Its only a year, tbh you will probably learn alot about many things and form relationships and connections with people all over man. Plus you will get to travel and get paid for it

That was my initial reaction as on face value you would be foolish to value a year of your life (during your youth) at a thousand dollars, and that's probably true in 95/100 situations. but op p much already stated that he has a degree, and has been working odd jobs on and off, in this case he would be paying to continue "floating", brb going to work for a German catering company. Some people are just suited for the military. Brb lost, brb no direction for career, brb don't mind being told what to do, brb don't mind just waking up and having to relocate cause your boss says so. Tbh guy sounds like he's cut out for the military, plus hell prob serve as an officer cause he's already educated. He's 25 now and without a dramatic change in lifestyle hell probably continue to feel how he does now.

+1 for the year of service.

It's only wasted if you didnt develop any of your skills.

I have interest in sea, watersports and boats and if I can get into navy I can get a commercial boat driving license for free. And if I cant get into navy then I will probably get into mountain commando (dont exactly know if such a thing exists in American military, this unit is something above infantry and below special forces); they have intense excercises, survivalism training which would benefit I think everyone.

I plan to make some Euros in this German catering company for like 6 months, leave most of it in German banks, go back to Turkey and serve and once service is done, might use the money I left in Germany and what I made in military to get some masters degree in tourism in a German university maybe.
