McVay just seems way too young to me. He may be super smart but when a large part of the roster is older than you it's tough to keep them in line imo.
Plus I feel like younger players could try and take advantage of him thinking he's one of their bros.
I know there have been young HC in the NFL before but damn…30? I'm 5 years older than this dude. Can't imagine running a franchise now let alone when I was 30.

Well i think that's the case for any franchise though. You have a clear cut favorite and then you interview everyone to see if someone sways you otherwise.
Now the issue will be if their "favorite" is a disaster and someone totally not qualified…like Tomsula.
I'm down for chitting all over Jed and Paraag but it would be pretty stupid of them to just interview the one guy they wanted and suddenly be left holding their dicks when that person goes somewhere else or says no thanks.

Top choices for me are Mcdaniels, or Mcvay, or Shanahan, I'd be willing to bet we won't get any of them. Maybe McDaniels if we go with Riddick.
I saw someone saying that Gamble is Jed's top choice which is why I made that post earlier. I would love it if the decision made is a solid one, I just doubt that happens knowing these two idiots are the ones running things.

McDaniels just didn't realize how important the human part of HC was and just having guys prepared wasn't enough.

We should take a look at the Colts WR coach as a HC candidate

Lol, what have you read about Shanahan that makes you think that?
Some gems
As a former member of the organization put it: “Kyle bitches about everything, and then his father has to fix it. He bitches about the food in the cafeteria, he bitches about the field, he bitches about the equipment. He complains and then Mike takes care of it. Kyle is a big problem there. He is not well liked.”
Several members of the organization said Kyle Shanahan was a cause of internal strife, surrounding himself with young coaches with inferior experience, and allowing for no checks and balances of outside voices in the offensive coaching rooms.
“Kyle knows ball, but he is just so petty and he picks fights and holds grudges over small stuff,” the source said. “He’s a mountain out of a molehill guy, and he’s got entitlement syndrome. That’s why we ended up hiring all of his close friends and buddies, so no one can challenge him. But it makes you worse in the long run, because there is no accountability. Ultimately, it’s his father’s fault for pacifying his son.”
It's possible he's grown since then as this was from the Redskins stint with his pops as HC but I don't want to find out.
McDaniels was that guy in Denver and learned the hard way it doesn't work. Don't know if Shanahan has had a reason to change yet and I don't think it's worth the risk just for the Shanahan name.

San Diego last I heard wanted Patricia or Toub.
And it seems SF wants/would be a good fit for McDaniels.

I'm hoping we go with McDaniels. New GM and a lot of cap room. I don't see why not, especially if SD lands Patricia. I know SF/SC sounds like the worst situation but it probably seems that way because we're bias Niner fans.
Trust me, the Chargers sound just as dysfunctional right now. Their fans are just as mad with the owner right now, they're not even sure where they'll be playing next year, LA doesn't want them there isn't a big enough fan base here for them.

It comes down to what he'd rather have.
49ers pros:
$40 more in cap room
Higher draft pick and more of them
A GM he can chose himself or add input on who should be a good fit to work with him
No bad contracts
No set QB he has to work with
New stadium
Decent OL to build on
49ers cons
No QB
Lack of talent
Lack of player leadership
Jed
Paraag
Jed
Rams pros:
Some good talent on defense
Jared Goff - if he likes him
Todd Gurley
Rams ownership gave Jeff Fisher all those years
Rams cons:
$40 less cap space
No first round draft pick
Jared Goff - if he's not a fan
Weak OL
GM already in place he may not gel with
No stadium
If I'm a HC candidate I know where I'm going. I think the biggest thing is how he feels about Goff. If he thinks he can turn Goff into a stud then not having those picks and salary cap isn't a big deal because QB is so big to a teams success. At the same time I'm sure he'd be trying to trade for Jimmy and the draft picks the 49ers have and the salary cap space and no QB in place seems like a perfect spot.
Honestly at this point I think it's either McDaniels becomes our next HC or he goes back to the Pats. I'm obviously hoping he wants the job.

There are no pro's to the 49ers HC job lol
There are some pro's as the GM with the cap space and 2nd pick.
And there's no guarantee McDaniels even becomes a HC this offseason. He could've had a job the last two seasons.
And I definitely don't want my HC picking my GM. Lol what kind of backwards sh*t is that.

Most teams looking for a HC are usually not appealing. And no I don't like the idea of looking for a HC and a GM at the same time because you want the GM to be able to pick what man he wants for the job. At the same time you don't want the right HC to slip out of your hands because there are other teams who are also looking for a HC. Big mistake by Jed to wait so long to fire Baalke but it is what it is.
My best case scenario is we trade for Jimmy G and also get McDaniels along with a GM he'll get along with. Obviously things don't always work out that way so all I can hope is for is we get lucky with both GM/HC.

