Are you really going to say with a straight face that Disney is doing just fine at the moment?

How many people did they lay off this year again? How many hundreds of millions od dollars did their movies lose again?

Disney pulling its advertising with X may have just been the final nail in the coffin.

Backstory; MediaMatters, a social justice account on X, had manipulated the algorithm on X to make it appear that it was favoring racist speech and using anti competitive businesses tactics. Disney pulled its advertising just as Elon had pulled the data, proving Media Matters forced the algorithm in to unlikely patterns. Elon filed a lawsuit against Media Matters, but Bob had already made his decisions and even made statements based on the lie that Elon was allowing racist propaganda on X.

Now, people are canceling Disney accounts en masse, for an another wave of cancelations with the company over these events.

Igor is a real POS. I wasn’t sure if Disney was going to survive initially, but now I see Disney having to downsize greatly, maybe even becoming a Zombie company.

It’s difficult to say just yet.

Here are my takes;

Many people were already dissatisfied with Disney, and this incident was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It likely could be in the millions, but maybe more so over time. There are streaming services popping up as the market is becoming more competitive again. This is good, especially for conservative streaming services, like the DW, who now offers children’s shows too. Once people realize there are other streaming services offering a good product, the cancellations will trend slowly over time after this initial hit. These cancellations will also signal to the market that there is a large demand for traditional and conservative services and products in response to the communist run companies.

I think what saved Disney from the first hit was that they had gotten 7 million subs early this year and the stocks jumped as a result. With the pending lawsuit against Disney, if Disney loses, it could tank the stock even more

Who is left subscribing to Disney+? They were basically giving it away earlier this year, something like $2.99 a month for a year or something. How many people are even there anymore that could leave?

I will say, 1) It's hard to imagine they fall off and become a zombie company as you predicted. Really, only half the country is potentially even invested against them, look at Kingfab's reaction -- he doesn't care and he hates the right enough he'll hold his nose and support Disney at the end of the day. While pissing off a large base of potential customers is unwise, the question is how quickly they can pivot out of it and dig out of the hole they're in. 2) We've been watching their stock, it'supright now from when I was making anti-Woke threads about the Little Mermaid, it was around 80 then. It's 90-95 now. Certainly a far cry from their inflated high of 200 or whatever it was, but that was their peak and they might have already hit their valley.

Somehow all these humiliating bombs at the box office and Disney+, yet the stock crept upwards.

I might even invest in them at this point and kick myself for not doing so at 80. If that one Nelson Peltz guy manages a hostile takeover, they'd surely clean house and might be on track to be normal again.

They are totally getting shutdown Dave. There is literally only 87 subscribers left! All their theme parks are a complete ghost town over here in FL Dave. All these tourist are here just too shop in our malls. They are 100% completely ignoring all things Disney. Most of there theme resorts Hotels are closed and being demolished as we speak Dave. By the end of the year they will have too cancel Disney + all together. Just 4 more weeks. Trust the science!

Some of these points were already addressed in the thread. For instance, they can’t pivot away from this easily. It will take years and an entirely new staff to pull it off. The current staff doesn’t have the competence to turn it around, and it will take years before they have a major movie release even if they do get an entirely new staff.

I did forget to mention that Disney does have some diversification. They own Fox, CBS, Hulu, A&E, History, ESPN… if we really wanted to separate ourselves from these commies, we would need to leave all of them. I’ve also cancelled my Hulu sub, and I haven’t watched Fox since Tucker left. Tucker was really the only show I watched anyway.

lol, meanwhile all they have to do is fire up another season of The Mandalorian and have all the sci fi geeks glued to their sets. Years for them to make a movie? In 2024 you think its going to take them 5 years or more to make a movie? Wow. Yes everyome cancel ALL your tv programs that may even advertise a Disney Cruise line for good measure. You can only watch the programs Kraken has deemed acceptable and live in a fukcing hole in the ground in order for us to win this culture war dammit!!!

Mandalorian Season 3 had a large viewer drop (after the main character was more or less replaced - with a female). You've admitted you don't watch or agree with this stuff, so there you go.

Meanwhile, there is usually a 3 year turn around on movies.

IMO, take the hit. Start over with new people. Go back to formula. If you can, rush out a project or two that sends out a clear message things are different. Pick a masculine Marvel character, make them the star, give them a hot chick love interest, have them kick ass and make the movie equivalent of a rare steak.

Blade would be my pick.

Meanwhile, 2024, they only have Deadpool 3 coming out. Word is Ryan Reynolds butted heads the whole time with Disney, but whatever it is, put it out and plan for 2025.

Some of us understand better than others why standing up against communism and socialism is more virtuous than taking the standpoint of the "indifferent spectator". There are even entire books written on that very subject, as well as vast other sources of literature on the subject.

