Before you got married I would have said go all in with the 24 1.4G and call it a day. Maybe the Nikon 20 1.8G is worth looking at for $800. More plastic than I'd like but could get the job done. Take your D750 down to a camera shop and shoot a few test frames before making a decision.
With static subjects where you want that medium format look with shallow DOF and a wider FOV, something you'll never get from any of those wide angles which will generally have busy looking bokeh, you can always have a crack at a bokeh panos (aka Brenizer method) after you've already grabbed a few shots with your wide angle. I've dabbled with it using my 85 1.4 on a pano head which eliminates parallax so it's very consistent. Stitching with free Microsoft ICE worked better than pano software I paid a lot of money for.

24 1.4G
d850
and 2 more Xplor flashes.
Gotta keep those tax write offs at bay
Since all the toys are being paid for by my photography, being married isn't really affecting buying capability. I just make a point of buying stuff outright once the $$ is made.
I had a really fun time using Brenizer method for the fantasy engagement shoot I did last year. at 200mm, it created some hell of a cool bokeh, and PS stitching saved the rest of the time. It was fantastic.

Here is a pic I took that originally had a whole ton of splotches on my dome port which nearly ruined the picture. I remember trying to fix it 4 or 5 years ago with content aware but it was hard! Now, with the most current PS I just did it in less than 5 minutes - each time it came out pretty well on the first go at any particular area.

My D500 aperture lever was not catching the lever on the lens and was giving Err when stopped down so I had it repaired… got it used so no warranty… after searching online a lot of people said they use Authorized Photo Service out of Chicago area for non warranty work. On the Nikon website they have the D500 listed as only able to be repaired by Nikon but APS took it. $387 to replace a bunch of parts and a full cleaning - have not got it back yet though. Just fyi there are other options besides Nikon as I have heard ppl having difficulty with Nikon service in NY.

checkin in brahs. Picked up the Nikon D3400 a week or so ago. First serious camera I've had. Looking forward to learning the ropes of basic DSLR photography. Any good books / websites / training materials for beginners much appreciated (didn't see any in OP). Here is a pic from the park near me

Looking to get my first camera. I'm planning on the Nikon D3400. B&H has this deal going:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...mera_with.html
I can afford it, but with XMas around the corner I'm hesitant to drop this much coin on just myself. Is this deal so amazing I should lock it in now or is something like this a common bundle sale price?

Union Strong. Workers are stronger together.
The GOP is a criminal organization who despises the middle class and working poor. Name one policy they have pushed for that increased worker pay, union strength, or worker influence in a corporation.

Is it worth saving up and just going from half-frame to full-frame?
or should i just stay with half-frame cameras and just upgrade lenses? atm I have a 50 mm 1.4 prime lense that I use most of the time. (mostly shoot portraits and cities/landscapes)

Since landscape and portrait photography are on opposite sides of the scale, you'd need either two setups to specialize, or one that provides a compromise somewhere down the middle.

Interesting point of discussion:

And pretty much the reason I stopped shooting models. Too many creeps in the industry in general, staved off the good models, put a ton of tension in the field.

Everyone thinks they're a photographer these days so buy a camera, put it on a tripod, and pose away. Problem solved.

I feel sorry for photographers coming into the industry with high hopes these days. Unless you are doing something very specific then no matter how good you are your work probably won't be valued.
I took a job once to cover a large cycling event. Had an assistant with a car and we'd drive ahead to shoot them from the side of the road as they came around the corner along with some shots driving alongside them and of course crossing the line. Also photographed all the riders after the event in their riding gear but used pro lighting and retouched every image so they wouldn't look out of place on the cover of a magazine.
They booked me again the next year before canceling. "We're really sorry but we've got a new boss and she said she's going to take photos with her iPhone."

Yeah sure anybody that can take a picture can be called a photographer, but not everyone qualifies as a professional. I mean just look at the sheer number of photos out there. There must be millions…hundreds of millions. But only an infinitesimal percent of those ever amount to anything near artistic.
There's no arguing that any snapshot can bring back memories, but what iphone user can create emotion from nothing? Can you think of a time when a group of relatives were looking over old family images and remarked at the impact of the emotion due to lighting, colors, contrast or composition? Not often, I would think.
Those are the things that only a true photographer would make an effort to achieve; and achieving that goal goes far beyond just the instrument being used, no matter how advanced.
To that end, its up to us to prove ourselves and maintain the gap, even though we may have to work much harder to do so. That becomes even more true, if we want our profession to survive.
