Mornin'….

I hear you….I don't like a beat up looking guitar either nor do I care for the intentional reliced trend.

But, in this case, I wouldn't concern myself with it.
1) You don't have to worry about giving it the first ding.
2) Scars, dings are just maps of experiences of where we've/it's been.

That's my take….carry on.

sup brahs

i have a kemper toaster (unpowered) that is great for recording/playing with headphones. but I want a solution to play out loud/have the feel of an amp.

should i get a FRFR cab for the kemper or buy an amp?

if so, can you recommend a dope amp for under £1000

Anybody know where to find good jam tracks, there's a few good ones on youtube but generally much to many 12 bar blues and ethereal ballad style tracks for my taste.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Howdy Pop….

I'd offer this site as a starting point: https://www.youtube.com/c/DixMusicStudio

Some feedback from those that did check out the site:

Hope that helps….carry on.

Sold my JMP Superlead clone and picked up a Friedman Runt 50 to perhaps replace my Silver Jubilee.

I've played 2 shows so far and it's been EXCELLENT.

I'm running it into a captor X with one output going to a QSC K12 behind me for stage sound and another output going to the PA.

A nice FRFR will work great and you won't be locked into kemper's hardware if you want to try something else.

I owned a kemper since early 2012 and sold last year after getting an axefx III (which is also now sold LOL) and I always used a QSC K12 which sounds incredible with both units and the Helix LT I used to have.

We also have a QSC K10 that I've used and it also sounds great but lacks a bit of the low end thump the K12 has but both are incredibly loud and clear. If you're playing live, the K10 is more than adequate for stage sound assuming you have decent mains/subs.

Brahs I found my really old epiphone les paul (bought it used more than 12 years ago so might be way older than that) in my parent's basement.. I needed a guitar setup on my main guitar so I took them both to my luthier and he's saying they don't make them like this one anymore, that it's probably better than most modern gibson les pauls and getting it back in shape is worth it…
I'm thinking of changing the pickups but I don't know chit about that..After a quick look it seems that fishman are pretty popular and cheaper than p90s or dimarzios and they have pretty good ratings..
What you guys think?

Holy shvt….I just saw that too.
Here I sit, still above the dirt at 75….feeling pretty lucky ATM.

According to Rick Beato his style was very unique and could not be copied (for lack of a better word) easily.
I never saw him use a pick which may validate what Rick said about him.

There are some guitarists who developed a style and sound all of their own and he was one of them. Will never be another like him. You can look up any big name right now and they'll be talking about him. The news hit me really hard.

Some guitarists never evolve beyond their most successful years whereas he did.

Has anyone dabbled in both bass and "regular" guitar and have advice on whether or not it's worth it for me to switch? I've been playing electric for over a year and enjoy it. Only thing is I've found that:

1. I'm better at picking individual notes vs playing chords, which I've heard translates better to bass

2. Similar to point 1, I'm good at fingerstyle, but picking is harder for me, even if it's just strumming chords. Somehow my brain thinks better in terms of individual notes than groups of notes

3. I want to join a band as a vocalist and guitarist and I've heard it's better to be a bassist since guitar players are a dime a dozen, which makes it super competitive

4. I grew up listening to hip-hop/R&B/funk and like the sound of the bass. A good bassline was the first thing I noticed in non-rock/metal music.

5. I played drums when I was younger and have really good rhythm - again a point for being a good bass player

Only thing I'm worried about is that bass parts in a lot of songs seem a lot more boring and it's harder to sing and play bass as a solo performer vs being an acoustic guitarist. Any advice?

Do both

But when you are not got at a playing chords. That should be exactly what you practice.

I usually just watch a few Danny Gatton, Scotty Anderson or Brent Mason videos and put my guitar away in frustration

My only tip is to start slow, probably slower than you even think you should, and work up speed. If you can't play it slow, you can't play it fast

It’s funny but I kinda view hybrid picking as cheating.
Whenever I hybrid pick it’s generally because it’s a really easy way to play certain lines that would be more difficult using alternate picking.

by that logic alternate picking is cheating instead of playing all downstrokes

what about sweep picking, is that cheating too?

I tend to get bored of my guitars and give them away to new players after a few years. Been playing since 1989, must have given away a dozen. I wouldn't invest in a guitar that's been stored in a basement.

I learned on a 70's Fender Del Mar, never owned a Fender, don't care for Fenders but if if I were ever to find a Del Mar I would likely pay anything for it and keep it for life.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
