The 4x32 thing that some people don't like is the very short eye relief.

But some people say if you get the rifle set up and adjusted right and index properly every time you bring it up to shoulder and cheek, it's fine.
What you get in exchange for the shty eye relief on that model is small and light with 'high' mag and a wide field of view.
The 3x30 TA33has more eye relief but FOV is like looking through a straw.
The 3.5x TA11 has lots of eye relief and a wide field of view but is substantially larger (and while not heavy by magnified optic standards, is heavier than the 4x)
The others are significantly lower magnification although the TA44 1.5x has the widest FOV of any and also great eye relief, and the TA45 1.5x has so much eye relief you could probably use it as a scout scope

I want to be able to control my illum….which the TA-02 does perfectly. (While still having an etched reticle if god forbid I have no battery).
FOV is amazing on the TA-02…..will be great for those longer/take your time/more precise shots. While the aimpoint/red dot combo for quick target acquisition and CQB.
I don't think there is another acog beside the TA-02 tailored for 300blk (has the nice sub and super reticle with chevron) in a shorter barrel ( i.e less that 16")

300 blk subsonic is a funky round. Not known for being very accurate out to 100 yds or more. You'll have to experiment if you want to find the most accurate plinking round for you particular barrel. Any of the major brands are good, except Winchester just skip them. Ammo Inc 220 gr is the cheapest good brand right now imo.
Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos 115 gr supersonic is what I hunt with. Super accurate stuff.
Lehigh Defense Maximum Expansion 194 gr is supposed to be great subsonic SD ammo.

Also, from my experience with non match barrels, 3 moa is a great group for 300 blk subsonics.
Most of the ammo I've used is like 4 - 6 moa.
Federal match 220 gr got me a 1.5 moa and a few 2 moa groups.

Anyone here familiar with good gun clubs in my neck of the woods? Seems the ones in New York are awful, to say the least, and some folks here recommended I head out to Pennsylvania for a far better experience.
One of my colleagues is interested in training - I have done quite a bit of shooting, but don't have any firearms here in NYC. So I'd like a club where I could use a variety of guns, the post I put on the first page was one gun club I love in Germany - military trainers and sharpshooter competitions!

Man I love this setup. Great comfort out of the stock and longer buffer tube, the LaRue upper is heavy but robust and very well put together. The trigger is super crisp and has very little travel. The gen 3 Magpul sights are very nice, definitely like the lower profile and design over the gen 2. I'm glad I went with the Aero lower, well designed and of good quality.
LaRue 16" upper
Aero lower
Magpul STR stock
BCM A5 buffer setup
BCM QD attachment on other side of the guard
Aero internal lower parts
Magpul gen 3 flip up sights
Magpul MIAD grip
Magpul fore grip and QD4 gen 2 sling are in the mail.
Still deciding on a red dot setup, but I have a feeling that I'll end up getting an EOTech exps3. Totally lost on magnifiers, I might just have to go to a shop and see if I can look threw some to help me decide. I could just get the EOTech alone, it still seems to work nice by itself.
And I ended up using my Pretty Sweet & Awesome drop in trigger. I was going to order a LaRue tripper, but I already had this one and it works damn good. If it ever fails, I'll post about it so I can get the I told you so's.

I run magnifiers on all my AR’s equipped with Aimpoints or Eotechs. Love them personally, easy to take on and off as needed. Criticisms regarding eye relief are valid but get some training and it’s not a huge issue.

Trijicon brahs…..how do you like the red reticle? How does it pick up under nods?
I tend to go for and prefer green myself (Holoson and laser on my g19 is green), but my aimpoint that is coming is red (fairly certain the Micro T-2 doesn't come in green)….so if I run a green Trijicon TA-02 and have a red aimpoint it might F with me a bit going back and forth (both being mounted)…and its just a small crosshairs…not a chevron etc
Green Trij TA-02 are sold out, so was considering just getting the red so both optics are same color.

My 11.5” BCM rocks an EOTech EXPS-3 with no magnifier. I’m plenty comfortable hitting man sized steel with it out to 200 yards, and my intent/use for that particular gun doesn’t go anywhere near that range, so for me to add the extra weight of a magnifier that has more negatives than positives (IMO) doesn’t make sense.
My 16” rifle rocks a Viper PST Gen II 1-6.
At 1X im not quite as fast with it as the Eotech - but it’s not exactly slow either.
If you know you’re going to want magnification, an LPVO is usually a better choice (again, IMO) than a dot with a magnifier.
Yes, LPVO with mount will be heavier, but it can do everything a dot can do (aside from NV use unless you get a really fking high end LPVO), and sh|ts on a magnifier in absolutely every way.

IMO for mid range magnification (which probably is what matches a 5.56 best anyway)
[ACOG + mRDS] > LPVO >> RDS + magnifier
If you want the magnifier route I think a holo sight like an EOTech or the Vortex UH-1 is a better fit for the magnifier
If you only have the one rifle and it's home defense and you also want to shoot groups or somewhat distance with it (and maybe get "PID" at somewhat distance), an RDS and a quick release flip to side magnifier so you can add the magnifier as desired at the range etc makes the most sense, then you can have the always on battery life of an RDS for HD but still magnifier
If you only want the one rifle a light LPVO, like a 1-4 or maybe a lightweight 1-6 might do it. But but an mRDS also or get really good at making sure it's on 1x

Dot + magnifier is goat setup if you want to prioritize 1x and want to have a bit of magnification as needed. Acog + rmr doesnt prioritize 1x and neither does LPVO.
In conclusion, dot + magnifier is goated for a do all AR. Home defense. Boog. Neighborhood watch. It does it all

If you need a rifle that you KNOW you’ll want magnification on, it’s basically impossible to beat an LPVO. Experienced shooters have proven that if you’re willing to put the time in, you can absolutely be just as fast with an LPVO at 1X as you can a dot. And on the magnification side, you’re going to run circles around the dot/magnifier setup due to better FOV and WAY better glass clarity. Not to mention reticles that are much, much better suited to shooting those distances.
If you REALLY think you need something else for 1X shooting, throw an RMR or something on an offset mount.

LPVO 1x is a sacrifice vs an Aimpoint. That is not up for debate. Not just talking about bill drills on the flat range bud

Keep “forming your own opinions” though I guess.
