Hey, go read the whole thread lol if you're genuinely curious I answer pretty much every question asked, just went to bed around late page 6.

Sorry it's not all neatly packages in the very first post at the top of the page but to understand the thread you have to go through all 6 pages and tons of things are answered and you'll get why I made it.

For the rest of the questions, I'll get to them soon, just working.

8 pages and you're one of two people in this thread with an issue or acting like a kid. I actually showed pictures, again, look back, it's all been done.

I also specified what specific software industry I'm in pages ago, it's all been answered. Read.

Anyway, 7+ pages of great posts and replies thanks guys, I'll answer more soon.

This guy is basically spoon feeding you ways on how to improve yourselves, and you're actually going to doubt him and disregard his advice.....?
Because it's easier to just claim that it's all based on 'luck' and 'networking' and that you'll never be in the same position?
With that kind of attitude it's no wonder that LDAR has become the new misc motto.

The main problem I'm seeing in this current generation is that people are afraid of working for something. They just expect to party and travel, until their dream life and career just fall into their ****ing lap. Harsh reality is that it'll never ****ing happen unless you take the steps necessary to make it happen.

Apply yourselves, soak in information from people like OP, and stop wasting time doing trivial **** that doesn't help accelerate your path to success.
Its pissening, its revolting.

So many people are taking the good from this thread but 1 or 2 ruin it by seeing the negative in everything. OP has no need to spoon feed them everything but he is still giving great advice. If it even inspires one lazy ass on the misc to make it then the thread is a success

i really do like the confidence that making good money, but more importantly being successful brings. when people ask me what i do, im still bashful when i tell them and their reactions are always the same and it makes you feel good. but i know i can go further.

first sales job was in timeshare when i was 17. i remember making my first "monster deal". tough industry but going through the grinder like timeshare while being successful and you can sell almost anything. i will continue my climb, and i enjoyed reading your thread.

OP playing into the capitalistic zionist pig mission and placing material needs and pleasure above spirituality as the virtues for "making it". You're an empty man using material to fill the void, your gf is probably a whore who will cheat on you with a better looking poorer guy

How dare those zionist pigs trick me into thinking providing for my future kids and family and enjoying a nice car or two along the way is a good thing!

I've been converted. Thanks for saving me. Having an enjoyable career totally eliminated the possibility for me to be spiritual, I'm glad you opened my eyes. God knows that if your paychecks are at a certain level he doesn't love you anymore and you can't believe in god. You are wise beyond your years.

Edit: it always surprises me how much Hollywood impacts your vision of things. In the Hollywood movie I guess this is the part where you surround yourself with coke and hookers and lead an empty life? Contrary to movies (not even that I'm nearly as well off as those in movies) you can lead a spiritual life and still enjoy some nice things along the way. Again, primary goal is to provide for family.

Great thread OP, motivates myself to never give up.

I too come from a poor family, I work a part time job to pay for my education upfront so its really tough saving right now. But I kinda have poker/aliexpress cash to save up some money, disregarding my part time job, so what would you suggest I invest it in? I can probably save 300 USD a month.

I'm an Aus brah and im 18 so any further tips you got? Mirin' and will definately search up that other forum you linked before about investing. Serious, I dont want to be the person who graduates uni, works 9-5 for the rest of their life when there are limitless opportunities all around the world.

Quick question- If you were 18 again, what would you do differently? Or what would you tell yourself back then is the best thing to do?

Right now I'm loving this marketing degree im doing at Uni, kinda pre occupied with friends and my part-time job, but next year I'm seriously considering entering into sales. Where is the best place to start from? I was thinking of finding an internship of some sorts in an white-collar job to get some experience working professionally, but I'm more inclined to gravitate towards sales because that is were the money is apparently lol and I'd love to work from home as opposed to slaving away at some company which will only use me.

sup brah, i'm going to make a gamble myself and try to make it without college (Srs). i have the ability to learn and enjoy pretty much anything, 1 year ago i said fuk it and started learning piano, now i practice 3 hours daily and my goal is to play Liszt in 1-2 years. 1 month ago i said fuk it I want to learn programming, googled c++ book and I'm now pretty adept at it midway through OOP.

question is, how does one make it with 0 experience other than deadend jobs? my resume would literally be empty. My goal is to learn code hardcore for 6 months and try to get into the field of developing/software. I'm not sure how much it pertains to you as you're a sales brah, but shed some light on how to get interviews/opportunities if you're just an aspiring brah with no experience?

