If you need a rifle that you KNOW you’ll want magnification on, it’s basically impossible to beat an LPVO. Experienced shooters have proven that if you’re willing to put the time in, you can absolutely be just as fast with an LPVO at 1X as you can a dot. And on the magnification side, you’re going to run circles around the dot/magnifier setup due to better FOV and WAY better glass clarity. Not to mention reticles that are much, much better suited to shooting those distances.

If you REALLY think you need something else for 1X shooting, throw an RMR or something on an offset mount.
This is true

The 1X+magnifier does prioritize the 1X, but really it's kind of more that it demotes the magnification quite a bit vs a good clear LPVO

Edit: Also lmfao at assuming you have a clue about what training and classes I have or haven’t done.

I got called “pops” the other day in a thread. As if that was supposed to bother me. I read it as I was holding my grandson. The kids will need to do better than that.

Haha. I admit, I died a little inside the first time somebody referred to me as "sir", but I'm used to it now.

Bill drill 1v1 me irl bro!

The fact the LPVO doesn’t have unlimited eye relief at 1x means it’s inferior to a dot at 1x.

Not up for discussion

And honestly my rifle with an Eotech 5x magnifier is just as capable as a 1-6 LPVO. Glass isn’t as nice but it’s quite capable, believe me

The fact that the dot has inferior glass quality and brightness to the LPVO and lacks an etched reticle for the Chyna EMP makes it inferior

See how that works

I love how you take literally like the single advantage of a dot over an LPVO and pretend that the massive list of LPVO advantages over a dot just don't exist.

You can lie to yourself all you want - but it just isn't lmao.

LPVO is going to **** on your magnifier in terms of clarity, FOV, and equally as important - a superior reticle for shooting 300+ yards.

Depends on budget. Vortex Viper PST Gen II 1-6 is a VERY hard optic to beat for sub $1,000. You can pretty regularly find them for like $600 and sometimes even a bit less.

Literally even the guys at Vortex who design the optics say that the Viper is 90% of the optic that the Razor is…and it's less than half the price.

My one and only complaint with my Viper is it's heavy compared to some of the other offerings - but it's also built like a fking tank.

If you have a higher budget, check out a Vortex Razor or EOTech VUDU…or Sig also has some nice offerings in their higher end Tango line…if you have **** you money, check out a Nightforce ATACR.

BTW - I'd recommend you see how fast you can actually be with the LPVO at 1X before bothering with a dot at 12:00 or on an offset mount. (Offset mount is superior to 12:00 BTW.) I think you'd be surprised at how fast it can be.

You think the glass on a dot is brighter and clearer than an LPVO? What piece of fukking sht LPVO you have that image is darker than an RDS?

Yes I was clearly referring to what you see through the optic, through the glass, not the electronic dot brightness. If you're going to shoot directly at the sun or at the reflection of your 2k lumen WML at a white wall you don't want a brighter dot anyway, you want an etched reticle.

The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8X24 GEN 2 has good reviews. It looks like 1x is really good, probably the best at the price of about $499. Might be able to find them for less.

The point is I’m not prioritizing 300+ yard shooting on a do it all AR. I used a dot+ magnifier out to 600 it’s capable if you train.

Do NOT buy a Strike Eagle LPVO. The clarity is 100% A S S!

The Strike Eagle Gen 2 5-25 is a different story. Clarity and features are phenomenal for the price. But the Strike Eagle LPVO's are dogchit.

A "do it all" AR should perform well beyond 300 yards - in which case an LPVO will shine…

…and even though you can't admit it, it's just as good as a dot inside of 25 too lol.

The only reason I even still own any AR's with dots instead of having an LPVO on every single one comes down to one thing: weight. Some rifles it's nice to not have 30+ ounces of optic and mount sitting on top of it.

They are bricks huh.

I have a LPVO equipped AR (Trijicon) and it’s decent but a handy 14.5 with an Aimpoint is GOAT

Many people argue an AR effective range is really more like 300 yards. Anything beyond that I’d rather have .308 or better. Of course you can get hits easily beyond 300, but effective ?! It’s up for debate.

The gen 2 is supposed to have much better clarity than the gen 1 which was trash.
