Do any of you have a small setup?

I was at Guitar Center today and saw some desktop amps that were pretty cool.

Those were nice and clean like if you had an office one of those would be nice.

I am looking at the Orange Micro Terror Head/PPC108 as my little guy.

I use an Engl Ironball SE into probably one of the smallest and lightest 2x12s on the market the DV Mark 2x12. But that's obviously not a desktop amp.

You should look into the Yamaha desktop amps, those get a pretty good buzz. I kinda think Orange sucks.

I write a bunch but can't be arsed to record anymore.. The mixing, mastering, drums and all that stuff is so annoying, I just like to play and write chit.. Every once in a while I'll go to my unfinished songs folder, listen to some old chit and think "damn swimmy you're a fuking genius for writing this m8" and then open logic pro to start recording but as soon as I have to work on anything non-guitar related I just get bored and close that chit.
How about you breh, putting out any music?

I got a Spark 40 and a Nux Mighty lite. The Nux can use batteries so I use it out in the yard. The spark is much more versatile tho with the app

Exact same modeling but obviously the sound is not going to be as beefy and large. But has an excellent rechargeable battery.

I jump on mine when my left hand gets tired.

You're gonna notice when playing one, your understanding/feel for the other just shoots up.

It's unexplainable but palpable.

I'll play guitar for an hour and when I jump on the piano I feel like my fingers just tend to find the right keys.

When I go from piano to guitar I feel like the fretboard somehow just makes more sense.

And then if you get into the aspect of reading music/sight reading of course that's gonna take everything to the next level (I suggest PianoMarvel).

Actually now looking at a Line 6 Spider.

Was only looking at Orange because I heard those Micro heads are amazing.

Maybe I'll get one down the line but just want something to BS with and record guitar parts onto beats, so Spider with an expression pedal seems like the best bet right now.

I just checked it out….damn clean looking piano.
Did you get the cool adjustable seat too?

I can play keys on my original drivel but I don't consider myself a proficient player at all.

Have fun.

Hey Wayne!

Thanks, I'm very much looking forward to testing it out.
I actually did not get a super nice seat but I should have. I got the standard black memory foam bench like the ones you see at Guitar Center.

I'm not a tremendous player either but I definitely enjoy piano.

Well….

I'm not too enamored with strictly guitar-centric music/songs.
I'm just a rhythm guitar player/song writer but I like including keyboard/organ/synth tracks to my efforts.
It adds a whole new dimension to ones songs.

If I'm being totally honest guitar can never sound as classy as the piano can. I love guitar and the way guitar sounds but it just never hits that level of elegance, imo, that a piano is capable of.

Nice. I picked up one of these a few years ago and play it more than guitar. It feels and sounds like a real piano which is all I care about. Great compositional tool. No computers or other distractions involved.

I think you mentioned a while back you were interested in learning more theory. My 2 cents is it's better to learn it on a piano and then apply it to other instruments. On guitar you're always memorizing shapes which are completely meaningless elsewhere. On piano you're forced to see the notes of scales, chords, and melodic ideas. Once you learn the fretboard cold you can then see all those notes you committed to memory on the piano.

That’s a nice one with the GH3 action. I’m still mulling over the Yamaha P515 which has the next step up NWX action with wooden keys.

The ES920 has a great sound and feel but the build quality is a little cheesy.

Statement regarding a Quad Cortex security vulnerability

Unfortunately, due to the exploit, approximately 3300 names and email addresses were viewable by a small number of individuals who are attempting to expose security vulnerabilities on Quad Cortex.

Quad Cortex also records the names and passwords of all the WiFi networks it has connected to since the last factory reset. Unfortunately this data was not encrypted.

would you always get a head & cab instead of a combo?

i like the idea of a combo, being able to take it around, but if I invest good money in a combo it's going to be no good for gigs

i can't imagine an amp with a 12" speaker is going to fill many pubs/clubs, even though they're not particular massive venues.

what combo have you gigged with over a drummer before?

Are you talking about amps with a single 12" speaker? I've used a few different 2/12 amps. Are you not going through the PA?

I got sick of carrying my 4/12 around years ago and got a 2/12 cab. A 50 or 100 watt head is fukking loud.

Your situation might be different and maybe you do need something bigger

i'm not gigging right now but I imagine i'd be playing to 500 peeps max atm. yeah i'm trying to find an amp solution that would work at home and not be completely impractical, as well as fill a theatre. i have a kemper but I want to keep that for studio use. I definitely want a real amp/pedalboard for gigging
