btw we need to cut vance asap

i hope we go with some of the youth for depth and not so well known guys we've seen, i think bourne and aldrick robinson should make the roster, hightower should go and we should keep joe williams and breida behind hyde. i hope the roster shapes out well and lynch makes the right decisions. we need to be thinking of the future but at the same time make the roster the best it can be this year. tough position to be in

beathard has been solid so far i like what i seen from him

Why are we cutting Vance? He was one of the few playing well. At worst we should trade him. Cutting him would be a mistake.

Williams is obviously making the roster and I'm pretty sure Breida is too. It's whether or not we keep 4 RBs or not.

WRs will be tough see my post a few back. Bourne is making plays out there but Bolden is doing his part too, CJ missed him but there was a huge TD play to be had there. Good to see him make the read though.

I think it's crazy that we have a bunch of UDFAs with a very good shot to make the roster

Lorenzo Jerome
Matt Breida
Victor Bolden/Kendrick Bourne

I think Jerome and Breida are locks actually. I think Erik Magnuson and/or Darrell Williams have a chance to make it as well on the OL.

Vance drops everything he's had more than enough chances to prove his worth, cutting maybe not the right word but he needs to not be on our 53. If we can get something for him great but I do not want him on this team. I can catch better than he can. Rather go with kittle and hikutini, add celek or bell if we keep 3.

WR gonna be a tough area in cuts, also I am concerned about our OL in run blocking.

Jerome looked ok to me, made some nice plays but pretty sure it was him who let up on the TD pass when he could've laid a big hit on the WR. Would like to see him go hard at that WR. Also I want to see Ward play in this defense, Reid and Tartt looked very good last night hope to see them continue that.

After last night I am really worried about the ol. They can't even get hyde room to run. Sadly if it is like last year he will get injured again. I was hoping to see an improvement.

If not for the 4 turnovers the game wasn't too bad last night.

My thoughts
Eric Reid looked good
Jerome looked good. Ward better show up when he comes back
Tank actually looks good when he plays on the outside
Hoyer - he did have some good throws but that fumble was bad. it happens
Eli Harold - he had a golden opportunity last night with the start over Brooks and didn't even get on the stat sheet. Yes he was held once.
Tartt - seemed to have a good game
Oline - No holes to run through but pass protection looked ok
Hyde - hard to tell since he had to deal with people in the backfield all night
Kittle - nice run after catch
Brooks - weird seeing him in with the backups but he didn't even look that good.

It was the 2nd preseason game with a team in a total rebuild. I'm not going to freak out.

Not sure why the Vance hate. he played good IMO. The one pass he didn't catch seemed to be uncatchable.

Hmm weird I don't recall seeing Vance drop anything he should've caught. If anything I thought he had a nice grab in a tough spot and got hit pretty hard and kept the ball which is a plus. Hikuni hasn't shown me anything to get excited about. I'd keep the vet who can block well and hope he gets his hands on point because he's a big body who can move. Still love when he trucked Sherman.

There's no way you can fault Jerome for giving up that TD pass. Maybe he could've gone in with a huge hit to try and knock the dude back or out but he wouldn't have gotten there in time and possible could've drawn a flag too. Can't fault him there IMO.

I think Harold actually did a good job out there. I think he got 2 holding calls against him called. Would like to see him close those out.

Wasn't faulting him for the TD but he clearly let up and didn't hit the guy when he was running right at him, guy still probably would've scored but at least lay the wood on him, never know maybe he fumbles, just want that physicality to be shown not letting up. Also Vance dropped a pass near the first down line on a route across the middle that he definitely should have caught which I was referring too. Just tired of it, yes he did have like two other catches but every time it goes to him catch or no catch I nearly have a heart attack, don't feel like its ever safe going to him.

MikeD agree with most of that last post. Pretty spot on. Also Lynch looked better last week against the 2s than Brooks this week. We might cut Brooks and I would be pretty indifferent about that.

That would be interesting… Curious if cutting would save any money or if we would still take a huge hit. I guess the backups are playing really good?

Surprising but probably means they didn't get any bites on trading him which makes sense since his contract was fairly sizable. I thought the writing was on the wall and I'm good with it. Eli has been showing some good things in the new scheme(just needs to work on wrapping up those sack opportunities)

I also think they're trying to sell Tank Carradine high but they won't cut him but I have a strong feeling they'll try to trade him or Lynch and Lynch has more upside. Tank hasn't shown nearly as much as Lynch has and Solomon Thomas is going after that spot.

You know what you're gonna get with Brooks, plays well and durable but also a few penalties here and there. But his age I think is the biggest reason why they are letting him go and tbh I am not mad at it. He's not the veteran leader type, and we can probably match his production with some younger guys and keep developing them for the future. Not mad at the move, props to Ahmad tho he was a pretty solid Niner even though he did have a few issues on and off the field.

HE has been a niner for like 9 years. Had a pretty good carieer as far as I am concerned.

This looks to be true. They are really trying to hype him up right now.

However our running game is a concern. Big surprise and a happy one with our pass blocking but none of the RBs really had room to run. If we can't run the ball Hoyer simply isn't good enough to shoulder the offense. Kyle lives off those playaction passes.

Hopefully Garnett gets healthy sooner rather than later and having him back helps the run blocking while keeping the pass blocking going strong.

I like what CJ is showing on his end as well. He didn't start out well and his stat line looked awful early(i was watching GOT live) but when i went back to watch his plays the stats didn't tell the true story. The pick should've been an easy completion, that INT was totally on Murphy coughing up the ball. He did have some throws get away from him there and his stats were aided by the catch and run by Mostert but he's still showing great pocket presence and awareness and a grasp for the offense.

I don't know if he's the next Tom Brady lol but he looks like he could be another Kirk Cousins. If he shows that he can be a decent starter it could save us a ton of money in free agency and really let us go BPA in the draft, potentially allow us to trade down for a boatload of picks if we're in position to land one of the top QBs. I certainly wouldn't put all our eggs in the Beathard basket but the pick certainly seems to be a solid 3rd rounder on what he's shown so far.

I don't want to get ahead of the game and these guys havne't played a single down of actual games that matter in the NFL but this class can be special

Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster can be cornerstone players on our defense
Witherspoon needs work but is coming on lately and should be a starter if he works at it in the next 2-3 years
CJ Beathard - at worst he looks like a very competent backup
Joe Williams & Matt Breida IMO are locks for the roster
George Kittle - looks great so far and may end up being the starting TE or at least #2 behind McDonald
Trent Taylor - looking like a Wes Welker type slot WR who catches everything and just gets open
DJ Jones - depth for now but a big boy who can move
Lorenzo Jerome - solid play so far and looks like the game isn't too big for him at this level

Why the fuk can't Reid tell Shanahan? I mean…he tells the PR staff, but not the head coach? They have to tell the head coach. Dude better step up his play or I could go without him. Moves like that are devisive for sure.

We actually have a QB and a coordinator that can utilize a guy like Goodwin. That's exciting in itself. Garcon looks solid. Our offense should actually be competent. And our defense can be even better than that. If everything goes right we can go 8-8. That'd be fun to watch.

I definitely hate seeing that…the only good thing this year was that other teams and players have done this, I think Cleveland had like 8 guys doing it? I'd rather none of our players did this just because it brings extra attention and takes away from the team. Unless Reid plays just too damn good this season I definitely see him not getting re-signed.

I have nothing against what they're trying to do but I think they're ignorant as fuk if they think this doesn't cause distractions. Any time reporters ask about stuff not related to football it's a distraction to the rest of the team. Nobody will admit it because they know how quickly the SJWs will come down on them but I know they're thinking it.
