A nice tip for the brahs heading into the Maelstrom quest:

Spoiler!
You can remove the virus on the chip AND copy the Daemon infecting the chip for future use. I was trying to figure out whether you could keep the chip then upload the virus (you can't) but all the people I watched do the quest only did either. If you don't intend on helping Stout might as well do both.

Nah man, I figured I'd get it on medium/dlss/rtx off, but that's not the case. I don't think it's hardware limited as utilization isn't very high on my gpu/cpu. I'm not retarded lol.

Yeah also I haven't really looked into the reasons for delays, but some of it must be the cut content and optimization to make it run on the older gen.

They got the Witcher to run on the switch so maybe they had high hopes

It's not my pc man, mate with similar build has the same issues. It's the game. Found some culprits though. Cascading shadow options and volumetric settings appear slightly broken. Turning them off + a reset of the game I'm now on 90-100fps constantly with everything else high/ultra and DLSS on.

Weird technical state.

Lets say you're using HDR, do you guy turn up the settings in windows Nvidia panel or on your TV?

DO you guys use digital vibrance for this or leave it at default?

Theres 3 different settings on the HDR settings screen in game that I don't understand… like paper white…

Do you guys mess with saturation settings like digital vibrance?

Or the "dynamic" super bright option on the TV, can't make sense of all the options.

I feel like its a mistake to try to make the brighter colors and neons "pop" in this game because then the baseline of everything turns orange.

what about that going super dark thing that people used to do in Witcher 3? To make bolder colors

I've just given up on hdr, some games it's great sometimes it dulls the colours. There is three places to turn it on Windows, geforce and in game I assume they should all be on dunno if they're clashing or anything sometimes chrome and the desktop get dull too but they're not really hdr so.

I'm used to poverty minimum setting so I don't have a clue

Honestly feel like they could've used another release patch here just for the graphics. Played into the open world and the bugs just break the immersion.

Also wth is the inventory key bind? I have to go into my messages, which sometimes don't track, and back click to all the different menus. Also not digging how low res your character looks in inventory.

Still pretty immersive though, but I feel like the visuals in witcher 3 are a lot sharper and crisp, although that could just be the dlss.

Getting 15 fps with no dlss lol, high settings on 1440p with ray tracing on.

Are you using DLSS Quality? That's the one you have to use. With the quality setting, I notice literally zero difference between image quality with or without it on. Just a big boost in performance. If you do DLSS Performance or DLSS Ultra Performance, you will get a ton of performance FPS wise, but lots of noise in the image quality.

I was getting well over 60 before finally locking to 60. Upgrade hardware or stop whining. WTF do you expect when you buy the nicest looking game we've basically ever seen to date?

Yea I had it on auto at first. Didn't touch it b/c thought dlss only applied to up scaling lower screen res to native 2k/4k


Running the game on ryzen 7 2700x and 2080 rtx.

i don't care about the graphical difference, but the framerate dipping below 20 fps during gunfights is a nono for me.

Regardless it’s pretty fair to criticize the management. No shot anyone thought releasing on last gen was a good idea lol. In March they should’ve straight delayed until the following spring and only done ps5/series x/pc

Glad I have a pc, but definitely feel for console plebs with no other options.

I’m assuming halo infinite doing something similar by delaying a full year straight up

2 hours in, works amazing so far. steady 85-90ish fps with full ray tracing and ultra settings at 1440P. DLSS set to quality (9900k and 3090)

It deserves a 5/10 on those platforms on performance alone

Sure 9+/10 on pc (i'd argue an 8 in its current buggy mess of a state) but the fact is they actively chose to release this on those consoles and it doesn't run on them. at all.

They should have released in on PC only and released everything else in a more polished state at a future date and they don't deserve a free pass because it's a beautiful, albeit unoptimized and buggy, game on a rtx 3080/3090

Sure you can say "oh well you're an idiot if you buy this game on a base ps4". 1) i didn't. 2) the dev is responsible for the product they put forth. What they put forth on consoles is embarrassing.
Man people would have been pissed if only PC could play and everyone else waited.The real answer is they either release them all or delay them all. Im glad they launched.

PS5 apparently brings the FPS up to 60, from 15-25 on PS4. But beyond that you are playing the PS4 version which seems to have many issues outside of frame rate.

Maybe it’s the Nintendo fanboy in me but I appreciate a company that releases a finish product. I can imagine it would be a disaster if they said “we can’t get the game to a playable state on the original consoles. We will focus on pc/ps5/xb1x for the time being and in a year we’l release for older consoles” so it is what it is. I’m glad the people who busted their ass to get a 3080/90 can enjoy it to the fullest-ish
