nice to hear that a lot of players are buying in. Seems there were a few players that had weight goals to hit prior to camp.

Good news that Trent Brown and Aaron Lynch hit their goals. I hope this is a step in the right direction for both of them and hoping we can lock both guys up long term. I can srsly see Trent being our LT of the future if he keeps this up.

i'm trying to temper my optimism, but i'm really excited about the talent/the potential we have.

Sorry guys but Ellington is on his way out… I know some of you are sad.

https://www.ninersnation.com/2017/8/...rs-depth-chart

Sadly he could not keep healthy. I would not keep him around because of that either. I would of loved to have seen him play one full season where he stayed healthy and actually played alot.

Poor genus

Had a feeling he was the one getting cut when they brought in those other 2 WRs. He should get another shot and hopefully stay healthy

I knew it was coming. He could just never stay healthy and you can't do much if you're not on the field.

I think he'd be a perfect fit for the Pats but they're stacked right now with midget slot guys. I'm sure he'll find a home somewhere but you could tell he was behind the 8 ball. I'd actually rather see him get cut now then see him working with 4th/5th stringers

im sure it was a veteran courtesy to cut him early so he could try to catch on with another team.

i really liked his potential, but he couldnt stay healthy. The resigning of Kerley and drafting of Taylor was the writing on the wall.

Definitely sucks…but hopefully that's the worst of the injuries for us.

Need Foster to step up and someone else to step up at guard while Garnett is out.

Crazy…but may be lucky for him long term. Jets are a death trap for any WR these days. He can get healthy and hope a team with a legit QB has some injuries and needs a WR.

Not mad at seeing Ellington go, seems to have potential but never ever healthy.

More concerned about the Garnett and Smith injuries. Smith is needed for depth for sure and was probably going to start, only good news is Foster and Ray Ray are pretty nice to have but they have to stay healthy too. Even Bow for that matter.

Garnett I don't like at all because he still needs work and now is the time to be getting that work in camp and preseason. Wouldn't be surprised if Garnett doesn't play at all this year cause Beadles if healthy is probably just as good if not better. Hoping Garnett doesn't turn into another wasted pick but he was Baalke's pick and lots of those never panned out.

Definitely getting more excited to see this team as real football gets closer. Still a lot to look for in finishing camp and preseason and let's hope we can have a decent year.

I hate hearing about injuries. Hopefully Garnett's isn't that bad and can get healthy soon. Really sucks about Smith's injury. We paid a lot for him and now he is out for the year. Would have been really nice to have his experience with the defense on the field. That now leaves Bowman, Foster, and probably Ray Ray. HOnestly that still isn't that bad. Ray Ray looks pretty good last year, and if Bowman stays healthy he should be good.

49ers Sign LB Austin Calitro, Place LB Malcolm Smith on IR

Do not know anything about this guy other than the Jets (I htink?) signed him undrafted and it looks no like he came to us.

Just released is the dpeth chart for this weekends preseason game. I haven't really looked that hard at it yet. Surprised at the TE spots. McDonald and kittle are listed a the 1/2's. Looks like Bell and Celek could be on their way out. Then we got Donte Johnson and Richard Robinson and the start CB's. I am excited for that one. I always like Johnson. Hopefully he puts it together. The other thing that will be interesting is how the receivers play out. Do we keep 6 and who will they be?

Scary moment at practice today with Donavin Newsom getting KO'd where paramedics had to be called in and practice was ended short. Glad to hear he had feeling in his extremities though. I always feel awful as a human kind of having relief that an injury doesn't happen to one of the starters or guys who are sure bets to make the roster but these injuries are almost even more tragic for guys with a long shot to make the roster because they don't have big guaranteed money and this is likely their last shot.

Hopefully it's just a concussion when it's all said and done and he'll be ok in a few days but scary stuff when neck/head is concerned.

In regards to other news I have a feeling we may try to trade Tank Carradine or Aaron Lynch before the season starts, more likely Tank. He's been playing with the ones over Solomon Thomas though Thomas has played well on his own and is playing catchup from missing camp. I think all the money and talent we have on the DL after drafting Thomas this season even if Tank was to have a breakout season I don't see a way we re-sign him. It would be just too much money invested in the same unit and although we have a ton to spend it doesn't make good business sense.

Which is why I'm hoping Tank shows up well in preseason and we can get a 2nd/3rd round pick for him. Granted a 2nd rounder is very unlikely but some contender may feel he's worth it. His contract isn't too bad and if they think he can help this year and potentially later on they can franchise him.

Same possibility with Aaron Lynch who has a little more on tape over Tank.

I could see a 2 nd or 3rd for Lynch. He has shown he can produce if he is in shape and focused. Tank just needs to put it together which he hasn't really done and like you said a strong preseason could help us if they got rid him. Then again we are pretty stacked in the DL. We could afford to trade someone.

I don't think its realistic to get a 2nd or 3rd for Lynch or Carradine. Maybe a forth at most. We do need to try and trade one of them though.

Eric Branch @Eric_Branch
#49ers have released C Jeremy Zuttah, who was acquired in a trade with #Ravens in off-season.

Well that didn't go as planned

Bummer I loved the trade at the time. Makes me nervous for our interior OL.

I think next offseason we have to go hard at OL, WR and CB.

from previous reports, it sounds like Kilgore's got C on lock and the other guy from the Rams was getting 2nd team reps. No point in keeping an old, 3rd string C.

Our interior scares me…Hoyer better stay healthy.

Sounds like Kilgore has actually been playing well. With Garnett being out I guess it will likely be Beadles, Kilgore and Barnes/Fusco.

Not exactly something to get excited about. I would imagine they sign another C/G soon.

I think we signed another lb to fill this new spot? I was having hopes the oline would be better but with Garnett out and now zuttah

I'm excited for the season because I think SF is going to surprise a lot of people. So I haven't really kept up with too much 49ers news, but who do you guys see being the qb of the future for the team. Are they all in for Cousins or do you think the team could be aiming for somebody as far fetched as Jimmy G?

I'm sure their first choice is Kirk Cousins due to the familiarity between Kyle Shanahan and him. However if Jimmy G is a legit free agent then he's certainly in play. Shanahan liked Garappolo coming out in the draft and reports were he had him rated as the 2nd best QB behind Carr in that class.

Cool. Thanks for the reply. Personally, I really think Jimmy G would be the ideal choice going forward. So if he's in play, SF should do everything they can to get him. It would probably bring an excitement to the fanbase that this franchise hasn't seen in a while. Cousins is a solid choice, but dam, Jimmy G would be something else.
