I don't think the forums have been detrimental to bb.com at all.

1. Amazon kicking everyones ass in sales.
2. People are finally starting to get some knowledge about the supplement business and aren't shelling out money for useless stuff.
3. The good stuff is banned

These sorts of things draw unwanted attention. The management was trying to do damage control and went overboard.
No publicity is bad EVER, they went from recieving bad publicity to none. Bodybuilding.com is just like a million other supplement peddling websites you can find anywhere, with the misc it had something, without it not so much.

Sigh. Thanks, but it's just not the same.

A string of bad publicity that cost the company 7 million dollars in fees early on. That is bad publicity when it affects the bottom line.
Drop in the bucket, losing the community cost them hundreds of millions. There are so many ways to monetize a large community, you dont find yourself backed into a corner where you can only sell supplements like you're seeing right now.

When you ostracize 60% of your userbase don't be suprised when they dont buy your chit.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm speaking from a point of view of what management probably saw at the time. FBI agents knocking on the door will make most people nervous regardless of monetizing other aspects of the business.

Hell, Myfitnesspal sold to Under Armour I believe in order to make wearable clothing and calorie tracking and all that one big system (remains to be seen)

Bodyspace could have teamed up with a big company and turned it into a one stop shop for calorie tracking, lift tracking, etc. You see all those dudes writing in their journals for their lifts? Imagine if your clothes tracked that and then uploaded it into your bodyspace.

Oh well.

I'll miss this site through... you can't really bash BB.com, Amazon is a monopoly destroying so much in the US. Eh well... what are you gonna do, ya know?

amazon is killing everything. with their warehouses spread out across the country, you can get the same supplements cheaper and to your door faster. you really can't compete with them

more people are taking fitness and dieting srsly and with the abundance of information out there, people dont have to go to bb.com to get info. i remember +10 years ago, people went to bb.com and lifting magazines to get their info; now its readily available from countless sources. there is also less brand loyalty. back in the day, there werent much in regards to one stop shop. people bought from bb.com and stayed because of the lifting/supp information/forums were right there. there was a sense of community.... not anymore.

Bummer. I agree with many here, the stagnation exhibited by the company and the strangling of the misc was not helpful.

i'd be interested to see if bb.com has any stats on misc (or even forum) users purchasing supps through the years. not that they would share but i doubt that misc was a large % of sales

Stores like Vitamin Shoppe will match bb.com's on-line pricing. It's hard to compete with that. Bb.com was the motivation I needed to get healthy and I thank them for that.

I'm at an absolute, complete loss to why... but the people running BB.com obviously seem to think the forums have absolutely nothing to do with their sales numbers. There's been many posts in this thread mocking the idea that mods/admins here could have impacted sales. Yes, obviously they can. You have tens of thousands (maybe more?) users who log into their account here daily. If most of them are pissed at the site, how loyal do you imagine they're going to be toward the store.

There is a way to compete with Amazon. I'm a photographer and B&H probably moves more camera gear than Amazon does. They do it by not showing complete contempt for their customers.

Most people don't WANT to come back.

This place has become toxic. Posting/readings things on here literally isn't good for your mental health. It's almost like brainwashing. I have to often say to myself "Hey, these generalizations aren't true".

I post here because of the few good people left on here. I've also gained enough reps to protect myself from people who seek to silence opinions that they disagree with.

I think it can go both ways (like a bisexual lmao).

I want to see how many people purchase from bb.com accounts who are also active on the forums vs. how many purchase via guest or an account not active on the forums.

I think the misc's new reputation as being a centerhub for incel, weird generalizations, and anti-women crap really hurts the reputation of bb.com.

Back in the day, saying you would light your hair on fire used to mean something.

Nowadays, with these posters, it's nothing.

It's all the members' fault for bringing down the trustworthiness of the entire website.

If I can't trust a member to light his hair on fire when he says he's going to light his hair on fire, how can I expect bb.com to ship my gainz juice when they are supposed to ship my gainz juice?

They had/have some loyal active members here on the forums. Instead of being mean and banning people over dumb stuff they should have gave us some discounts and a few extra to hand out to friends and family.

and at that point, if i cant get my entire order from here, im just gonna go get the entire thing elsewhere, even if its at a slightly higher price.

I've placed 17 orders at BB.. the last time was 2014. Most were between 2009-2011. You can check in your website profile.