You can continue to troll, be abrasive towards those who stand up for their principles, but we know Standing up for what's right and good will always be faced with adversity from insufferable people like you. In fact, these books also describe individuals like you, and teach to have strength against the evil you advocate

Disney was a safe place for families trying to shield their children from just the kind of degeneracy it is now promoting. The problem is these are the conservative people with incomes to spend on family vacations, while the wokesters spend their welfare and minimum wage retail checks feeding their abominations.

You DO know that the thrid season of the Mandalorian had extremely low ratings? Nobody liked it, or watched it. The plan for Blade, was he was going to be a thrid rate character and his daughter would have been the main character.

Ashoka's viewership numbers weren't all that great either. Apparently people weren't all that interested in more bitchy female leads. But just ignore it and consume the **** slop like a good NPC.

Iger is a gigantic POS. He "left" disney when he saw covid coming and installed Bob Chapek as his replacement. He kept his ceo office and stayed on as an advisor and tried to use Chapek as a puppet. Chapek is an anti hollywood numbers guy and wanted to make disney less political and more profitable. The whole time Iger is behind the scenes trying to sabotage him. Iger takes his job back and is hailed as the savior when he is the one who destroyed disney. Every bomb that is happening for Disney has all been movies that Iger green lit years ago. The first movie we will see that Chapek himself green lit is DeadPool 3... like the one movie people actually want to see

They lost 500 million at the box office...... In November
They lost billions at the box office this year. The Marvels and Indiana Jones are the biggest busts in cinematic history
Marvel is dying
Star Wars is dead
They have laid off thousands of employees
The only thing they have on D+ that gets any viewers at all is Bluey.... an Australian kids show that disney doesnt make or own. Disney pays another company to have this on their platform
Disney + still is not profitable. They lose hundreds of millions of dollars every quarter on this
They have lost hundreds of millions of dollars by keeping their stuff on a failing streaming platform instead of licensing them out to others
They were forced to shut down the star wars hotel they spent billions on due to lack of interest
Attendance at the parks are down
Stock has been cut in half
Merchandise sales are at an all time low.
They lost their special privileges' in Florida
Customer trust is at an all time low

They are ****ed and they cant fix it. They arent going to go bankrupt or anything. but they are done. If they decided to stop being idiots right this very second it would still take a decade to right the ship. You are making yourself look like an ass by posting stuff you know nothing about

All businesses have ebbs and flows. They have some issues, but of course they are fine. Their assets are worth a fortune, they are financially profitable... there should be no reason for them to panic. Their recent earnings actually beat Wall Street's expectations.

They laid people off and will continue to use cost cutting measures to add more billions to their bottom line. Some would call that smart business. They have had some flops on their movies, my assumption is that it's likely because they are just desperate to make content for their streaming services. Killers of the Flower Moon would be a flop, except it was Apple's production, and they place far more value on streaming subscribers than movie-goers. So if a traditional studio would have done Killers of the Flower Moon, it would be a flop, but because Apple did it, it is not. This race will probably heat up between Apple, Netflix, Disney, and Amazon, with each of them taking some big losses on films and TV shows trying to outdo each other for content.

In related news, I wonder how the newest scuffle, this time with Elon Musk, will turn out. Not saying, "oMG THEY're Dead! DEAD!" but Elon pushed back on them and in some (admitted more right-leaning) corners, I'm hearing some people are dumping Disney+ in protest and in support of Elon.

No idea how great or small this is, but seems like right now this is the last thing they need. Just from a PR stance, even if it's not even a big deal losing a few Disney+ subs, they're coming off bad hit after bad hit and now this. Hopefully for them it blows over quick and people just forget all about it.

Cliffs: They pulled advertising from Twitter/X in protest to something Elon said, I believe it was a tweet that was snarkily critical of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians (a position popular with youth and many on the left, also worldwide outside the US). Elon in public quite literally told them to go **** themselves and called them out on it.

They arent fine. Thats just thinking that its Disney. They are too big to fail. Honestly Disney probably thought the same thing. Healthy companies dont fire their CEO's on a Sunday night in a sketchy way. Healthy companies dont have massive massive layoffs. Healthy companies dont have to shut down hotels and pull down streaming content for tax write offs.

They also are legally required to come up with billions of dollars to purchase Hulu next year. Thats going to be a struggle

Some flops??? Marvel phase 4 was a failure, phase 5 is a failure. I'd say every movie they put out this year has been a flop, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 either broke even, or made a small profit, and that's their only hit so far.

And maybe you should read Dyel1991's post.

Did they have anything to do with Spiderverse? I don't think they did, Sony has Spiderman and they only share w/ the MCU stuff. What year was the Avatar sequel? That's one I also think they shared somehow or something -- but it made so much money it was a massive success for everyone involved. (I checked, it was 2022)

With Spiderman, Sony gets 75% of the profits.

You still have people insisting that Little Mermaid wasn't a flop, despite the updated cost being 293 million to make, 140 million in marketing and only making 593 million worldwide.
