The Explorer IIs are incredibly elegant, but I prefer the 39mm Explorer 1.

hey guys i hope i don't get flamed for this, but i have been looking for a watch for a while now, and i saw one on a celebrity on SNL that really catched my eye, and i really liked, (kanye west) i loved the color/model/band on it

would REALLY appreciate it if you guys could help me find which one or one similar, since you have alot more experience and knowledge than me,

couldn't find any really good pictures just these,

you can see it kind of at 2:37 onwards, as well as 3:30 and 3:38 (full screen + 1080p so u can see)

again doesn't have to be same one, just the model/color as close as possible, really like it

guessing either way if i found the exact model i prob wouldn't be able to afford it lol

again thank you brahs!! can't wait to buy something like this

Not Rolex, but I can hook you up with a vintage Omega in that price range.

I don't understand, are Invicta bad watches? like i said i'm not knowledgeable at all on watches, i simply saw a watch and really liked it, and wanted to know if i could get something similar in the price range i posted, as im only a college student working part time so can't afford something of rolex caliber

if i was rich and could pay 40k for it i would not only buy for myself but for everyone on the MWC crew on misc

The question is what you are looking for in a watch. Why do you want a watch? Do you just want it to look nice? Do you want it to impress other people? Do you want to appreciate it's history? Do you want a piece of craftmanship that has withstood the test of time? Do you want to jizz over some exquisite handfinishing? Most people in this thread have an appreciation for several of those facets but there are very little people who appreciate just the looks which is what a brand like Invicta/Fossil/Michael Kors is all about.

From looking at that video I see a flashy yellow gold rolex made to both visually and financially impress people with no real regards for anything else. Since you are looking in the 500$ range you aint gonna financially impress noone with your watch. Hell 99% of the population wouldn't even recognize anything but a rolex. Which makes me believe you want a watch that looks good.

pretty much man, i mean is there something wrong with that? liking nice things that look good? I understand the people getting watches with a meaning, just like those who decide to get tattoos with meaning, but i also won't bash someone if they get something just cause they like it, i don't think theres anything wrong with that.

I'm not trying to impress anyone, I simply saw that watch in that video and really really liked it, i loved the band on it, the way it was designed, and the color, etc. and was just hoping to find something similar around my price range,

so i posted here since i don't have much knowledge on watches meanwhile people ITT do, so i thought i could be helped in finding something similar to it in my price range, not sure what else to say, just trying to be as honest as possible.

Are you sure you liked the watch? Or did you like the celebrity & image in the video?

The reason some people will take offense to it in here is that the look isn't all there is to a watch, otherwise everyone would be wearing blinged up, overpriced fashion watches. Read the OP basically and some of the thread and you'll get a sense of the general flow of tastes and why asking for something that looks like a bling 40k watch for $500 might get a negative reaction.

Even just go back through 10 pages and look at the watches people have posted that have gold on them, understated is usually where it's at and there needs to be some design elements going on that mean the gold complements the form rather than just being something a ghetto rapper who "made it" would pick out of a Cartier window and then ask them to add more diamonds.

What?

I made a post because i liked the watch, otherwise i would have made the post about the celebrity, or something else lol

i understand what you are getting at but from my perspective its really not that complicated,

i saw a watch that I liked,(aesthetically pleasing for me to look at) so i wanted to know if it was possible getting a similar looking one in my price range, that's pretty much it,

not everything has to have a meaning or story behind it imo

Not really about the story or meaning. Hell I couldn't care less if some celebrity wore a watch which for some people increases it's value by a ton. I don't think there is something similar to what you requested at your price range that I would deem decent value for your money. They do exist but from a wristwatch enthusiast point of view they offer a bad value proposition with a large neglect for the movement of the watch.

I think my point may be best explained by this video.

This is how what you are asking for looks like in real life.

repped for using proper video embed format, if thats a yellow gold day date your best option is going to be something else gold with the fluted bezel (citizen 7 eagles come to mind)

not my style, I don't particularly care for gold, but that's cause of my skin tone and the look it portrays when I wear it. Secondly those movados imo aren't really worth the coin they ask for. Your best bet is to nab an entry level gold piece from one of the Map. Big three or even bulova. Know that for 500 dollars you can get quite a bit of watch technically speaking. You can get something with a decent mechanical movement, and sapphire crystal in that range. At least a stainless case (gold is plating in this price range, so be ware of scratches and wear revealing stainless underneath). Seiko, citizen, bulova, tissot, Orient, Hamilton, all decent bang for your buck, as well as tons of micro brands. How ever if your looking based on purely aesthetic desire the fashion/accessories thread may be better suited for your needs.

can you explain the differences between those I posted and the ones you mentioned?

i really like those movados but if they are considered trash then i would never throw my money away like that, again im just trying to get as close as the one i posted in my first post with the video that kanye was wearing

Do any Rolex owners recommend Everest rubber or leather straps for a sub or explorer? I have a new preference of leather straps for my watches as I can get a perfect fit. Even though the Rolex bracelets are extremely comfortable and some of the best in the business.

I will reps pics if you brahs have them.

Top 5 laundry detergents in the game (don't judge my opinion):

1.Tide (delivers a clean and fresh style of)
2.Oxi clean (attacks dry stains like a monster)
3.all (deserves a spot in the top 5 but not the best)
4.wisk (I respect the stain spectrum tech. But needs to fight harder for that top 3)
5.purex (up and coming in the game)
