with some John Cena Looney Toones movie recently and did with a completely finished "Batgirl" movie. The John Cena one, apparently it test screened very well and there was some kind of reaction against them shelving it, which made Warner rethink it. Batgirl was put in a vault and locked away, word is: very woke, screened poorly.

On Batgirl, the bean counters looked at the cost to market the movie and distribute it, weighed it against what the projected box office return would be and then decided it was worth more to write it off.

Scubastevo :-What percentage of women have STDs? (serious) If I just wanted to go bareback with any girl that I could get with, what are my chances of ending up bed ridden with STDs?

I wonder why they'd go ahead and finish it? It's likely to do far worse than the one this summer yet they'll release the "bomb" anyway. Curious that is...

And no one has answered why just a small fraction of these movies make 2.5x their budgets yet they release them year after year after year.

Curious that is. I guess the studios like losing money?
40% of MI8 was already shot. It ended on a cliffhanger. It is part of a massive franchise. It stars Tom Cruise and everyone involved in the movie from the writers to the directors are all successful people with solid track records behind them.

Let's pick a year for Marvel and look at x2.5. I'm picking 2017, which is when they were doing well - but also not their peak.

GotG2. 200m budget. 770mwwbo. 220 over x2.5 *(edit: whoops, 270 over)
Spiderman Homecoming. 175m budget. 880mwwbo. 443 over 2.5
Thor: Ragnarok. 180m budget. 850mwwbo. 400 over 2.5

... so, What are you talking about? This obviously shows how and why these movies are so bloated and why they (until now at least) kept getting made -- they were printing money, easily blowing past x2.5 the budget and putting out massive movies -- this was hardly their best year, that would be 2018-2019 w/ the Avengers/Thanos conclusion. Want to go over those years, too?

Marvel kept doing this - because they thought they could. They assumed Marvel stans would keep coming out, they figured they could get away with inserting more and more 'wokeness' into it (and not that Black Panther was woke, but it got a lot of good press for having a black cast and it's positive depiction of Wakanda), both getting money at the BO and scoring DEI points w/ Vanguard and Blackrock at the same time.

Unfortunately, for Disney stock holders, they got greedy. They went too far and put out too much product, stopped tight quality control, went too woke and let budgets bloat out of control, thinking even previously unproven characters like the GotG or Antman would rack in 700M+.

So, a lot of things biting them in the ass, all of their own making, but these chickens have come home to roost.

Btw, how many Marvel movies are slated for 2024, Sillie? (A: one - all the others got pushed back as they panic, because this year has been miserable and a complete failure)

I watched a Xmas movie today with the fam, the naughty nine of some ish

The gay character to kid was way sexualized calling grown adults hotties and kids cute was just to awkward. They also made it a point to show a girl who's parent were two dads. Just weird imo don't ask to tell
