Most people are buying with the mindset of basic, daily supply chains being impacted for possible weeks or longer. Which is smart.
I don't think we will see the amount of deaths and all the China had (I hope), but you're delusional if you don't think this will spread across the country and cause disruptions in supply chains.
We played dumb games for too long to contain it. It's in all 50 states at this point with people infecting others and just don't know it yet.

I agree with everything you said expect media hype. The media has terrorized people with this while spouting false statistics while trying to say Trump told people to go to work while sick. We definitely need to put all resources into helping the elderly and containing it as much as possible so hospitals don't get overcrowded and people with other conditions or emergencys suffer because no beds are open. People need to start using common sense and self quarantine their self if they think there is a chance they have it at all. I'm super scared of the economy and the restaurant industry in my area because vacations and going out to eat is the first thing people stop in a time like this. We will see where we are at in 3 weeks.

I agree that Trump's quote was treated unfairly, but what did you have in mind with false statistics? I'm not saying there haven't been any, I'm just curious what you saw.

The round-the-clock coverage is a little ridiculous, IMO, but I don't see any support for "this is the end of days" hysteria. Some people are just high-anxiety and are going to panic no matter how carefully facts are reported. Those people are probably better off simply not following the news closely, or at least turning off television news, because the world is a sketchy-ass place.

I did read somewhere that the coronavirus is pretty rare to catch (excluding facts and figures within certain countries, therefore increasing the average). But as with any virus/disease, it spreads more rapidly with time. E.g resident evil zombies, spreaded stupid fast as the infected count increased in numbers. There's also only so much you can quarantine, since there's no way of telling if ALL of the virus was quarantined. There may be a vaccine to go around, but with all the testing to see if its safe for the population (you know, so it doesn't kill us), it may be a few years before it's all sorted. So who knows what will happen in the next few years. I'd think that there will be many more unfortunate fatalities to come, with an increased death to day ratio.

Hopefully there's a guy out there to inform us on how to ultrapower our immune systems.

The mortality rate and people using things the CCP is saying as fact. Was watching MSM yesterday and they were saying it can cause irreversible lung damage which I have seen zero proof of that as well as Australian college saying up to 68 million people can die from this. Just so much misinformation is sending people into panic mode for absolutely no reason. We have NO idea what the actual mortality rate is because kids show no sign of having it and young adults most likely thought it was the flu. It's super annoying.

One of the guys here at work said he heard "you can be infected and get over it, then later on it can ""reinfect you"" but be worse and cause heart attacks and nerve damage"

Fair enough, although I'd take reporting CCP data as fact to be both the only data that there is to report as well as heavily incentivized to downplay the problem, rather than overplay it.

As for lung damage, scar tissue in the lungs does appear to be a possible consequence of COVID-19, and might be long-term as it was in SARS and MERS:https://www.newscientist.com/article...y-is-covid-19/

Here's the original source for that, in Taiwanese media, citing what they claimed to be doctors in Hubei who wished to remain anonymous. I'd definitely call that a low-quality claim.

It is, however, a fact that there have been a number of cases of people testing positive again after testing negative and having no symptoms, being discharged. Japanese officials have reported this as well, not just China. Whether they were "re-infected" or just not actually recovered when they were discharged is unclear.
