2. The guys who tech to take themselves to the next level. More of a rarity, but some guys learn and hit something to their natural limit and use tech to take them further.

... personally, I don't care either way, it's not my life and I got my own worries to keep myself occupied, but while I don't particularly respect type 1 techies and I'm not especially interested in their opinions on training or bragging about themselves, I would not lump them with the type 2 types.

If a guy is a big strong guy who can maintain their gains, who learned how to train and diet before or at some point, tech or not they know their stuff. Really, they have a deeper and better understanding than I ever will, they know how to gain under normal situations, they understand tech intimately and they have a personal understanding of how to keep that ball rolling.
You're overlooking the most common one. The overwhelming majority

3. The guy that does it and somehow ends up looking worse than when he started while spreading absolute rubbish advice as if he had any clue.

Those people make up at least 85% of the culture

I'm trying to take lifting and eating right serious, but it ain't easy. Started going to the gym last week, going after work is the last thing on your mind.

As for eating, sht happens. You eat good for 2-3 days, boom your office gets tons of Christmas treats. You go back to eating good for 2 days, boom your grandmother's birthday and everyone is eating Beggar's pizza.

I will say, I really need to go shopping. I think Once I do that I should be ok. A miscer already awared me on Rotisserie chicken, gonna figure out where to start buying that.

srs, the tech hate on here is laughable. I really despise the guys that use being natty as an excuse to be fking subpar.

The reality is the natural guy is probably not tracking his food to a T, half asses his workout, and parties it up while coping meanwhile the guy on tech (that didn’t use it as a shortcut) is training his ass off twice a day, tracking his progress diligently, and surrounds a large part of his life with the gym.

with that being said, im only 5 ft 8 170 so i don’t have room to talk compared to most of you fukers so inb4 someone discredits me via a quote and lists my stats

No I played college football at 220. After that I joined the Air Force and was forced to drop to 193 quickly.

While in the air force I tried to get abs for the first time doing a program called Cybergenix.

A former Mr Hawaii ran the base gym and would help us.

I went from 193 to 168.

I got out came back to the states slowly got out of the gym but had a physical job. Got away from that job at 217 and ballooned up to 257 early in my marriage.

This is the God awful mess I was about 2002 or 03 then years removed from the gym.

At 40 I was divorced and they thought I had ALS fortunately I have a much milder neuromuscular disorder that makes things a challenge at times.

This is the start of my new cut

I'll get as low as I can I'd guess my floor is 15%

Btw:

Bobby and Arn seem like good examples of what this thread is actually about.

From what I gather they’re both reasonably lean now where no one in their right mind could call them fat or “soft” and they’re both strong as fuk with an emphasis on powerlifting. While they’re chasing strength, they’re not fooling themselves by adding unnecessary amounts of fat just to move a couple extra pounds.

Whatever their supplementation happens to be is mostly irrelevant, they’d both still be nearly the same versions of themselves without it but to a slightly lower degree.

Our genetics may give us different upper limits on strength and size but they certainly don’t doom you to be fat all your life and incapable of maintaining a nice, reasonably aesthetic bf% while still being able to chase down some of those strength or size goals.

Didn’t say the same, they’d likely still be well above average in both strength and size amongst serious gym goers while still maintaining a relatively lean physique. It’s just about striking the right balance and knowing how to eat and train, but not necessarily having to kill yourself with a rigorous diet.

No one needs an extreme diet just to maintain below 15%.
