But I can't tell you how excited I am for the start of training camp this season. Hyped as fuk to see the competitions this camp and of course it will be the first time we'll see(hopefully) Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster out there together.

Hopefully Foster's shoulder is good to go with no restrictions and he stays healthy.

Same for Solomon. If he stays healthy his whole career I honestly think he'll be a dominant player for us for a long time. I simply don't see a way outside of injury that this kid will fail. He's too talented, too hard working and too down to earth to fail.

While it doesn't automatically make him a HOF player by doing this…he's definitely going the extra mile trying to prepare himself for a successful NFL career by training with Ware, Sapp and attending Von Miller's pass rush camp.

Hopefully his drive, work ethic and non thug nature rubs off on the rest of the team, especially Reuben Foster and they end up being a better version of Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks with more SB rings
I like that he seems interested in getting better before camp even begins. I'm curious why Vonn chose Stanford to hold his camp? He went to Texas and plays in Denver.

I read he was renting a place up there…kind of odd but it works out for us.

Just a few more weeks til TC. I'm so pumped to see our rookies out there.

Another nice article about Sally's game.

Man I hope he and Reuben, well and all of our guys stay healthy. They both have a chance to be special.

Training camp is roughly a week away. I'm ready for year 1 of the rebuild and since TC is right around the corner I thought it would be cool to talk about position group battles.

I would start off with QB but there isn't no battle and really no one that interesting to talk about IMO. LOL sorry guys but it is what it is.

I think the RB position is interesting and up for grabs.

Hyde should be the clear cut favorite but his injury history is quite concerning. The new regime brought in a vet (Hightower) in free agency, traded for another fringe player (Bipps) and also drafted a RB which seems to tell you that either Hyde has to prove himself or he is on his way out. I don't think Hightower is a lock to make the team especially if two or three younger guys excel. Dont count out Matt Breida neither.

My prediction is Hydge, Hightower, and Williams making the team while Brieda goes to the practice squad.

This is how I am seeing it right now too. Then again we also have a stud fullback, so do we really keep 3 rb's plus an FB? If they decide to only keep 3 I think Hyde and Williams make the team. As far as Hyde I would like to think he hasn't had much help with the oline play the last few years. Most of his yards are after contact and I think behind the LOS. If the oline play is improved he should be able to do just as much without getting so beat up. At least I would like to think so….

i would not be surprised if we kept 5 RBs. Juice, Hyde, and Williams are locks, but…Hyde's injury history is a concern.

I think KS will also want a veteran presence on the squad so we keep Hightower.

I think that last spot will be up to Bibbs and Breida. They are similar scat-back, ST, speedy guys. Would be good to have one of them, but not both IMO. Who ever shows up in TC and Preseason will win that 5th spot. I think we'll be a very run heavy offense this year. Gotta be able to run the ball to sell play action. Its going to take more than 1 TC to get everyone from the OL to get the running game/PA working right.

I just don't want another Chris Ponder situation where we risk losing a talented young player just because we want to keep a vet who may not have much future on the team.

Excited to see the battles. Best man wins the job.

Yeah me neither and I'm hoping someone pushed Hightower off the roster especially given we are in a full blown rebuild.

Lets talk WRs.

Currently scheduled to attend camp:
Bolden Jr., Victor
Bourne, Kendrick
Burbridge, Aaron
Carter, DeAndre
Ellington, Bruce
Garçon, Pierre
Goodwin, Marquise
Johnson, BJ
Kerley, Jeremy
Robinson, Aldrick
Ross, Rashad
Smelter, DeAndre
Taylor, Trent

The only thing we know about this group is Garcon will be the #1 WR going into camp. The new regime did a complete makeover of the WR group and the only WR that could be on the team that was on the team last year is Kerley. Thats quite remarkable AND who would have thought when we signed Kerley last year he'd position himself like this. So IMO you have Garcon, Kerley, Goodwin, Robinson, and Talyor that are dang near locks to make the team. That leaves last years leftovers of Ellington, Burbridge, and Smelter on the outside looking in along with longshots Carter, Bolden, Bourne, Ross and Johnson.

Do we keep 5 or 6? I'm not convinced Aldrick Robinson will make the team but he is familiar with the system and has a big advantage on the others. Personally i'm pulling for Smelter because of his size but i realize he probably wont be making it on the roster. It'll be interesting to see if one of the other guys steps up and takes a spot amoung the 5 i listed or convinces the coaches to keep 6.

Im with you on:
Garcon, Kerley, Goodwin, Robinson and Taylor.

i'm hoping we can stash guys like Johnson and Bolden on the PS.

WR is such a tough position to develop, I was hoping we'd draft a guy this yr with some #1 potential. Sadly, i don't see that guy on our roster right now. i'm hopeful someone can surprise, but thats every yr.

I think we keep 5 WR, a few on PS. I'm sure we'll be throwing to our RBs often too. This is another reason i see us being very run heavy this yr.

Is this the year AZ officially drives off the cliff? Or can the old guys and Mr. Kangol put it together to make one more playoff run?

I say no because Palmer could be done. Arians doesn't seem to have the same pull with the players. But they do have DJ on offense who could make up for a bad Palmer. Plus a wealth of young playmakers on defense.

I think WR will come next year.

I think Ariz could still put up a decent fight with Seattle this year unless Palmer sucks which is 50/50 chance at this point.

One of the craziest position battles we'll have IMO. As you said outside of Garçon it's a lot of unknowns.

Hate to say it but my guy Ellington is a goner, just couldn't stay healthy. Plus there are a ton of slot WR guys competing for snaps.

Imo these guys will be safe and others will battle it out.
Garçon
Kerley
Taylor

I do think we keep 6. One of the young guys will hopefully slide to PS.

Christian Kirk is a name to watch, especially if we sign Cousins. Not a large receiver but OBJ like.

Arizona is tough to predict. Can't trust them after last year but Arians is a good coach.

I am just happy we are getting some actual football. Lots to see going into camp. Lots of questions on certain position groups and who makes the team.

Very possible.

Speaking of glass…Jimmie Ward placed on PUP after injuring his hammy in the conditioning test yesterday. Dude needs to stay healthy for fuks sakes.

Also Solomon Thomas signed. Thought he'd be out there for start of practice but he's going to be about an hour late.

Hamstring issues are usually from lack of preparedness. He's tight because he hasn't been actively working on his muscle flexibility or educating himself on diet/hydration.

Either way, he's been in the league too long to be having stupid fukking injuries like this.

100% agree. a little disappointed about that. fukk pulling a hammy during a conditioning test…these guys should be showing up with good conditioning.

Yeah not good though thankfully those injuries shouldn't be serious. Jimmie Gilbert out for the year with torn ACL though. I thought he had a chance to make the roster but we do seem to be somewhat deep at DL/LB(crazy to think that after last year)

Hopefully Ward and Reid get healthy and get out there. Especially the FS position is so key to this defense that he needs to be out there. Sounds like outside of Robinson our corners are having a tough time but hard to tell when the QBs can throw the ball without fear of getting buried.

That is what I am thinking too. Even if the QB gets touched they still get to through the ball right now in practice. That will change during a game.

Injuries suck but like you said they do not seem bad, just a little banged up.

with all these injuries to our safeties, we might as well stick Foster back there. put the best 11 on the field. lol.

if he can consistently make plays like he did in college, it would be nice to see a guy like Jerome show that its not always about the combine numbers and make the 53.

He sure does have an opportunity to show the coaches if he has what it takes. Most guys never get that chance.
