Solvent, whatever usually hoppes. For oil, Mobil synthetic oil. Same stuff I keep around for my truck. Works well.

The copper stuff is anti seize, it's fine to shoot it with that stuff on there.

Ya I won’t be removing the copper grease they put on when building. Just wiping it down with cleaner then rubbing a thin layer of gun oil/lube and a drop at the heavy wear spots
Not sure if srs about Mobil syn

People use engine oil. What I've read says it's not the best, complex chemical engineering terms inserted here, but, it works. Most of the time firearms fail due to something with lubrication it's simply not using enough, or putting it where it doesn't belong (like a striker channel). Use something that is a lubricant, that won't gum up, where it's supposed to be…it'll be fine. And motor oil is cheap

Speaking of smelling awesome…I keep a bottle of Hoppe’s No. 9 on my nightstand and dab a drop or two behind my ears when I want that sexy time. The smell is like crotch lubricant for women.

Trust me on this bro.

I asked one of the guys at the range when I was buying stuff if I could use lubes and solvents for automotive stuff on my guns, and he said to not do it. He tried selling me all this fancy expensive chit to clean and lube guns. I never understood why you can't use brake clean on internal metal parts, then follow up with gear oil or maybe even engine oil depending on the lubricity.

I use slip 2000 brand oil and I also have a tub of their grease. I don't go through much; I think the stuff I have has been on my shelf for 10+ years. The grease in particular is going to be a lifetime supply for me. In talking with other shooters, I think using automotive stuff (brake cleaner, engine oil, etc.) is really common. I just haven't switched, because the stuff I have hasn't run out.

From my experience, brake cleaner is just ok. It's decent for douching a barrel before brushing and swabbing. For cleaning receivers it's hardly worth the trouble, since it often turns powder residue into a white residue which is harder to remove, especially .22 LR powder residue. For receivers and components I prefer to wipe with a microfiber rag instead.

^^ to touch on above.

Thoughts on if I should pull the trigger on an AR pistol I have been wanting…with all the BS that may or may not be passed?

Finally found a place that has 1 in stock of the brand of AR pistol I want (manufacturer has halted production of them so it’s a needle in a haystack trying to find one).

Do it? Don’t do it? I feel like if I don’t then I won’t be able to. If I do it could come with the headache of registering (stamp) it anyway.

I've been going with the minimal cleaning approach lately. Long guns get the bore cleaned when accuracy degrades. I try to keep everything out of triggers, if I do put anything on them, I wipe them off as completely as I can. I do wipe everything down after use. Rimfire chambers get brushed every few range trips and I lube the moving parts on all actions. Bolt guns sparingly, semi-autos liberally.

I'll be the first to say I'm not expert, but it has been working for me.

Depends.

Do you want to either register it with the ATF, destroy it, or be a felon later this month? If one of those three appeals to you, get a braced pistol.

If not, don't get one and just get rifles, traditional pistol, and/or an SBR with stamp

Imo short 5.56 guns suck to shoot without a can. I have a 10.3" AR and I will probably never shoot it unsuppressed again. Maybe one of those blast cans would help idk.
The difference in concussion from 10.3" to 16" is huge. The 16" is much more pleasant imo.

Just throwing it out there.

On spread. Yea mine would be suppressed most of its life anyway (another reason I want shorter barrel bc of added can length).

Just picked up a box of 100 9mm for 36$ at academy plus 5.56 20 rounds for 12$

Academy has a deal where if you get one of their credit cards it knocks 15% off ammo when purchasing

I did the math and its basically close to ordering cheap new brass on the internet with shipping included.

In that case yeah once you want a short suppressed AR it's hard not to do. If you want my advice, I would wait and see how this pistol brace rule crap plays out first before getting an AR pistol.

Working on the over gassed mk18 soon. Very over gassed with a can.

Well I guess 3-5 "weeks" means days lol. It looks phenomenal up close, very nice work from these guys. I guess I'm going to work on ordering the rest of my stuff this weekend.

So I pulled out my Magpul setup AR, and wanted to see if I want to get the same stock and pistol grip setup. I was told by a similar framed coworker that when you hold the grip in your hand, the butt should be against the 90° bend of your arm (holding the rifle cocked to the side, and your arm should look like you're halfway up as if you were doing a dumbbell curl, if that makes sense). Should I get a longer stock setup to match my arm span? When I shoulder my rifle, it almost feels…….small to me. Am I on to something, or am I just imagining things? The grip is fine to me (standard Magpul pistol grip), but I'm wondering if getting their backstrap adjustable grip would be better.

Just delivered. First impression very nice. Solid. Tight. Will tell you just how thick solid and tight later tonight. Buttons have a nice tactile click. Compact. Laser adds maybe 1/8 of an inch to the height so might as well get it. Comes with 2 sets of switches for a high and low grip. Will likely leave the high switches. Torch is very bright 500l. The laser is ridiculous (get the green). It’s not even dusk yet and I can hit the house garage across the street like it’s nothing. (I haven’t ranged it…range finder down stairs) but it I’d say 70ish yards…maybe more. The strobe and laser combo is absolute badass. Not only disorient the target but since it’s flashing it makes the laser stand out to your eye like a beacon. If you’re on the fence I’d get it. Will be mounting it to the g19 g5 tonight after the gym.

Nice man, I was looking at that or a TLR-2. Aesthetically speaking I think the 2 would look better on my FNX, but that video you shared of Taran using it was fantastic propaganda lol. I wonder if my FNX barrel will block out some of the light or not. I know it'll fit on my Springfield 1911 since the rail is a little smaller. I'll probably get the 8 anyway since I can larp with the light on either.

I'll probably get the 8 anyway since I can larp with the light on either.
The tlr-2 is a big boy isn’t it? Longer and 1000l?

The 8ag is flush with the end of the g19. That’s that I wanted for carry/concealment. 500 should be more than enough for handgun. For AR or AR pistol I’d go bigger 1000L

Driving. Cliffs? Something about bump stocks?

Doesn’t effect the pistol braces?
