He's doing more with his life at age 17, then the 30 year old living at home. His parents are beyond proud, while the parents of the 30 year old are disgusted by what they brought into the world.

Except 30 is about that time you really get on your feet


Graduate at 23. At graduation you have student loan debt, credit card debt, and possibly a car loan. Your starting salary is $60k

Paying off a $30k student loan, about $10k on credit card debt, and a $15k car loan easily takes 5 years. But wait, you want to buy a house and want an emergency? That's another $40k cash minimum e.a 3 years of saving.

Had you been renting the above would easily take 15 years

I think there’s a balance here. Some wealthy people make sure not to give their kids with too much, because it’s detrimental to their growth. Many also invest into making sure their children will not struggle with predatory/crippling debt, and give them a head start.

That's an exception to the rule. Just like not all rich parents pay their kid's way.

Most get take the reigns from their MOGGER parents and continue the legacy. Their kids too will have an easy life.

I was one of those kids that “saved up” by living with my parents but I missed out on life trying to build wealth.

You are only young once, assuming you find your passion money will come.

The best thing to do is move out during college at 18 and then live on your own after.

You will learn about life, responsibilities and maturity and actually live.

Well I said move out for college. Im assuming you'll have college loans and working part time + some parental help? Millions of kids are doing it just fine.

After college get a job and get a roommate? $500-800 for a room or a studio for a bit more.

Assuming you make smart financial decisions you should have enough saved up in 5-10 years for a down payment for your own place.
