Driskel's Wikipedia page already says he's a 49er. Guy just got drafted a couple minutes ago.

Love the Driskel pick this late. No risk but if he can get his head right it could be a steal.
Kid is super talented but was a mess at Florida. Hopefully he's fixed his issues and uses the late pick to fuel him to keep getting better and put in the work now that things aren't just handed to him…something that happened as a 5 star recruit out of HS.

It looks like we signed another 8 in drafted players. Don't know anything about them yet. But I think this could be a decent draft. Time will tell….

Brandon Thomas, Marcus Martin have both struggled….say hello to Garnett and Beadles
Questions at OT, add two more OTs to compete.
Dontae Johnson, Kenneth Acker and Reaser not standing out…add 3 corners in the draft and make them fight for their jobs.
Very few guys are safe this year. We're even getting major competition at DL. Blair is a great pick late. Our DL could be special, just need the pass rushers behind them to step up and someone to play ok next to Bow.

Genus I agree a lot. I think even at TE, WR, RB, QB we are having competition. I like that, I think it will bring out the best in some of these guys.

Looking back no the draft really the only pick I had a major issue with is Robinson in the 4th round. Just too much risk and while it was a comp pick…i still hated seeing Dak Prescott go a few picks later. Would've liked to see what he can do under Chip.
Hopefully Robinson can get himself clean and use all that athletic ability to put it together.
Rest of the picks I think will be pretty darn good or at the very least get the guys on our roster currently to play better(or lose their jobs)

We just Eric Reids fifth year option. Do you guys think we sign him long term or is this his make or break it year?

He'll get signed long term so long as his agent is reasonable with what he's asking. Reid is decent but he's not even Top 10 at his position (or he hasn't been, minus his rookie year).

I think he's been playing a bit different after the concussions and while I can't blame him it obviously takes him away from being great.
Plus having Ward and Tartt we don't have to dish out big money for him.

Is it wrong to look ahead to our schedule and this early in the game to hope for #1 overall next year?
I'm hoping this season the young players show progress and the coaching staff shows progress(close/competitive games that we just end up losing)
I don't know if anyone can realistically look at our schedule right now, our roster right now and think this is a playoff team. Crazier things have happened but I just don't see it.
I think best thing for us is to have another suck season but not to the point of utter embarrassment which requires another house cleaning.
Next year's draft should have some studs at the top of the class. Everyone would be mocking Deshaun Watson to us but I think Myles Garrett would be the guy to draft with that top pick and then look at Luke Falk later in the draft(possible trade up into the first)
Watson, Garrett, Fournette, Dalvin Cook, Cam Robinson, Charles Harris….this class is going to be legit at the top. Plus i'm sure if we wanted it we could pull a similar move to what the Titans did this year although if they feel Watson is legit it would be hard to pass up a QB at the top with the glaring need there.

I'm fine with winning one game this year if they are all within one touchdown. It's the blowouts where we look hopeless that make you just want to tear up the roster.

I think Cleveland is still really really bad so getting #1 overall will be tough but it could be a blessing in disguise especially if we could get #2 overall behind Cleveland…they would certainly take Watson off the board and we could get a pass rush stud like Garrett to bring our defense to another level again.
My dik is getting hard thinking about what our D could look like with him there.

We'll see how it goes. I'll obviously will be rooting for us to win week 1 because you never know. Just looking at this roster now and the schedule we have I don't see how we could turn things around at this point with Gabbert and Kap at QB.
To me I'd rather see my team get a top 3 pick vs looking mediocre while winning 7 or 8 games then missing the playoffs.
You're guaranteed nothing in the draft but when you own those premium picks you get a lot of options…look at this year with the trade hauls that Titans and Browns got. And as mentioned next draft has some stud players at the top who can really bring this team to the next level.
I'll take one step back to take a giant leap forward…just wish Josh Rosen was available next year. I'm not sold on Deshaun Watson. Will have to watch all his games this year especially if it looks like we're on track for that #1 overall pick.
My big thing this year is I want to see our young guys step up. Even if it doesn't result in wins I want to see them compete and improve their technique and fight out there despite the crappy odds.
It's kind of crazy but years like this I mostly look forward to the preseason for the competition and analysis of our whole roster. There will be some interesting cuts this year.

I just don't see us having a top 3 pick next year. We won 5 games last year with crappy coaching. I can see us winning 6 games this year even though we have a tough schedule. I think Chip will get the offense in the top 20.
After thinking about the draft the past few days I'm just not sold on the Redman and Robinson picks. Yes I see the upside in both but I just didn't think personally that corner was that big of a need. I thought Acker, Cromartie, and Johnson all played well considering how long the QB had to throw the ball. Not many corners can cover for 5+ seconds. Anyways I'm excited to see how the dust settles in the secondary. Lots of competition at all the spots especially if they put Ward back at safety. Bethea seems like the odd man out at this point and I wonder if he's being shopped.
Also I was listening to the morning show on SiriusXM NFL Network and a Giant fan called in asking about the availability of A. Davis. The hosts said they heard he was probably on the market for a 4th rounder. Seems awful low but he did make a good point, AD "retired" due to concussions and getting his body right. Whats to stop him from retiring again if he gets concussed week 1? No team will be willing to give up a high pick to take that gamble. I think that's a legit concern for teams. I know I would be concerned in trading for him if I were a team. Anyways its probably going to be a conditional pick with probably us getting a 5th rounder at best. And that's if he files for reinstatement.

