I'm about 20 miles northeast of Columbus (still in the county).
This house is about 8 miles further northeast. I could hunt off that back porch (it's in a rural county)

So, a couple of things, it sits off a main road and you have to really be looking for the entrance because it's just a gravel road, up a fairly good incline until you reach the driveway, and that winds around to the house.
It has a fairly large Baptist Church right after the entry that sits on the adjacent property. You can't see it at all from the house or any of the property I walked through. Directly behind the property canopy, there is a 100+ acres of farmland. The owner usually reaches some sort of agreement with the owner of this property to not build or develop around it.
The house itself is a bit older than I expected–built in 88. But everything was completely remodeled about 6 years ago and looks really modern. A lot of space, basement is completely finished and it has a really nice unattached, climatized garage, complete with a bay (it also has an attached two car garage, and a covered area to park an additional vehicle).
I felt a little overwhelmed, mainly because it's a lot of property and had the feel of a vacation spot in the Smokey Mountains or something.
I think that I liked the idea of coming home to something like that every night, but I'm not sure if I'm 100% ready for jumping into something quite that expensive and responsibility-laden just yet.
Don't know OG's

Yeah that's a tough one. I could afford a lot more house but I just don't think I want the mortgage payment.

I feel like I'd be jumping several rungs at once, making for a farther fall if I fail (I'm not inclined to, but I have to keep this in the back of my mind when making life-changing decisions). I have found that I failed most often in the past when I hastily made decisions in an attempt to "get my life back."
So, I'm "pumping the brakes" a little bit, and going to prepare more

You guys are too funny (but would obviously be welcome anytime)
An update – I reached out to another realtor (local to the area) about the property because some records had caught my eye on how many times it had been for sale in the past few years. The auditor website showed the same owner, but sale history shown it had been on the market off and on.
Apparently the owner puts it on the market a lot–and he doesn't budge on the price, even though he's asking too much based on the market of the area. Either he doesn't really want to sell, or he is just really trying to get his asking price and figures if he puts it on the market enough, he'll finally get it.
Feel like I should offer him bout tree fiddy (srs)
