@JD805 who the **** are you to say whether or not someone has a legitimate reason to be depressed. Holy fuark the ridiculous ignorance in this thread is making me angry, can't believe IDIOTS still think in this way.
i'm out.
It was never my intention to upset you but as I said before some of us are stronger than others, not everyone sees others problems as "real" problems.

Likewise. I really hope people with this level of ignorance have some taste of what serious depression actually is like to live with and realise it is not about having some kind of situational right to feel that way. It gets so bad that people will actually kill themselves to be rid of their suffering - how many other illnesses are there where people will resort to this?

Suicide is a sad ****ing thing.

I think a lot of people who lose hope and commit suicide are people who see the cruelty in humanity and feel stuck in a certain spot with no way out. Someone like Robin Williams for example, a brilliant man who killed himself after he ran out of things in his life to laugh at.

Mental illness is no joke. As a man in today's society, suicide is something that's pretty easy to think about - the way women act, the way humans treat the earth, the dead end nature of almost every profession that currently exists, the inability to change your life's trajectory after you make a mistake (i.e. getting a job after being convicted of a misdemeanor), and many other reasons make it pretty easy to feel like life is cruel and long. Once depression sets in, it's extremely hard to get rid of. In fact, a lot of people believe that once you become depressed, you life will never be the same. You essentially have to live with your depression, it never fully goes away, but happiness can still exist among all the darkness.

Source: Went through a long 3 year fight with depression during grad school. I was stressed, hated school, didn't have an income and felt poor, girl I was in love with randomly went NC with me. I lost nearly all of my gains, gained 40 lbs, didn't go to the gym for almost 2 years, and my grades dropped significantly. Once I finished school and was studying for the BAR Exam I started dieting, going back to the gym, losing weight, and started working soon after. At that point my life got a bit better. I'm currently still battling feelings of depression, just broke up with my gf who I've been with for 3 years (still live with her, but it's not all that bad), lost 25 of the 40-50 lbs I gained, and started to regain my strength. Unluckily though, my past in sports messed up my vertebrae in my neck, and I have a ****ed up spinal column.. So I'm hoping that I can hold off on having spinal fusion in my neck for at least 10 years so I can live a young life until after my life's physical peak is over. Left side is a bit weaker than my right and my neurologist is going to do a follow up EMG to see if I have any permanent nerve damage in my left side, if so, I'll be out of the gym again for another 1+ years in order to get fusion in my c5, c6, and c7 (forminal narrowing, pinched nerve, 3 herniated discs, 6 bulging discs, and a degenerative cervical spine) all at the age of 26.

Feels pretty bad.

because the whole stigma of "being a man" is directly linked to being in control of your emotions and being able to ignore those emotions so that you can get on with your life/responsibilities.

Of course, its not realistic, but das life

That's not what i said *******. This thread is about MEN and when i'm talking about the demographic i'm obviously excluding women from the whole picture

Within the population of men, the majority are white which means you can say things like "80% of men dying each year are white" "5x more white men graduating from college than any other race" ect ect. These statistics don't mean chit unless you take into account that this demographic is over-represented
