Story... as in..life story?

All for hunting and sht but shooting bears seems a bit odd. Maybe coz I'm Aussie so I've never seen a wild bear and don't know how populated they are lol

I think last estimate we had around 100,000 bears in the province of Ontario alone.

Long as population is stable, I'm down with the harvest of just about anything

Life here is pretty normal. Small town of under 300 people, booms in summer cuz cottages and rich folk. Goes back to tranquility in the fall.

Always was outside when younger. First job was supplying the local bait shop with hand caught frogs and crayfish when I was 11...

Grandpa and grandma had me fishing at 6, dad had me driving boats and snowmobiles as soon as I could walk. Grew up on the water beside a fishing guide who I still fish with. He introduced me to trapping and a lot of old world knowledge. How to clean fish properly, butcher stuff. My dad wasn't an outdoorsman, but was a gearhead. My family vacations were cruising the great lakes in one of the many big horsepower cigarette style boats he used to build. He always made sure I had a boat to use, a snowmobile to drive, etc. We bought a chitty bass boat and rebuilt it into a 75 mph beast for a grad present from HS. (I just sold it two years ago)



Wheeled and dealed my way into acquiring the equipment I need. My father still does a bit of my maintenance, as he is retired now and bored.

Helped dad with trade shows selling marine equipment and machinery, traveled all over the usa helping him with trade shows...all while in public school, and highschool. used connections for deals on stuff, learned to ask questions, and doors will be opened. Heck, I still sell waverunners at a boat show in Toronto for two weeks a year because I enjoy it.. Learning how to communicate with people was key. I was a shy boy, and becoming more outgoing way great. I remember being 14 and buying a top of the line show model trolling motor for pennies on the dollar from an exhibitor, and sticking it into a shipping container headed back to canada, then flying home and meeting it. Buying a knife that was prohibited from being shipped to canada, and having one of the work truck drivers smuggling it across the border under the seat of the semi, and meeting me on the highway...imagine a more badass feeling for a 13 year old lol.

Did a co op with the minstry of natural resources in high school, and then applied to a four year university program called Outdoor Adventure Leadership. As it is a competitive program, was denied, so i called their bluff and applied for general arts, and badgered them till they let me do an inner university program transfer (highschool grades not good enough my fkin ass)

Did that for four years while working construction to pay for it, then did a carpentry apprenticeship. The guy who started the company was old and wanted to retire, so eight years ago they asked me to run the company (never even wrote my carpentry license), and now managing the company of 17 tradies, and am able to go hard at the outdoor stuff all the time also.

last year of university, bought property and built a house, got engaged, had my ass dumped, then after many bad fits, found my current wife while trapping nuisance beaver for her father, and have been married for three years.

Sold house to parents, built new house, of grid..


All throughout, a myriad of hunting, trapping, camping, fishing, etc adventures. Shooting geese with a bow on the university soccer field, snaring rabbits while stealth camping at university and college, kayak and canoe trips I shouldnt have survived, and a lot of learning along the way.

Not a pro by any means and still learning every day and having a blast doing it.

I go hard at just about everything.

Actually, no.

Really creepy tingly feelings a few times, but nothing that can't be explained simply by an overactive imagination.

Was sleeping in a tent once and heard a noise that I have never identified.

Close and loud, then dead silence. My guess is a bobcat or owl vocalization, but who knows.

There are always screeches, calls and noises, but all identifiable. All but that one.

As for weirdos, I don't see too many people when just out in the bush. If I do, I usually know them, and can already confirm they are weirdos lol

The one thing that would mess with my head, is the fukin bears wandering around.

i'd advise keeping some cliffs for yourself and perhaps a journal as you go through life, you could write about them in the future brah and if even if you never published anything they would make amazing gifts to your kids and grandkids (look at how badass our old man was), especially as your youtube channel grows srs, the kind of outdoors life you live is what many people dream about

They aren't that bad. Woke up many times to one sniffing around outside a tent.

Just yell at em and they get scared and run off.

yeah, it's awesome brah, Stephen King said that writing is the only form of telepathy we have because when you write something down it's only words but when the reader sees it they are using their imagination to make the images and therefore an intimacy develops between the two of you, when you do it for yourself you begin to chronicle all that great content in your life, i have kept a daily journal since 2014 now and it's crazy to be able to go back to a specific day or period in your life and see how you were doing think, what you were thinking etc.

btw, how is your relation with the native people there? do you interact with them much? speak much of their language? is everyone cool with each other? i saw you said in a video that you still use some of the techniques they developed, that's so awesome and makes you wonder how much ancient technology and knowledge has been lost to us through the ages, for example we still can't figure out how the Egyptians built the great pyramid

Friends with many. Sadly most of them don't even speak the language.

Got a video planned where I paddle to the river they traditionally spear fish in, and meet up with a couple native buddies and follow along as they mesh traditional spearing with modern wildlife management... they milk the fish they spear for eggs, then take them to the fish hatchery they built, and then restock millions of fry when they are hatched and big enough to make it.

The walleye don't spawn in the river for another month, but hoping to film it then.

The paddle in has great scenery. Samuel de Champlain paddled through here in like 1600 after forming an alliance with the natives. The first non native to see georgian bay, he paddled through while honoring an alliance with the Huron (iirc) and traveling to help them fight their enemies the Iroquois. They didn't win, but the battle secured many years of peace, proving once again that the best defense is offence.

fukin incredible that you eat all these different animals and hunt them yourself, your intake of meat (no homo) must be more varied than 99% of people who cycle between chicken, cow, sheep, and pig, and common fish

It is pretty varied really. Never a dull moment.

Just demolished an insane amount of prime rib tho Lol. Got a pretty goodfood coma going on.

Caught a mess of white crappie with visiting brother in law this morning and got them fileted before dinner. My sister made perfect med rare prime rib for dinner. Haven't had prime rib in years.

Just googled grouse. Can't recall if I've eaten birds other than the usual birds everyone eats (chicken/duck/turkey/quail/etc).

Always wanted to try moose. Is it gamey? Would try that in a heartbeat, regardless of gameyness, so I guess that question was stupid, lol. Also would love to try some elk, horse, kangaroo, and I know I'll get hate for this one, dog. Dog is eaten a ton in places like Vietnam, IIRC.

ever tried horse OP? it's popular among central asian cultures and their people are often sturdy and strong as fuk (think mongols)

also, do you keep any sort of emergency kit in your car? i imagine that whenever you leave the house you are in some respect putting your life at risk given the low temperature?
