Very true. Never imagined I'd lose so much interest…the entire league is boring as fuk. Even the playoff games have been terrible. Tried the Dallas/GB game but it was so boring in the beginning, went to the grocery.

Team doesn't deserve any support. Wish Bow could get out and be on a contender when he heals up.

Edit: To add, if I didn't get so involved with Fantasy Football I'd have no issue treating the NFL like the NBA and viewing only solid playoff matchups.

No extra game to watch.
No need to pay for Sunday Ticket

So fuking frustrating following this team and hearing all my friends and family laugh at all the BS. I love this team but the fact that our owner is the biggest issue drives me crazy. I can deal with trash seasons but when you can't attract any decent coaches or give them a shot to help the team then the chance of us turning into a good consistent team long term is tiny.

It's hard for me to say but this might be the last straw for me too, might stop following altogether. I don't think i'll follow a new team, might just concentrate on FF. It's hard i've been a die hard fan all my life, I don't follow baseball, I barely keep up with the Lakers. Niners were the only team I really enjoyed watching.

Packers/Cowboys drew the highest TV rating for a divisional round game in 20 years…but ok

The conference games should be really exciting. Honestly I have no idea who to pick in the GB/Atlanta game and I think the Steelers can definitely go into Gillette and win there with that offense and a defense playing some really sound football. The Pats offense isn't the same without Gronk and their receivers are all overachievers with Brady. Plus I think the Pats defense while sound is vastly overrated and have not really been tested much this year. Bell and Brown are straight up studs. One thing Belichick has done very well is take out the other teams best player. Who do you take out here?

I'm guessing they try to stop Bell and hope Ben isn't on his best game and Brown can somehow be contained one on one(doubtful)

Anyways…NFL definitely isn't dead but I do know a lot of people are being turned off from all the extra BS and all the changes by Goodell.

I'll never be fully able to walk away from the game and likely never stop being a niners fan but if they go with Tom Cable as HC I will have to distance myself until that disaster is over. What's super frustrating about this whole situation is that now whomever we hire has to be retained for 3-4 years or you can say goodbye to any decent HC candidate coming here after York promised everyone who would listen that this was a rebuild that would take time and he'd give the HC/GM that time.

Agreed. No matter who it is, York has to give him at least 3-4 years.

The job is Shanahan's if he wants it. I would think that Cable would have been hired by now if he was the first choice. So unless Shanny says no, he should be our coach.

At first I though he should have let the new GM fire Chip but seeing how long it's taken, they wouldn't have able to interview anyone for HC. Surprised he took this long to fire Baalke.

The team has way too many holes for Rivers to make much of a difference. If the Chargers were smart they'd draft a QB high and let him seat behind Rivers for a while. They're not that bad a team and they had a ton of injuries last year.

The #49ers are expected to get top GM candidates with Kyle Shanahan next week – when they are allowed – to see who meshes well.

Would be hilarious if we were trying deal for a QB (while we have a top draft pick), without the upper management roles filled.

No man I was too young. When the team was moved I was 6 years old, didn't know much about football or sports back then. Started watching and keeping up with football when the Texans came to town

imho management shouldn't have the last word regarding a QB, prime example of that is Huston… Let the Hc decides if he wants to bring somebody in or if he wants to draft a young QB.

K. Shanahan and Kirk… that doesn't sound THAT bad at all

I've shared my concerns about Shanahan and I'm still really bummed we're not getting McDaniels but I'm at least glad Josh was the top choice and it was our instability which scared him away.

Shanahan was a distant second for me but he was the second. Which makes him the first when McDaniels dropped out.

My only hope now is that all the stuff I read about the guy is in his past and he doesn't alienate the players and other coaches with his ego. No question the guy knows offense but I really don't want us to be the Broncos during the McDaniels era.

I think my biggest issue now is the QB question. We could still trade for Garoppolo but with McDaniels it would've been a seamless transition. With Shanahan there's a much bigger risk because he doesn't know Jimmy the way McDaniels knew him and JG would have to learn a new offense just like everyone else.

I just want the hire to be official so we can move on. I'll hope for the best like I did with Chip Kelly(wasn't a huge fan of the hire) but I'll give Kyle a chance to prove me wrong. I didn't like the Justin Smith signing at the time either…was very happy to be wrong about that one. Would love to be wrong here as well.

I just hope that the ownership does not get in the way this time and give these new hires a chance. They need their time to build and develop their team to fit their needs.

Still this is not set in stone… But now that we can assume we have a coach lets talk about poosible GM, and other coaching staff. Honestly I have no clue on who Kyle would bring in. It is safe to assume he has ties to a lot of people and could friends all over because of his dad.

The one good thing I'll say about Shanahan is that he seems to be linked to better GM candidates(or at least who most people consider better ones)

It seemed like McDaniels meant Louis Riddick would be the GM and honestly I just wanted McDaniels so Riddick would've been fine to get him but if we were straight up picking GMs he'd be at the bottom of my list.

I'm still hoping we get one of the Packers guys. I'd prefer Wolf just because he'd have his pops to check in with but Gutekunst(what a name) is highly regarded as well. Not sure how I feel about McDonough just because I don't have a high opinion on that family living in Boston(I see them similar to the Cohns for some background) but the fact that Mike Nolan mentioned him as his choice for GM actually does say something considering one thing Nolan got right is his GM hire in Scotty M.

I read that the Falcon's DB coach could be Kyle's pick for DC.

Falcon's website:

Marquand Manuel is entering his second season as the Falcons secondary coach/senior defensive assistant. Manuels squad only allowed 19 passing touchdowns, which was tied for the third lowest total in the League. His secondary also forced 15 interceptions last season, which ranked within the top 10 in the League and gave the defense a 1.27 touchdown to interception ratio, which was the seventh-best TD/Int ratio in the NFL.

Manuel joined the Falcons after spending three seasons as a member of the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff. He served as a defensive assistant for the last two years under Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn while Quinn was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks, after spending the 2012 season as a special teams assistant. Manuel also worked with Quinn at the University of Florida, serving as a coaching intern in 2011 while Quinn was the Gators defensive coordinator.

Manuel began his coaching career after spending eight years in the NFL as a defensive back. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth-round (181st overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Florida and played in 116 games with 58 starts during his career. Manuel totaled 332 tackles (259 solo), one sack, two interceptions, one touchdown, 16 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 36 special teams tackles in his career while playing for the Bengals, Seahawks, Packers, Panthers, Broncos, and Lions.

If he's the pick I wonder if he'd have us switch to a 4-3…would make Jonathan Allen in play for #2

If we're getting Shanahan AND he's picking the GM, we're using that #2 pick for a QB. Whether he wants to trade it for Jimmy G or take a rookie, he's using that for a QB.

We have close to 80 million right now. That doesn't include any cuts we could make including Kap. You have to admit as a coach that is pretty nice, plus the 2nd pick in the draft.

I'd say it's too early to say that. Some offensive guys think they can coach up weaker players. I think that's why McDaniels drafted Tebow. Figured he'd take the intangibles and coach him up.

I'm still hoping we get Myles Garrett at #2 and then see if Watson can be had in the 2nd round.

I'd rather switch to a 4-3 honestly.

Base:
DE: Buckner, Armstead, and Lynch
DT: Dial, Williams, and Dorsey

OLB: Armstrong, Harold
ILB: Bowman

Nickel:
Buckner or Armstead kicks inside while Lych plays DE

We'd still be lacking a pure pass rusher but I feel the pool of players available able to play a 4-3 DE is much larger then a 3-4 OLB. I love the 3-4 defense but hot damn it was a mess last year and its not only coaching but personnel too.
