I really want to love the Hulk and I admit the sunburst dial is stunning but I think it's just a little to green for my liking. The smurf on the other hand is a beauty!

What are you hoping for from Rolex at Basel this year? Vicious rumours RE ceramic daytonas. Keeping my fingers crossed for an addition to the SS GMT line up! (We can live in hope :P)

ceramic daytona seems the most likely. but who knows…..i really hope they dont though….cause then ill have to get a new watch

you know what they should really get rid off? the screw down pushers. its supposed to be a timer. yet its so inconvenient to screw and unscrew so you can push them down. yet if you dont screw them down they arent water resistant. smh

i think they could introduce more stainless models on rubber. people LOVE putting their watches on rubber. especially DSSD, SD4K, Subs, Daytonas, GMTs. everything.

Depending on the lighting, it can change color completely. It can go from a very green, to an almost black color, to a sort of goldish metallic green. The variation is what I like most about it.

The one's you posted have very little horological value and for 500 dollars you can find something wayyy cooler. The difference is that you can buy a sub 100 dollar gold-looking Seiko and accomplish the same goal as you could with your 500 dollar gold-looking Movado. Also, those Japanese watches (especially the orient) posted look much closer to the design of the Rolex Day-Date.

I have mixed feelings on the hulk sub. It's a hit or miss for me. I absolutely love the batman, though. One of my favorite Rolex watches of all time.

Also, what does the MWC think about the black vs white dial Daytonas? I just don't think the black dial does Rolex any justice (unless it's an Explorer or Submariner). That said, both watches are quite lovely.

can you explain what horlogical value is, never heard that before

& well i mean you could say that about any watch no?

you can buy a sub 100 dollar gold looking seiko and accomplish the same goal as the $40k rolex day date

i think the movado's look nicer because the face or plate thing on them is yellow/gold too unlike the ones he posted

unless there are also ones with the yellow gold face too for those brands?

Horological value means the watch and watch brand has history, heritage, and of course, value. Patek, Audemars, Lange, Rolex. Not sh*tty Michael Kors, Movado, Fossil, etc.

The Daytona looks excellent in both colour, however I prefer the white face as I am biased.

The Daytona would be one of my all time favourite watches.

Sorry bro we are not trying to be rude, but you are very nave (which is not a criticism, you are just nave to this particular hobby), you need to understand you are kind of asking us "hey what Ferrari is Kanye West driving and can I get a similar car for $2000?" - in short no, you may find a watch that looks similar, but it is in fact very different.

The Seiko and citizens posted previously are as close as you are going to get and they are decent. Yet, you don't seem to want to listen to us. It seems the gold Movado's distracted you because they are shiny lmao. It is time to do your own research.

Have a look at these websites and start reading:

http://www.ablogtowatch.com/

http://wornandwound.com/ (this site is good for less expensive models)

In my opinion, buy a Seiko, orient or citizen you like or save you money and buy a watch in a few years. Something like an omega speedmaster reduced.

anything full gold will likely cost atleast 3 thousand, due to the value of gold alone. even for a homage

but a homage wouldnt have a full gold version. likely just gold plated.

personally I look at a watch for a long time before pulling the trigger on a purchase. I do not buy them that often. And when I do pull the trigger, I usually sell something else to help offset the cost.

not ceo'ing. My wife and I both work, and have no kids, so we have a little bit of expendable cash, you just have to allow yourself to spend a certain % of each check on what ever you like. Even if it's only 50 a week it adds up, quickly, and it allows you to hone in on what you want. You won't build a collection over night. You can sell other things you are no longer interested in and use that money etc. There are many ways to do it. A couple of thousand dollars isn't a huge amount to save if your savvy, but it's a big amount to spend so when you sit back and look at all the meaningless nickle and dime spending you do, and correct it, you can find the spare change after a few months to pick up something nice. just be sure before you spend your allowance you are certain you've narrowed your choice down. Rinse repeat.

LMAO oh ok im sorry brahs, i really didn't know that it was similar to cars like that haha

i mean in my head, i thought that since not everyone can afford a rolex, there are companys that makes similar ones, unlike cars where u can either get a ferrari or u cant, nothing similar,

again i apologize,

i would like to add though

i was browsing ebay and i found these 2 on there, and i think they look extremely close to that rolex,

I don't want to be a dikhead, but the best advice you're gonna get is to buy whichever one you think looks the most like Kanye's watch. Literally, do not consider any other factors when deciding.

Just save some money. It's always nice to have some $$$ so you can invest in something nice for yourself. Whether it be a cruise ticket, watch, new TV, etc (serious). That said, investing in a luxury watch is a big deal. Do research and figure out what you could see yourself wearing.

again i said that even though that's what im going for, i want to buy from a reputable company like mentioned in this thread, which is why i took the advice of people on here on the movado's i posted, and disregarded them since they don't have "horological value"

so i wanted the more knowledgeable people ITT's opinion's on the ones i just posted, which i found and am trying to find brand new but so far have had no luck

Tbh it doesn't matter much, you're buying a $200 watch, just buy whatever the **** you like, but please quit spamming the thread with these gaudy watches.

You know where and what to look for, now it's time you stand on your own legs.

thanks a lot for sharing how you guys deal with getting such nice watches. I was always assuming these threads had people who were on 150k + incomes.
I am actually after another good quality watch for decent price. I have a Orient Bambino (black face) for classy and a Seiko Sea Urchin (sub). I actually love the sub and still get a kick out of wearing it. My fav would be a rolex submariner.

I am wondering what the next purchase should be for building a collection. I keep wanting subs and wanted the Steinhart Ocean in black but it is too identical to my seiko.

TLDR: looking to build a nice collection. Have a Seiko sub what are the next ones.

Some looks that i love: Rolex Yachtmaster (the blue bezel, 2 tone) and Explorer 2 (all white)

You know where and what to look for, now it's time you stand on your own legs.

I am actually after another good quality watch for decent price. I have a Orient Bambino (black face) for classy and a Seiko Sea Urchin (sub). I actually love the sub and still get a kick out of wearing it. My fav would be a rolex submariner.

Lol. It's more about being smart with your money than it is about earning a ****ton.

Please stop quoting pictures that are on the exact same page. Either delete the img tags, or insert spoiler tags, it's in the OP.

All the ones you mentioned don't have horological value. But in the end what does it matter? You just want flashy flashy bling bling, horological value doesn't matter for that, since no collector will want to buy it, nor give you any cred for it. Buy whichever gold looking Liberace watch you want bruh

Both Bulova and Orient have low range entry level watches. For this one I'd put them on the same level. Orient is a Seiko subsidiary.

Movado actually has a fairly storied history and they made some fantastic pieces back in the day. You wouldn't know it based on today's Movado because they've gone to chit but to group them with Michael Kors and Fossil is pretty far out there.
