When you skip portions of the trajectory, those portions of the fibers get skipped, and receive no activation from dynamic exertion. They simply shift immediately to stabilizers, or remain stabilizers throughout the entire set.Did a pretty long snowshoeing overnight hike yesterday, and was sore everywhere. Warmups felt heavy today, so did 3 sets of 260x3. This is the last set. This was followed by 245x2x3, and 225x2x5

To increase your overall strength, you want to use the fullest range of motion possible (extended even if possible), to most fully activate all the muscle fibers in the entire circuit of the muscle from end to end. Pausing in isotension is another advanced technique.
And if you want to know a super advanced technique for the bench, try putting some light weight on the bench. Lift it off the bar, come down all the way controlled to the nipple line, pause for a second, then come all the way back up to full extension. Now from full extension, extend the weight up higher as far as you can reach, as though you're trying to put the weight through the ceiling. Hold it there tempering your strength in isotension. Come back down to full extension, pause for a moment, and repeat the movement from there.
This technique isolates the connective portion of the pectoral muscle that connects to the front deltoid. You might feel the front deltoid being stressed, but it's doing so in unison with that connective portion from the chest. This is a great technique for helping to bring your chest development full circle. You can do it with dumbbells too, adding that apex extension forward to controlled dumbbell flys or presses.
You can also try doing more sets to 20-25-30/failure to quickly increase your chest capacity.

For the record, more than 10 reps isn't "doing cardio".
You can get a cardio benefit from this, but the context you're presenting suggests there's no muscle building benefit in doing high rep sets, which simply could never be proven true outside of favorable conditions. It also matters how much you're controlling the weight. Putting a strict control over the momentum of the weight is going to dramatically isolate each specific fiber, as the activation time on each fiber is dramatically increased through the extended duration to complete each rep. You do 20 reps like this and there might not be much of any cardio benefit involved, but the massive activation time on the fibers is going to peak microdamage on the muscles.
Strength building is all about isolation, microdamage, and activation time. If a burst rep, your fibers are getting literally a fraction of a second in activation time. They have some 30 seconds to 300 seconds of life in them. You'll never breach the depth of those fibers successfully with just a fraction of a second. If you're doing a compound movement, that means the activation is also split across various other muscles, bringing the overall activation time down further. Akin to this, one needs to utilize advanced technique to peak the activation time each tiny fiber receives to prime microdamage stimulation. This involves working stricter with the weight, pausing in isotension at a climactic point of the movement, and doing super-giant sets that work into higher rep ranges.
More work, more time, more activation, more microdamage. It's very simple physics.

If you'd like to refute them, try explaining how they're wrong in scientific detail like I said. I won't even hold it against you if there's no other reference of it anywhere else in the world. So long as it sounds legit by the most simplistic, theoretical understanding of biology and physics, it should make sense to me.
If you can't understand the explanations I gave this way, then maybe you need to question the integrity of your scientific understanding. It's possibly that underwhelming‒lacking even the most simplistic theoretical understanding to comprehend the dynamics of what was presented.
I'm trying to have a flame war, I just wanted to help the OP if I could. My methods are tried and true. Not asking anything of the OP (or anyone else) except to give them a fair chance and see for himself. Everybody deserves a fair chance.
As for the professional mainstream, if you seriously think the typical Molochian Athlete Big Sport, Big Supp millionaire cares for anyone else to achieve an equal (or greater) status than they have achieved, then you're totally missing out on the concept of desperation in the world. Chances are‒they probably don't. People tend to be way too broke on the inside. They need that Social Psychological Asset (of status, prowess, potential). It provides to them social domain amongst the big, scary social world of their peers (and their acceptance, denial, or authority among them). Given this fact, those professionals aren't likely going to be sharing their trade secrets of training with just anyone.
I'm not like that though‒I don't have anything to lose. I only have something to gain, as I find spiritual wealth in helping others escape from hopeless situations like this.

If you'd like to refute them, try explaining how they're wrong in scientific detail like I said. I won't even hold it against you if there's no other reference of it anywhere else in the world. So long as it sounds legit by the most simplistic, theoretical understanding of biology and physics, it should make sense to me.

It is literally just you vomiting out bro-science that is not represented by ANY competitive power lifter. Your closest representatives are professional xfitters. Except that they use olympic programming to gain strength first and then transition to endurance.
If you wanted to be even half persuasive you could have tried to half haphazardly tie time under tension producing enhanced muscle growth with enhanced muscle mass producing more force. It wouldn't have been accurate, but at least you could justify it.
As is you have the physique of a farm girl that stacks hay bales all day and don't seem to have any notable strength abilities. You can't even throw up bro-science by telling OP how you got there because you haven't...

I have no problem engaging in an intelligent, scientific discussion but I'm not about to engage in that with someone that has no practical knowledge.
Either post some kind of proof that you have practical experience or fuk off

It can literally mean nothing. It's a business first to them, and they all have big college bills to pay off before they can live it big in the California hills. It's no different than trusting a mechanic. You should have the same skepticism with Big Lab as you would them.
The best way is to always do it yourself you can. Close your eyes and go by heart. If it feels like your creatine isn't working anymore, question why. Find the relativity. You burned it all up with high intensity activity‒time to stop and reload. We can't always do the work ourselves, but you need to realize that you might be all you've got when it comes to a lot of things in life. There might not be anyone to bail you out. And there might even be people trying to put you in the hole to 1-up themselves. Safety first.

You are clearly the enlightened one and have super secret training methods not known by competitive power lifters because that information was suppressed by big supplements and big university for unknown reasons (given that this is just a innovating progressions scheme and they would have no reason to suppress it.)
I am just going to need to close my eyes trust my heart and rep you. What could go wrong?
