First of all, all Form 1 silencers are not "solvent traps." Solvent traps are dumb, attempt to skirt the law and are now all ATF honey traps for uneducated people.

Now if you want to actually design and build a F1 silencer, my suggestion would be to immediately apply for a F1 stamp with the verbiage above. Some even include generic pictures of bar stock and a lathe. Some also apply for 22 caliber and 10" long. If you did this, you would have the freedom to make it any size you want under 10" and drill it to any caliber as long as a 22 can fit through it. Stamps don't expire so the best day to apply was yesterday if you think you might want to build one.

The hardest part these days are the cones. The other parts are easy to… manufacture.

form1.org is a good place to start learning.

Cheers mate. Repped. I will be adding a can in due time but will ultimately just buy bc I don’t think I’d be comfortable “manufacturing” something that a bullet need to safely travel though and risk the repercussions of faulty design. All the recent talk about it had me wondering what the fuss was about

So g19 is pretty much sorted with the mods I’ll be running on it. Now I have to switch gears totally to AR mods

Best optic to run on a AR pistol? I hear a lot about EOtech? Model? Other brands? Have been thinking running a dot at 45* and then a longer range scope up top (but still hoping to keep weight down As much as I can).

Think I’ll go with a 1000l torch on this one

What else? Lasers? Press pads? Etc?

swapping out the handguard on my anderson am-15

with this

I'm hoping it fits and I don't have to change any internal stuff. The reviews and specs show it to be exact and smooth change out.

Nice. Always a good day when you can is ready to pick up.

Based on your approval date, my math tells me my should be approved in May at the earliest. Probably more like June or July.

If you can buy in bulk, I've been seeing deals for 9mm 1,000 for ~$250. I got 800 rounds of winchester 556 at year end for 35 cpr. Keep an eye out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/InStockAmmo/

If you can't buy in bulk, maybe see if a buddy will go in with you. Or re-sell some of the ammo locally. Might even make a few bucks that way.

Palmetto State Armory seems to have good prices on 5.56, as low as 45 cents a round for pmc I think. I've seen 9mm ammo as low as 25-30 cents a round too. What I like about them is that they don't nickel and dime you for shipping as much when you buy multiple boxes, as opposed to some places where shipping changes for every 20 or 50 count box.

Looks like it's tax free if you decide to register. Even if you buy a stock you'll basicaly break even vs. if you'd bought an actual SBR.

What if you forget about this or that and move to a new address with that brace, let your spouse use it, loan it to a friend, or dare to cross a state line with it though?

You cut that short. Here is the full sentence from what was released

"This rule does not affect “stabilizing braces” that are objectively designed and intended as a “stabilizing brace” for use by individuals with disabilities, and not for shouldering the weapon as a rifle.

10 years in prison and loss of guns rights for life.
What's the move for current brace owners? Destroy brace and keep gun as a pistol? If you form 1 SBR and this gets overturned, you can't convert back to a unregisterd pistol and enjoy the benefits over an SBR. I'm thinking wait a couple months and see where it's going.