And i'm assuming it'd be different for brahs outside the US. I'm from Israel and the biggest industry here is software, there are so many engineers and developers here and many companies set up shop in here. it's another thing that i'm scared of is that while there's high demand there is also a large supply of quality people with college education, with 3 years of experience coding in the army(mandatory service, usually you can get a good job straight out of the army. my service was largely pointless and no experience value), which ultimately leads to companies having the ability to cherry pick anyone they want from a large pool of candidates

and from my measly experience the mentoring thing is true. like i said i wanted to learn programming, and just started bombarding my programming friends with questions to the point where i felt bad i was wasting so much of their time, but they always were glad to help and went out of their way to make me understand.

Do you also think you can leverage programming knowledge into other fields that are somewhat related/not at all related with more money?

See this is what I'm afraid of.. I'd completely hate to be the cause of someone dropping out of school to try to make it without college. I'm not advocating for that.. While college is expensive and doesn't really do as much as we hope, it's still very important. If you're in a position to attend school at a younger age, I'd say go for it. If you really like stories like mine.. maybe pursue some sort of software/technical degree that you could leverage in multiple career paths. Program management. Operations. Learning software language. Sales. Etc.

My main intention is to let you know that if you're not lucky enough to be able to attend school.. that means absolutely nothing and you can still crush it with somesmart(not hard) work.

For anyone reading this, guys, I hope you read every post of mine through about page 6. The first post is not the important one. The reason this thread got big is the advice or input from pages 1-6. The first post won't do anything for you. I'd say read it all, won't take long and I post some things that I'd consider valuable to at lease a few people here.

Can you go any more in depth about exactly what you sell though? Like you said, software sales is a huge ass market in its own right but what does it actually mean for you?

I appreciate it if you don't want to spill everything out on a public forum.
Thank you. Yeah, I'm a bit intentionally vague just because it's a public forum. I also know there are many jobs out there that can get you in the 150k+ range for MANY industries within the huge "software" umbrella. I don't know them all, but they absolutely exist. Around page 3 or 4 I explain how my specific niche is in banking software.

Very true. I said this on page 5 or so, it's not a guaranteed thing, you'll need some doors to be open, I personally was extremely lucky to get in at the age I did, but for any dedicated, ambitious person out there, I'd say you can put yourself in a position where you have a 75% or better chance to get in by your early 30s or younger. Again, my advice on how to do so is throughout page 1-6, not in the first posts.

I don't cold call and there's less "selling" than you'd think at higher level big sales. It's relationship building, and having knowledge of your industry that makes up 80% of what you need. 10% is your dedication to follow up on your work/call people back/schedule presentations and own your own schedule and business. 10% is the mental ability to highlight your advantages and plant land mines for your competitions short comines, aka sales.

Very different from quick sale jobs where it's 90% sales ability and the sale is over in a few minutes or hours/days.

I guess my answer to another guy above answers most of that. Random thought, as you grow older your social skills will naturally grow and I'd say this applies to most as long as you put yourself out there. You have to understand technology, but the fact that I'm telling you this on an online forum tells me you're ahead of the curve already. Around page 2-5 I talk about the attitude you need to have and keep in this industry... or really any industry that requires a suit and tie.

Hmmm. I don't think you read the thread. Most higher end sales positions will give you a fat salary. Mine and many of my colleagues base salaries are either 100, very close to it, or slightly above. That's a bit higher than average for "software" type jobs but you should very much expect a salary of 65-75+ in a respectable sales position. Your on target income is generally double your base or more.

There's no way I'm making under 150k even if I worked 10 hours a week from home (and yes, I could do that and boss wouldn't find out) but again people who aren't ambitious enough won't make it here anyway.

