It will hopefully entice hedge funds to think twice before over leveraging to short in the future. Some shorting is healthy in the market imo, but what they did and continue to do with the shorting and just the manipulation alone I would think would piss people off and make people want to hold them accountable. How greedy do they have to be to continue to double down? They have even done this to stocks like TTCF that have already sold off and they already made a killing shorting, did they really think it would go to a $1? because by their shorting it sure seems like that was their end game with their greed. AMC and GME are just the blatant examples people are focusing on.
There's substantial undeniable evidence of fraudulent activity on their part, the game isn't set up fair for retail investors/traders. Which is fine with me, but this time they took on the risk and should have to pay the price.
Securities act of 1933 only allows "accreddited investors" with a minimum of $1 million in assets to invest with them. So average retail investors can't even utilize hedge funds, not really fair either.
So for me it's not silly, I'm still working my other jobs everyday as well. Just seemed like a good opportunity for a good return and for a good cause at the same time.
Isn't the minute transfer of wealth (in the event of squeezes) long term healthy for the market?
They should get called on their chit. If it were any of us we would have been margin called already on a lot of these, in addition we wouldn't have all the levers to be able to pull. Also, naked shorting is ILLEGAL and the evidence is there showing it is occurring.
They need to go short a stock that makes sense, like Tesla lmao. (although I really want tesla to hit $1000 first pls)

Is the short interest float on GME only like 20%? I'm debating selling at $300

Anyone have a good link for cliffs on the AMC thing? Thinking about gambling some money in but haven't been following it really.
It's pretty much guaranteed to jump at some level right since the shorts have to cover? So it'll be about when you get out?

So if you're looking to transfer wealth from hedge funds, you're likely hurting the managers but are mostly hoping to transfer it from other "retail" investors who don't actively manage their own investments
The whole thing is a waste of energy IMO

It's really not about that. They can do whatever they want with their money regardless of whose it is.
It's more about the blatant illegal actions on their part with impunity thus far, which is enough to have made me want to see them answer for a lot of the things they have done behind the scenes.
Stock market police<<<<< I know lol.
No, I just see an opportunity with more upside overall than downside, financially and morally.
Also being up 40k on 2 companies that were supposed to go bankrupt due to shorting would probably have you saying it was energy well expended.

Shorting does not make companies go bankrupt, a failing business model makes companies go bankrupt. And companies with failing business models should go bankrupt, that's how capitalism is designed to work.
Making money off this doesn't preclude it being a waste of energy, I'm saying it's a waste because nothing of value is created.

I'll admit with chit coins I was ONLY in to make a quick buck on things like dogecoin.
To be fair I do believe a good chunk of the holders believe in the moral component and it is a factor for them deciding to hold a position in AMC. Of course the majority want to acquire wealth quickly and that's the only reason they are in, who doesn't want wealth quickly. It's a combination of factors for me and the level of risk vs return for me.
At the least is exposing illegal activity not valuable in your opinion?

Whole stock market / crypto / real estate is built on speculation. Going back thousands of years.
You're posts come off like bit of jealousy.
What if everyone was buying oil stocks? Would that be better.
Let people do what they want to. If they lose money so be it. Glad its not me but you type of deal.
Hedge fund managers are the 1% that don't give a chiit about you / where you work or what your employer does if there is chance to drive you to ground or make profits they will do it.

I capitulated a low six figure account last year and scrapped together a grand to start over. I got it up to $4k with amc calls in jan but because of the fukery coulent sell. It was $3k at one point. Now I had a third of it in three GME shares and sold for a $200 profit. My account is almost $2k.
It’s sad and am currently unemployed/looking for a job. I got my Masters in medical science in December 2020 and have no idea where to find work. I’m even applying to sell cars since it’s been a month or two since I applied to medical device sales jobs.

And yes Venom GME short interest is 20%.
This move today seems like related to the NFT site that GME went up yesterday.

Yeah, the fact that it’s only 20% tells me that the move to $1000 or whatever targets I’ve heard won’t happen. I’m simply selling into the strength, it doesn’t mean it won’t touch $350 by Friday. I lost confidence when DFV said he’d stop making updates. It tells me he was preparing to sell out and didn’t want to cause a selling frenzy during those times.

GME is doing things that haven't happened before.
That chart above should tell you that who got burned January shorting it got out or reduced significantly. Number is still high but no where to the level it was 3 months ago.
