These salaries are extremely inflated except for VHCOL areas. Basically just the most expensive areas of CA make that much.

Also nursing is an awful career to get into now. Literally every nurse I have ever met hates it. This includes my mother and my wife. Hell half this town is nurses because Mayo Clinic is here.

Dont want to derail topic talking about "intelligence" as that is not what this is about. But many set threshold of 'mental retardation' at 70. Depending on IQ test, 'genius' is somewhat arbitrary and depending on test can vary from 130-145 for the lower threshold.
It is the principal idea that raising a child with higher than avg intellect has challenges just as raising one with lower than avg. Schools teach to the median and neither the mentally handicap, nor very gifted with thrive in a school environment without intervention.

An example of raising a child with high intellect, was when my daughter was 7. Most kids her age are happy watching Dora the Explorer. She on the other hand heard about the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan. She became obsessed with learning about tsunami's weather patterns, and nuclear power production. I had to explain to her how nuclear power works, what we use as safe guards. (because we live within 50 miles of a nuclear power plant). During this discussions of Chernobyl came up and I had to explain to her all about that. I had to find reading materials for her to learn about it...etc. This from a 7 year old. So as a parent, you do the best you can to answer every question. It is not always easy. But anyway, it was my general point that kids of all types come with their specific challenges. As parents it is our responsibility to recognize our kids needs and give them an environment in which they can be THEIR best. The emotional aspects are just as important as the intellectual ones.

I dont think I have those kind of funds honestly. 12 years ago, I made the decision to not continue the pursuit of MOAR. We have enough to be comfortable, but we dont live an extravagant life style. Happy and satisfied with what we have and of course thankful. Just want to see what their potential brings them. They need to have their own accomplishments.

You’re telling her to keep her opinions to herself and just roll with it? That’s the kinda chit that creates these problems. Tell her to voice her opinion when she feels like it. Lawsuit against any school that discriminates unfairly.

Or maybe just don’t send your kid to a college? Plenty of ways to have a good life without supporting that chit system.