Hell even Mike Nolan did ok picking Scott McCloughlin. Those two made some big picks/free agent signings despite the results on the field being ****ty.

At this point it better be McDaniels.
A lot of people want Kyle Shanahan but I'd be very nervous with that hire from everything I read about the dude.
McDaniels makes too much sense to me…but yeah very possible he decides it's not worth getting involved with the Yorks having experienced working for a great owner like Bob Kraft.

I feel that way too… Sadly I am not sure if that logical of thinking will play out well with this team. Who knows we might be surprised.

Still can't believe we're even interviewing Cable. What a joke. Especially after the whole "winning with class" comment a few years ago.
This better be McDaniels at the end even if it means waiting til after the SB to hire him.
Kyle Shanahan is a great offensive mind but I'm more nervous about him now than before with reports coming out how he came off as "arrogant" in his interviews. That goes exactly with those concerns reported from his stint with Washington.
Lots of people are hard because of how well he's done with Atlanta this year but that team is fuking stacked.
Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Sanu, Gabriel, Hardy, Freeman, Coleman and a pretty damn good OL. Their biggest addition this offseason was Alex Mack. He totally took their OL to another level.
Those guys will not be coming with him to SF if he's hired.
I don't want to see him use us as his learning experience for another HC gig a few years from now.
McDaniels is perfect for everything Jed SAID he wants. Which probably means he won't be the hire and I'm going to be fuking fuming.

McDaniels is too smart and not desperate enough to come here.
If Jed hires a HC before hiring a GM it tells me that Jed realizes how badly he fukked up getting rid of Harbaugh.

Not sure how much I believe any reports but I was reading the McDaniels does have concerns and is still considering staying were he is at. One of the concerns is packing up his family and moving her, to only possibly be fired in a year….

Sounds like we're moving on with Kyle Shanahan.
inb4 he says no thanks jeff.
If Shanahan is the hire I pray I'm wrong about him and he's going to do a great job but I don't see it working out well.

Not even surprised at all that this HC search is falling apart before our eyes, IMO Shanahan is still far from a lock for our HC and wouldn't be surprised when Cable is announced as our new HC.

We got fukking lucky last year getting Chip. When Jed ditched him after a year with a joke of a roster it let everyone in the league know this isn't a place to come.
Jed is still being a complete jackass. Go hire a fukking GM you stupid kunt. You don't know a fukking 1/100th of as much football as you think you do. Let the GM hire a HC.
We were an elite team 4 seasons ago and now we're a joke of the league so much so that Al Michaels is making fun of us. This is all thanks to this stupid fukking weasel that is trying to pick a HC when he should just be signing checks.

I am going to make a serious effort to move on…if we hire cable it will be very easy. I live out of market so it's much easier to say nah on an effort to watch this scrub team and organization.
Plus, maybe it's my age but my interest in the NFL has seriously decreased. Kaep's actions only expedited it…can't wait to see what team takes him on.
Team doesn't deserve any support. Wish Bow could get out and be on a contender when he heals up.
Edit: To add, if I didn't get so involved with Fantasy Football I'd have no issue treating the NFL like the NBA and viewing only solid playoff matchups.

If we hire Cable i'm seriously out.
My wife has been buggin me for years to just become a Pats fan and make things easier.
No extra game to watch.
No need to pay for Sunday Ticket
etc…
So fuking frustrating following this team and hearing all my friends and family laugh at all the BS. I love this team but the fact that our owner is the biggest issue drives me crazy. I can deal with trash seasons but when you can't attract any decent coaches or give them a shot to help the team then the chance of us turning into a good consistent team long term is tiny.

I'll never ditch the team completely but if we hire Cable i'll stop watching for a while much like I did the last few games of this season. I wont order Sunday ticket and unless the games come on local TV, im out of market, then I won't be watching.
I pray Kyle Shanahan takes the job. That will at least keep me somewhat interested. I wanted McDaniels the most but Kyle was my #2 choice. Both have question marks and are unproven. Kyle with his immaturity and Josh being an a$$. Lets not forget Josh is the guy who drafted Tebow in the first round.

NFL is dead… I wanted to be an NFL coach. I went through the hassle of reaching out to NFL coaches about a decade ago. I grew up on NFL Films as a 7 year old and have been to countless training camps.
I've watched less than a dozen games this year. They politicized the sport with Roger Goodell's arbitrary decisions, watering down of the game, rule changes and Kaepernick's bullchit behavior.
If they lost me… I can only imagine how many lukewarm fans they've lost. Alienate football purists and guess what happens… you stop having quality talent playing at the youth level and high school. Good luck keeping your sport growing.
