yeah a brace isnt complying because it's a pistol not an sbr, and you dont have same freedom of use/carry with sbr. It's closer to a loophole than compliance.
And it's not a free tax stamp for me, because I dont want nor have use for an sbr (as long as there's different rules for it).

also was just contacted by atf agent and made deal to give up all you guys's IPs in case the rule stands and I get caught slipping with my 15.9 incher with bare yet shoulderable receiver extension on day 121. He's thinkin I can get off with a small fine and community service for my cooperation. sorry not sorry

More…or less?

This would apply to your more common calibers ie 9mm, 556, 300blk etc. the more exotics wouldn’t really apply
I would like to have enough on hand to be able to go a couple years at least without needing to buy. Four years is better - a full presidential term. So if varies depending on how much you shoot. I was looking over my stuff earlier. I shoot 22 lr the most, followed by 223. I have around 11k 22 lr. That's probably 4 years plus or minus. I reload centerfire, and have 500 223 assembled, with components to put together 2k more. Primers are my weak link there. I have around 3k bullets and enough powder for 4-5k. Primers have been tough the last couple years. Still probably a couple years of ammo for me. I get to the range a couple times most months, say, 20 per year and shoot mostly steel at 200-600 and paper from field positions. Maybe 50 rounds per trip.

I have components for at least 500+ of the other cartridges I shoot, but that is several years worth of shooting in most cases. I just don't go through them nearly as fast.

It's hard to say because most practice rifle ammo is actually pretty good as defensive ammo, whereas there's a huge delta between practice ammo and carry ammo for the pistol.

IMO if you have a couple extra boxes of your defensive pistol ammo that's probably sufficient, enough to rotate out a few times / annually maybe.

So far, more than two dozen sheriffs around Illinois are planning on not enforcing the ban on sale and possession of “military-style weapons”. I wonder if more will join in?

Every brace that I'm aware of is objectively designed and intended as a stabilizing brace for use by individuals with disabilities and not for shouldering the weapon as a rifle. What an end user does with it does not change that. Ignoring that they have way overstepped their authority, even by their own wording here it sounds like a pistol with an unaltered retail brace is in the clear, as it is designed for use as a pistol.

Hard to tell.

Gotta just go 50/50.

There is no way to make it make sense because it's fuking stupid and shouldn't be a thing at all, and they also seem to really like using undefined terms and making things intentionally ambiguous and difficult for precisely that reason.

There is no way they don't have people in this process who know as much as or more than us weighing in

Probably people who are that crossover of LE and gun enthusiast that are more than happy to have special privileges for themselves

There was the same in all black (so it should be 250 less) at a shop. Floor model. And they wanted 2099. Had floor model scratches too. Like wtf. Thought that was a decent deal a week ago. Was wise to hold out

So I went to fill out my paperwork for my new CZ and the guy in front of me was told his place in the queue was something like 26,024 . There are 26,023 pending background checks in front of his in Oregon.

Since I went semi-cuck and got a CC permit I got to jump ahead, but I'm still like 12,046 or something. Damn, that's going to be a long wait.

for those that don't know Oregon is in the midst of a possible cuckening with firearm laws. everything is in limbo so everyone is buying everything they can.

Fuark. So I got the rest of my parts and realized that I need an updated license with my current address on it to buy a lower receiver. I'd take the time and money to go get one, but I plan on moving in two months out of state. I thought about getting an 80% lower done, but supposedly Nevada deems GhOsT gUnS illegal. I think I'm just going to wait for two months until I find out for sure if I'm going to transfer or not.

Pretty bright tritium…kinda wish the orange ring was a little bigger/stood out more…but only so much real estate on the front pin.

These are the stealth series that are made to run with an optic so probably better to be like that

ATF now has a FAQ page for the new brace ruling. Answer 7 specifically states you can in fact put a stock on the gun after filing and getting approved.

So apparently buying a brace or braced pistol now, or in the next 120ish days however many are left, it can not be registered for free.

"The tax forbearance only pertains to the firearms with an attached “stabilizing brace” in your
possession at the time the final rule is published."

So like the guy who got a great deal a couple days ago, etc, can't register for 'free'

Well that answers the question.

This has honeypot written all over it. Especially the submit pictures part of the deal. I wouldn't register anything, fuk that.

Meant 10. Don't know where I got 8 from.

I know you never make mistakes. Sorry.

Question:
ONCE THE FIREARM IS REGISTERED AS A SHORT-BARRELED RIFLE (SBR) CAN I REMOVE/CHANGE THE “STABILIZING BRACE” OR ATTACH AN ITEM MARKETED AS A STOCK? IF SO, AM I REQUIRED TO NOTIFY ATF IN ADVANCE?

Answer:
Yes, the firearm is registered as an SBR, and you can change out the “brace” device or stock for a
different brace or stock. You do not need to contact ATF/NFA because changing the brace/stock
does not change the configuration of the SBR. However, if the length of the firearm has changed
you will need to notify the NFA Division.

There's absolutely nowhere on the new form 1 that says you MUST submit pictures. It says you MIGHT have to. Any time you do a form 1 there's a possibility they will ask you for pics of the receiver. This is literally no different.

Had one I already planned to SBR at some point anyway…why would I not buy $200 worth of ammo instead of going this route?

What makes this any different at all than me doing the normal form 1 that requires me to pay the $200?

End result is both an SBR stamp and both end with the gun being registered technically. Only difference is one costs me $0, and the other costs me $200.

Would me handing over $200 to pay for what should be a right anyway to own an SBR show how bad ass I am instead? I'm so confused as to why so many people aren't ok with this.

If you NEVER planned to SBR your gun, I guess I get it. You don't want it registered. (Even though you're already on a dozen government lists anyway, so I'm not sure why them knowing you have 1 matters.)
But for those of us who planned to SBR at some point anyway…why not?

A picture of the receiver serial number and manufacturer are a requirement for an SBR application. I've done them before lol.

Anyone who sends pics of a receiver transferred as a rifle with a short barrel and a brace is going to get fuking nailed. They will ask and people will send them unknowingly. It definitely will happen.
