That really appeals to me, I’d love to be around more down to earth folk. I feel surrounded by superficial people here.

I really value genuineness, humility and a down to earth nature.

CA is full of superficial folk, and WA too in my experience along the coasts. Mid west folk seem to be friendlier but gossipy and backstabby.

So far the favorite people I’ve met are actually Southern for the genuineness and hospitality, and eastern for the no-bs nature.

Once you get into cities, anywhere, you tend to find the degenerate sluts and obnoxious libtards.

But who was thick snow and harsh winters ?

I’ve spent time in every corner of the country and the nicest, most welcoming people I met were in Washington state including the greater Seattle area. I saw someone talk about the “Seattle freeze” but I didn’t see any of that. I’m kind of anti social to start with so maybe my personality just meshed well. Seattle area is very liberal but the rest of the state is beautiful and leans red. Same with Oregon and Portland. If I could pick anywhere to live it would probably be Eastern Oregon or somewhere on the east coast in rural Pennsylvania or Maine area.

I’m in the central mid west currently and wouldn’t recommend it.

I should check out E Oregon, a couple of people have mentioned it. Since I can work remotely now, it might be doable.

Eastern Oregon is more conservative politically.
Eastern Oregon gets cold winters and hot dry summers.

I was going to suggest some mountain towns in the west broken down by geographic ranges: East Oregon, West Idaho, West Utah, (I no longer recommend east WA or CO after been there these past couple years) and I can get into deeper detail as needed, but if you're looking at the South, maybe probably high north and in the Appalachian mountain range, such as WV, VA, possibly NC, to keep from getting too hot and sticky. My experience living on the east coast is that Appalachian mountain people are the best friends I ever made. The smal mountian town mentailty is very down to earth and not corrupted by the superficial city-living mogging mentality. More conservative and with that higher quality women. The ones I met at least treated marriage sacrosant. Also, the Appalachian range is really pretty aesthetically.
Bottom line, what I've learned most having lived in eight states and lost track of how many cities, the culture, shared values and mindset of the people around you play a critical role in one's happiness of where one lives above all.