1) How did you get better with women? I literally had to stop visiting the misc about 6 months ago due to myself buying into the pessimistic views thrown around about being a short guy (5'8ish)/facial aesthetics/every girl will cheat on you mentality.

2) If you could gift one book to someone, what would it be?

3) What does your morning routine look like?
1) every girl won't cheat on you. Don't believe this lol. Do girls flirt these days? Yeah, it happens. Women don't actually cheat all that much though despite what misc says. At least once your our of your early 20s and late teens. If you're a teen.. yeah good luck ha. You should learn to read women and spot red flags. Also.. pro tip, don't go through your GFs messages or spy on her. Just don't.

As far as how to be better with women... I think the key for men is confidence. Your next question should be well wtf does that even mean? My answer, it's a catch 22. Women bring confidence and confidence brings women. There's only one way to gain confidence without being good with women and that's make yourself a better person. Mostly, focus on your career. Don't be emotional/post too many opinions on ********. Post like a politician would, happy and optimistic. Play sports on rec teams, get hobbys, be a good guy all around as much as you can and you'll naturally gain confidence and women will come. You'll start the cycle.. the rest follows.

2) I honestly couldn't tell you. I'd say advice and learning from forums is underrated.

3) Lol, looks like whatever I want it to look like. Wake up when I want, throw some sweats on. Make breakfast, watch a good TV show while I eat, check ********, then walk into my other bedroom at some point aka my office, and open things and see what my day looks like.

Again, the key is not ultra hard work.. the key is small, easier, smart steps, continued and repeated until you get where you want. Market yourself, build LinkedIn, network, research a bit every week and you'll get there. You don't need to be the 6am 3 cups of coffee guy. You can be the relaxed, hang out with friends, drink on the weekends, video games and relationship guy while casually advancing your goal a bit each week with the steps/ideas I mentioned in earlier pages. It's continuing to do so that's the trick. It's perseverance.

Thanks man! Good work and keep it up.

Marketing is a whole lot of fun and really interesting. I love it. You essentially are using human behavior/psychology to increase your companies awareness or penetration into their market. It's actually essentially sales. Earlier in this thread I answer investing questions, again guys, read the whole thread before posting. I also link to another thread with some good advice in it.

so much truth in this post, a lot of people struggling to make it haven't internalized this. don't work 80 hectic hours a week, multi-tasking and discracted, when you put in 30-40hrs and dedicate yourself to honing your craft.

I don't even think of my job in software as "work" or a "job", certainly not a grind either. I think of it as I am getting paid to learn about a fascinating industry. I get paid to come in and build my skills that people go to school and pay thousands of dollars to learn. I get paid to learn what I need to eventually start my own business.

If you brahs can approach your day to day with this mindset, life is 1000x better srs.

PM me, let's connect on LinkedIn. Feel free to share your day to day life, how much your boss looks over your shoulder, where you work, total, comp, etc. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this thread who would appreciate input from another software related position.

OP, awesome thread. Don't have time to read through all of it right now, so I apologize if it was asked before.

What self-learned skills/accreditations would you recommend pursuing to get a job in software like you asked, aka what should I pursue that I can write down on a resume as proof of skill? Also, as far as finding the job, was it you searching/sending resumes, meeting people, or finding the job through someone mentioning it?

I was lucky enough to be pulled into it. Before I got into it, I would have never thought it exists or knew about it. Banking software.. who thinks of that?

But now that I'm aware of it, and other industries that exist that most don't even know about, I wanted to help you guys be aware of what's out there. I never had a thread like this telling me what to do.

Previous posts answer most of your question but as far as what to put on a resume, if you can't talk about relevant experience, highlight your ability to learn and be a dedicated person who can professionally represent your company and guide a prospective client through the sales process from start to finish.. lol just making things up. Again, networking will help a ton and I give ideas on how to do that pages back. Good luck!

Good work man. Nice motivation for us younger people.

Off topic, but, are you the dude who posted a thread maybe a year ago about some crazy bitch believing that you got her pregnant and refusing to go for DNA tests? Mind giving a quick update if so?
