I posted before in part V about getting a Omega Speedmaster but didn't want to deal with the customs and taxes in the country i was living in then.. Now I'm in Aus i can import and just pay 10% GST.
However maybe spending 3k on a used speedmaster professional isn't the wisest thign to do for me right now, so I've been looking more at Seikos, specifically the Seiko 5 and the Seiko Monster. Since they are much more affordable I could buy several of them including a dress watch but then if it's ok to wear a diver with a suit I won't bother since I don't really wear a suit that often and can just keep that money to save up for a speedmaster professional down the road..

Also any manual wind watches under 1k? After looking at the speedy for so long i warmed up to the idea of getting a old-school winding watch..
If you don't mind watch sizes of 42mm and up you can look at some with the unitas 6497 movement in it. Should be around 1k. I can't think of very many movements that are manual below 1k, the prevalence of the eta 2824 and it's clones is dooming for the handwound watches.

Whats up boyos. I am looking to get into an entry level watch for wearing on more special occasions. What are the popular pieces, and where is there a good used market? I just bought some redwing iron rangers and chuka weekenders so I am really not looking to spend a ton.

Thanks

Also can someone rep me so I can find this thread easier, ill rep back

It's suppose to be a Seiko 5 sport diver around 35-38mm. That's the perfect size for me because tfw baby wrists.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say the SNZF17K

Bracelet vs leather strap is all personal preference. I like bracelets more because they feel more solid in my opinion. That said, I believe leather straps are far dressier and look well with just about anything.

You could save up for a speedmaster reduced if you want.

More info here:

Otherwise, Orient watches are very popular in your price range.

Thanks for the info. I read up on it about, why its the "moonwatch." I would love to own one down the road. Its not a matter of saving, I have the money right now. Its more the principle. I do not own a home, nor a respectable car. To buy a watch for several thousand dollars would be piss poor judgement on my part.

Another factor is I am a mechanic. I hardly ever find myself in formal settings. It just doesnt coincide with my lifestyle to have a high end time piece.

Some of citizens watches look pretty cool. Gonna check them out a bit more

Got a new purchase inbound. Went to the store looking for a classy thin chrono, ended up purchasing a Breitling Bandit. Having it shipped out of state though to save on the sales tax. Should be here Wednesday

Hnnngnggghhhhh dem pushers

For a 45mm monster it's actually pretty light (titanium). Brushed indices are a nice break from lumed pips, though it still has lume.

I literally just saw this watch in person last weekend. My Uncle has an older titanium version on a bracelet.

Awesome watch, the red tip on the minute hand looks great.

Great choice broseph. If you don't post pics I will come to your house and disrespect you in front of your whole family.

Thanks brah. It looks a lot darker in photos…the light plays with the titanium in really interesting ways because of how they brush the bezel (outward from the center from the looks of it). First pic is mine…second one is someone else's but it gives you a better impression of what it looks like in person.
