Niceeeee if it's anything like mine which I've heard it lives up to the hype you'll love it. First art series I've ever owned and I'm super pleased with mine.

Not gonna lie I've used the canon 24-70 mark ii and after using the sigma… Definitely happy with the sigma. People have been down talking this lens so bad but in retrospect sigma released some really really good glass with the art series so people had very high expectations its not a home run but id call it a triple play a step below a home run without a doubt.

that being said heres some shots I captured with it.

how would you fair it against the 24-70 II? I was going to pick that up instead of the 35mm art.. but i was gonna wait on the IS (if it ever comes out lmao)

I like the mark ii think the weight has a great balance to it plus I'm used to the zoom ring on canons. The sigma's zoom ring is backwards but you get used to it. The sigma is definitely heavier no doubt but it's not a huge deal for me. The IS on the sigma is awesome I have shaky hands and this thing was fantastic with it. I recommend if there is a camera shop close to you see if they'll let you try it, lucky for me there's one not far from me and they were cool enough to show me the sigmas before they were supposed to and I loved it off the bat. But for the price of the mark ii versus the sigma I just can't justify the mark ii for an extra 700-800 dollars (pending taxes) and doesn't even have any Image stabilization that baffles me. For me it works but for others the mark ii works for them just depends on the person.

So my real test for the sigma 24-70 was seeing how well it would handle the concert photography I'm very into and boy it was phenomenal, the sharpness the crisp colors and its crazy how fast its constantly focusing. Heres some shots to show it was a blast editing these

You're doing great. ^^ Also, as you advance, you might want to reference composition and focal point .

Visiting my mate in Thailand. Stopped off on the way to Pattaya to see these little guys. Outside of my dogs, these were the first animals I've tried taking pictures off.

Edit: And how do you upload pictures on here without losing quality? The above picture looks a lot more crisp on my desktop or on my phone

Not much more you could have done with that gear so I'd be satisfied with the result. 20-30 seconds is at the limit where you'll see star trails.

A faster lens like a 2.8 (or faster) wide open will help but you can run into depth of field issues if you have objects in the foreground close to the lens that you want in focus along with the stars. Focus stacking is an option if you can pull it off cleanly and have the software.

Shooting a pano with a slightly longer lens can help in terms of giving you more resolution to work with so grain is less noticeable at a given print size. If you're not using a dedicated pano head then simply use more overlap to avoid stitching errors (e.g. 50%).

No sugar coating it, a full frame sensor would definitely help keep the noise down at higher ISO compared to a smaller crop sensor. Something to consider if you have the budget for it.

Lastly, you can fraud it up with Photoshop. Many do this without telling anyone and even worse drop in a sky from a different location and time altogether. They'll shoot a long exposure at low ISO for the foreground and then blend in the sky shot at high ISO. Nothing wrong with that approach of course but I see it more as digital art than a photograph.

Also, hopefully the next generation database forums will have caught up with technology. But since there's no financial incentives, I wouldn't look for any changes anytime soon.

Canon T6 Rebel Crew. I didn't think I'd be as into photography as I would be (I got it in April, and since then I have never put it down), so I got the bottom end DSLR. If anyone has any recommendations for a Body/Lens for $2k lmk. I shoot mainly landscapes.

Canon 5DS. Since you're already Canon (glass) specific. They should be available for just around that price slightly used on ebay.

Definitely recommend the 6d with lens kit can get it brand new for around 1800 if you buy off BandH zero taxes collected, and same thing on Adoroma. Rocking the 6d currently but strayed away from my canon ways and bought the sigma 24-70 art lens and I love it. just be aware going full frame you cannot use the crop sensor lens as you can full frame. Funny I started on a rebel t3 it was my parents at the time and I just used it more often then them lol

Thanks!
Well not really a criticism, but more like an observation. It's difficult to describe, and entire books have been devoted to it. I only read a chapter, but I know it when I see it. Anyway, maybe this will help?

Fair enough.

Without tourists spending money/donating at those places, the animals will just be killed. Until Thai gov passes legislation outlawing animal "sanctuaries," nothing will change.

I don't work there, so I won't make an assumptions that the animals are treated well. The facilities were cleaner than my local zoo's, but who knows what goes on behind the scenes. I don't believe that a majority of animals in captivity are treated well. However, having animals in captivity allow the wild population more time to try and rebound before the species goes extinct.

I took this a year ago with a Nikon D750 85mm lens set to auto

how terrible is it? First camera and new to high end cameras like this. I used light room to do the little bit of editing I did.
I just found it on my desktop so figure I'd get some opinions.

It's not terrible it's just not all that interesting. You need to do more to make the house pop. Lighting is one way to separate the house form the distracting foreground/background. You can also experiment with color under b&w adjustment. Angle and composition may also be considered.
