"declining... geriatric..."

Sampras was 30, Rafter 29, and Agassi 31 when a 20 year old Hewitt reached No. 1. How old are the youthful Big 3 again?

Now let's get back to clay and how weak the competition is these days.

1993-2003 Bruguera, Moya, Costa, and JC Ferrero all won it while Berasategui and Corretja reached the final.

11 years and 6 Spanish players in RG finals.

2004-2018 One Spanish player won it 11 times and mighty David Ferrer made a final only to get pumped by the Bull.

15 years and only 2 Spaniards in the final.

Cliffs: if the competition was strong you'd see other Spanish players making RG finals instead of the one player vulturing them all.

I can't believe this overrating of Hewitt. The guy found the gap between Sampras and Agassi and capitalized on it. As soon as better players came along, he fell off a cliff. The guy only spent 277/894 weeks inside the top 10. By the time he was 25 he fell out of the top 10, never to return again. fcking lol

Signs of brain damage here.

You've never heard of injuries? And I mean real injuries and not excuses for why your favorite player lost.

Your credibility kinda goes out the window when you’re a tinfoil hat wearing CTer making up stories about Rafa and Novak, brah.

Brb Rafa has never been injured and has been purposely withdrawing out of GS SF because...

Brb Novak didn’t really have an elbow injury and surgery, he was just fuking the nanny...

You’re so mad this thread isn’t the Federer circle jerk that it was before I started posting, you can’t stand to have some reality checks every now and then, *******.

“Every time someone disagrees with me they’re trolling”.

You must be Dominik’s alt account..
We had Rafa fans in these threads long before you showed up. Novak fans too. The difference between them and you is that they were actually capable of formulating intelligent arguments instead of rants containing massive bias or name-calling. Your act was boring months ago. Now it’s just bordering on sad.

You questioning someone else’s credibility is high comedy.

Your post is nothing but your opinion, and you know what they say...they’re like *******s brah, everyone has one.

The sad thing is you can’t wait to hang by my nuts every time I post when I don’t even acknowledge the shiit you post.

Like you I'm just another dickhead on the internet with an opinion. The difference is I don't give my favorite player special treatment and I'm not as gullible as you — you buy every Rafa excuse hook, line, and sinker.

Spoiler!

...because after looking like he'd been electrocuted with that celebration he went down a set and a break like the last time at the AO there was some injury drama for him.

I didn't say he didn't have surgery. I said he milked it just like Federer did. Federer said he was "on one leg" at the opening of Rafa's academy. Then he returns and no only destroys his greatest rival 4-0 that year but wins two slams including Wimbledon without dropping a set.

As for Novak I said something was fishy about it especially in the way he brushed off McEnroe's comments comparing him to Tiger Woods. Even if the bulb is dim upstairs you should still be able to connect the dots there. Then there was the live stream incident where his wife got caught out blasting him for being rude.

Throw in the coaching merry-go-round where people were getting hired and fired every 5 minutes probably for asking "WTF is going on with you?"

So for sure I think there was a lot of turbulence behind the scenes and he used the injury to deflect attention from that.

Fed fans just projecting their bias onto other groups.

Somehow they've turned a debate on whether or not Hewitt and Roddick are overrated, to one making fun of Rafa and his fans again.

Delpo into the semis of Beijing and a potential Shapo/Nishi final in Japan if both win their semis.

Would be a nice feather in Shapo’s cap if he could win that title.

According to my buddy (the stringer) a lot of men AND women give few fuks about the Asian swing of the season. And now with Laver Cup right before it.... doesn’t surprise me that it might mean even less now to the guys. I think they’ll probably get a bit more geared up for Shanghai since it’s a Masters event but Beijing suffers from just being in a chitty part of the calendar... kind of like Paris.

Djokovic definitely does so I think he's probably regretting not playing Beijing which schedule wise only made sense if he skipped Laver Cup.

Would return to #1 by winning Beijing and Shanghai.

Sock out 1st round in Shanghai.

Current ranking: 17
Current points:1850

Subtract Paris W 1000
Subtract ATP Finals SF 400

=450

Hasn't won consecutive matches since 2017so if form holds up...

From Top 8 to out of the Top 100 in a year.

Kyrgios. Monfils, Tiafoe and Stan out as well. I feel a bit for Stan, dude just can't catch a break and keeps getting tough first round matches.

Atleast with Millman, De Minaur, and Ebden you have other aussie blokes to cheer for now.

Last year was clearly a career year for Sock. As an American, I've been following him since he was 18. He's a top 30 or 40 player at best., and he's getting to the end of his run now. I wouldn't be surprised to see him become more of a doubles specialist going forward. He's much better at doubles.

Safin criticizing the NextGen.
In a recent interview, Marat Safin criticized the Next Generation once again. The Russian was asked if the domination of legends like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer makes the game boring. 'They are strong enough, what makes you bored is the rest, because they are not at the same level,' Safin said referring to the younger players.

'At 37 years, Federer wins a lot of matches. He takes a break for half-a-year, comes back and wins again. Before that was impossible. The gap between them and the rest is very big. Now I don't see a 17-year-old who wins an ATP title. They start winning at 25 years. This is another generation. Now, taking away the four players, not even God knows the others. Before we had Ivanisevic, Sampras, Rafter, Kafelnikov, Krajicek, Rusedski, Kuerten, Costa, Corretja, Moyá, a lot of very good players, they were difficult to beat in the Grand Slams.
Notice how he didn't mention Roddick or Hewitt? fcking lol

Crawled out of your cave for more cherry picking? Safin had plenty of respect for Hewitt especially given they split their matches 7-7.

"fcking lol" that you think all those guys wouldn't be having a field day right now if they showed up in their prime. You know when a flake like Fognini is just outside the Top 10 with a career high ranking in his 30s that the tour is an absolute joke.

Hewitt owned Federer 7-2 before 2004. Federer turned it around playing at a ridiculously high level but no one is playing like that today.

Have a look at the players who have beaten Nadal on HC over the past 18 months and that's leaving out the clown show of 2015-2016 when even Fognini was beating him in slams.Querrey. Shapovalov. Kyrgios. Goffin. Cilic.None of them are anywhere near Hewitt's peak level when he was No. 1 and ditto for Roddick. "just lol" if you think he wouldn't beat Nadal today when every man and his dog has done it.

Hewitt vs. Federer. 2002. Shanghai TMC. Are we going to pretend a father of 4 at 37 is physically in better shape today than at 21?

Hewitt was a rock solid ball machine who would be doing just fine today in an era of mindless ball bashers with zero consistency. At least back then he had to confront talent.

Serious question, why do you think this new generation sucks so much vs previous ones? Is it because tennis isn't as popular? I would have thought it'd be more popular, at least globally, as it seems to have declined in the states (for men at least).

Entitlement and satisfaction just being on the tour living a pro tennis player’s lifestyle.... this has become more important than winning to some.

Also a lack of overall talent and mental strength. Who was the last player outside the big 3 that made you say “holy chit this guy is gonna be a killer!” Hard to think of one.
