You don't normally take what is legally a handgun, make 0 changes whatsoever, and suddenly it's legally an SBR and you better register or bye bye doggo

Where does the ATF say that? I know several people who have form 1 SBR's and not a single one uploaded or sent photos of their receiver. Some people do it only to avoid the possibility of them asking and further delaying anything.

I'm sure it will. Any FFL who know what the fk they're doing will transfer receivers as other. Not rifle.

So again - what makes this any different for someone who already planned to form 1 for an SBR anyway?

Someone who already planned to SBR? No different.

Estimate on the number of braced pistol owners who intended to SBR their firearm in the next 4 months? I'd put the over/under at 1%

I'm not disagreeing. And like I already said - I might be upset too if I had ENVER planned to SBR my gun. But for someone who planned to already, this is no different at all other than it costs $0 instead of $200.

Go for it and report back.

I have two registered title II receivers, kinda curious how it will go.

Had one I already planned to SBR at some point anyway…why would I not buy $200 worth of ammo instead of going this route?

What makes this any different at all than me doing the normal form 1 that requires me to pay the $200?

End result is both an SBR stamp and both end with the gun being registered technically. Only difference is one costs me $0, and the other costs me $200.

Would me handing over $200 to pay for what should be a right anyway to own an SBR show how bad ass I am instead? I'm so confused as to why so many people aren't ok with this.

If you NEVER planned to SBR your gun, I guess I get it. You don't want it registered. (Even though you're already on a dozen government lists anyway, so I'm not sure why them knowing you have 1 matters.)
But for those of us who planned to SBR at some point anyway…why not?

possession at the time the final rule is published."

So like the guy who got a great deal a couple days ago, etc, can't register for 'free'
That guy bought it the day before the rule came out and did the owner paperwork the day of. Not like it matters anyway

Depends on whether or not the ATF decides to carry I guess. It's written as possess, paying for it isn't possessing it. Just sayin', don't put anything past the AFT

There’s realistically no way they can really enforce it…
Maybe you had a friends brace on it before you bought your own. Maybe you found one on the side the road one day before you bought a new one. I mean, really…

This will be a different list, obviously. Not publicly. It's the same form. But they are clearly going to know who got on the free "I was cheating the system with the pistol brace" $0 fee list and who was on the normal "I play by the rules" $200 fee list.

So which group do you think will be randomly suspected of having oil filter suppressors and other "loophole" items worth visiting to inspect?

In this case it would be you filled out the 4473 at the FFL after the release of the thing, but, overall, it's a massive dumbass cluster fuk of illegal unconstitutional impossibility and I hope even 1/4 of the pistol braces owned out there all file within the 120 days just to see what happens

I would bet less than 1/10 hear about it. Unless you actively follow 2A groups on social media, it's not a thing making any news.

Here is my #1 question they nobody is asking-

What happens when people inevitably file the paperwork after the 120 day mark? You know people will hear about this late, not read the full details and send in their form 1 anyway. They are then basically certifying the fact they are committing a crime.

You do realize if you don't upload pics and they decide they want them, they deny you application and you go to the back of the line. You have to start all over again, fingerprints and everything. And hopefully that happens within their cucking 120 days.

Trust me, I've been denied on a SBR Form 1. They make you start all over again even with the slightest error.
