I dunno man. Coinbase recently filed for an IPO. In the long run legitimacy is probably more important to them than 10%ish of their current trading volume but who can really say for sure.

Not selling after news. Why do you believe the current situation isnโ€™t priced in? Itโ€™s already dipped 20% relative to BTC.

News events are super fun to trade, the volatility spike is awesome.

Fun is mostly done with ripple for now unless it makes a new low. Rotating back into btc

Things in crypto aren't properly priced in. Some people are also betting it won't be delisted.

If Coinbase delists, Binance (US), Kraken, Bitfinex are likely to follow. The on-going dumping from Mcaleb + the ripple foundation will continue with no new buyers from the most significant payment rails. That to me is the infinite downside that isn't worth risking.

This guy sums it up well:.

My gut feel is that there is a 25% chance it is delisted from major US exchanges, that is far too big of a risk for me to have any position in. Your money though, do as you wish (no backsies if it moons irrationally).

What do you mean by "properly" priced in? Efficient market theory, or something else?

Things aren't properly priced in because of the immaturity and the small size of the market as well as the difficulties (regulatory and technogical) in accessing the market.

There have been numerous announcements across countless projects where the initial price spike (or lack there of) only reflected part of the move with the stabalising price following a significant period after.

According to Jules tier 1 exchanges are in the works and suppose to be listed by Q1 2021. Been out since 2017 and has consistently made good progress, so as far as crypto projects go I've got my bag secured. Seems like everytime I find a good project it gets cucked the hardest tho. I prob wouldn't buy until I capitulate so it goes 100x.

I suspect you're incorrect because if that were true, then there would be a massive edge on shorts / put options.

Kraken, Bittrex and Bitstamp come to mind. All have heavy customer base in the USA.

While not major exchanges, they are heavy spot\fiat onramp\offramp markets. I can see a future where basically all USD markets have huge regulatory risk\uncertainty and will de-list it.

25% chance it's de-listed
50% chance it's heavily scaled back, implement additional KYC checks and implement accredited investor limits (exchange needs a broker dealer license which could limit to just coinbase).
25% chance nothing happens

XRP may be entirely limited to Tether pairs going forward.

XRP still has a heavy footing in Japanese markets like bitflyer and coincheck. They are the only reason NEM is even still around.

Whether an edge existed can only be proven in hindsight. If the price continues to tank, looking back 3-6 months from now, then of course there would have been a 'massive' edge on shorts and puts. Massive edges exist in this market for products with futures. I'll give you an example:

Major updates for Sushiswap including BentoBox (Lending - i.e. similar to Aave), Miso (token launchpad with sushi liquidity mining rewards), Gusoku (options based IL protection) was known publically early November. It took two weeks for this information to be fully reflected in the price. These are all huge updates.

On 1st December, Andre Cronje (builder of YFI) announced Deriswap (options) would be built into Sushiswap. It took two full days for the price to be fully reflected in a stabalised price.

This is a token that has as a $25m - $50m futures market on FTX (one of the largest). At any of those points if you had 'longed' on the released news, you would have had a 'massive' futures edge.

There is so much information asymmetry. Front running Dex's, VC's listing their tokens on exchanges weeks before vesting periods etc etc. Most of retail is getting absolutely dumped on.

Brave had to get rid of brave rewards on IOS due to app store guidelines and I don't think any crypto outlet has even covered it and its been like two weeks. Efficient market hypothesis does not apply to crypto.

Yep, I may accept an argument for BTC and even ETH.

Efficient market hypothesis doesn't really matter, it's just one explanation attempt of the scientifically proven fact (for stocks) of the unidentifiability of outperformers. I'm not aware of such a study for the crypto market yet, but my guess is that it would come to similar results.

Exactly. The only bad part is the amount of noise to signal. Once you find a signal and go heavy on it, its all worth it though.

Jumped off of the XRP ship today (leaving a small quantity of XRP behind) taking about 2k profit since 2018 when I could have taken 26k profit about a week or so back.

Feelsbadman.

Certainly frustrating that the SEC whose job it is to protect investors, has done exactly the opposite for 8 years and now suddenly decides to drop a huge lawsuit.

Can't say I never saw it coming though. There's a reason BTC has always been my favourite. Just frustrating I spent most of my BTC on setting up a company when it wasn't worth much.

Moral of the story is that if you dare to dream big you will be squashed 99% of the time. Pick yourself back up and go again.

XRP snitching?

They are going to say that BTC and ETH are the same as XRP.

(Video contains snippet from Cardano creator.)

Phuck XRP for trying that bullchit.

"Ripple Claims Bitcoin Is 'Chinese-Controlled' While Announcing New Lawsuit From SEC"

"โ€œXRP consistently ranks among the top three virtual currencies by market capitalizationโ€”alongside bitcoin and ether, the two Chinese-controlled virtual currencies that the SEC has stated are not securities,โ€ Ripple said in a six-page defense posted online."

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/mark...ec/ar-BB1c8Aep

Edit: I skimmed read the 6 page paper written by Ripple, and read the relevant part. Yep... Ripple are being crabs a in bucket.