Yeah Davis is a POS who the team can't rely on. At this point he's done with us. A 4th rounder would actually be a good get. It's unfortunate because he's a pro bowl RT, possibly even LT when motivated but as you said he quit on us last year and at a really bad time. He obviously didn't care about his teammates or his coaches.
If he ever gets off the couch to file his reinstatement papers we should move him because I can't imagine us letting him stay on the roster and wait for him to screw us again.
As far as how many wins we get…yeah last year our coaching was awful and we still won 5 games but 2 of those wins were after the other team missed game winning field goals. Another win was with Steve Smith dropping like 3 TD passes in a game where we won by 5 points.
We really were the worst team in the league except we got a few more lucky breaks to get a few extra wins than our talent/play actually should've showed.
I expect Chip and the new coaches to get better play out of our guys but I think the lack of player leadership will hurt and it will take a little bit of adjustment to the new system.
Plus our schedule sucks…
The bolded are wins I think we can get
Rams
@Panthers
@Hawks
Cowboys
Cardinals
@Buffalo
Tampa Bay
New Orleans
@Cards
Pats
@Dolphins
@Bears
Jets
@Falcons
@Rams
Hawks
A lot of these teams improved more than we did, or at least have legit QBs in place. The away games are hard to predict and are never easy. Last year the one win we had was at Chicago and that should've been a loss.
That's 4 games which look winnable. Odds are some of those will change and others will look more winnable once the season gets going. Last year was really bad though. Our wins were close outside of the Vikings game(IMO Vikings just flat out overlooked us) and most of our losses weren't even close.
Of course this happens any time a team has questions at so many positions. Optimism for the season is hard to find right now…but we'll see if Chip can work some magic. Like I said I think having a crap season this year will actually help us more long term but I just hope in the process our young guys continue to develop and improve…and get ready to play for a playoff run in 2017.

Projecting an NFL Strength of Schedule BEFORE the season is comical.
There are like "5" rock solid franchises and then a whole bunch of mediocre ones that occasionally catch lightning in a bottle (looking at you Carolina) and go deep in the playoffs. Schedule strength means chit and injuries/holdouts etc… will alter games significantly. This team was fukking trash last year and managed to win 5 games. They're going to win 6 games this year.

Huge fan of Buckner, think he's going to be a really good pro. Hindsight is 20/20 but part of me wonders how differently the 49ers draft plays out if Laremy Tunsil wasn't such an idiot. What if Baalke had to choose between Ronnie Stanley and DeForest? How mad would some of you guys be if he chose the OT (which people are saying is who the 49ers REALLY wanted, but then again another source says Buckner was their guy all along)?
I also echo everyone's sentiment in saying **** Anthony Davis, the OT, not the bro (unibrow).

I think a stud DE is harder to find than a RT which is essentially what Tunsil/Stanley would've been at least for a few seasons so I was good with the pick.
Of course Buckner has to do his part. Hopefully he and Armstead push each other and both keep getting better. When the two of them play with proper technique they're hard to hold back. There's going to be a lot of push generated by that DL. We just need the outside backers to do their jobs.
Hopefully Tank and Eli step up. Lynch has been the only consistent threat since Aldon went full retard.

Crazy how only a few years ago we were so strong with Willis, Justin & Aldon, McDonald, Brooks playing better. Now it's like starting from scratch, but I'm hopeful about the young guys, even in the secondary.

I guess we can start getting into roster projections, anybody else not want to see Ahmad Brooks make the squad this year?
Also with this roster I love the camp competition that will be had, also think Baalke can do a great job of stashing some good young guys on the PS.

I think the biggest competition will be at OL and CB obviously.
I'll have my eyes on the TE competition. I was a big fan of Busta Anderson so I'm curious how he's going to look this camp. He has an uphill battle though with Celek, McDonald and Bell easily in front of him and others brought in to compete.
Not going to get into the numbers but how I'd personally like to see it…
QB: Gabbert, Kap, Driskell
RB: Hyde, Davis, Droughn, Taylor, Miller(TE/FB)
WR:Smith, Smelter, Ellington, Rogers, Patton, Burbridge
TE: Celek, McDonald, Bell, Anderson
OT: Staley, Brown, Cooper, Theus
OG: Garnett, Beadles, Thomas
C: Kilgore, Martin
DE: Buckner, Armstead, Dial, Blair
NT: Dorsey, Purcell
OLB: Lynch, Carradine, Harold, Brooks
ILB: Bowman, Hodges, Bellore
CB: Acker, Johnson, Redmond, Brock, Robinson
S: Reid, Tartt, Ward, McRay
ST: Dawson, Pinion, Nelson
….
I think that may leave another 1 or 2 roster spots taking a quick look at it. I think Ian Williams may start on the PUP and I have a feeling we may try to move Bethea depending how the other guys look. I'd like to get rid of Brooks but don't see anyone else stepping up. Maybe Rush can keep getting better and living up to his name but I think unfortunately Brooks will be the most proven/consistent option there.
