Only on the misc you'll hear people say Ronaldo is better than Messi solely for this very reason. Messi is by far the GOAT. Commentators and football experts label him the greatest ever. I've never heard any expert or commentator utter the word Ronaldo and greatest in the same sentence.

Current iniesta, rakitic and busquets are nowhere near kroos and modric. Iniesta is older, busquets is the same player but does not suit the system enrique plays. Rakitic is the weakest of the bunch some could argue. Bale doesnt play and seems to suit the team, same with benzema being worse than suarez but suiting the system.

Based on goals it doesnt matter, they are similar give or take 10 goals. But even with Ronaldo playing out of his skin despite getting older Messi will match that and surpass, would be foolish to think otherwise. I think it's hard to deny that Messi is overall the better player. You could definitely argue though that Ronaldo has had a more successful and complete career, having proved himself in two different leagues, attaining international glory, etc. If he leads RM to CL success this year, he'll win his 5th B D'or and deservedly so - the guy is absolutely tearing it up this season at the most crucial of moments.

I think they've firmly cemented their place as 1 and 2 of all time. Nostalgia makes people idolise past legends, but none of them can compare to the impossible standard these two have set and maintained for over 10 years now. Truly the GOATs.
