As a loooong time Niner fan the thing that i was amazed at was the speed and intensity of the defense. The guys were fast and hitting harder than i can ever recall. The offense was balanced and not as bad as Hoyers reputation was, he didn't look half bad. And then there was the 6ft8 355 pound lineman…….
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and…It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

He's a solid vet. He's always been a good player while on the field. Don't expect anything huge but he'll make plays and isn't a liability…though he does get his fair share of offside penalties.

Vance McDonald traded to Pittsburgh…

Adam Schefter ✔ @AdamSchefter
49ers trading TE Vance McDonald and a fifth-round pick to the Steelers for a fourth-round pick, per sources. Steelers upgrade TE.

Don't like the trade but I guess if they weren't seeing enough out of him it makes sense to get something.

I can see him doing really well with Pittsburgh.

So now we have Kittle, Celek and Logan Paulsen? I am sure I am missing someone…

Sad to think we had to give them a 5th rounder to take Vance. lol… Really sad that he also got en extension last year.

It's basically to get his contract off the books…but seems kind of silly considering how much cap room we have these days.

You're forgetting Hikutini and Blake Bell. I haven't seen much from Hikutini but I know people were hyping him up. Bell hasn't done chit.

You must'be caught blinkers mid ninja delete lol

Obviously all we got was like a 10-20 spot move if that. Steelers giving us their 4th, we gave them Vance and our 5th.

I imagine Steelers will be picking low-high 20s while we'll be picking early in the rounds.

And so it begins…. They released Sean Porter.

Don't even know who this guy is.

And it sounds like Staley has tendinitis in his knee. Hopefully it isn't too bad. I get some issues every now and then and it sucks.

I was a big Laken Tomlinson fan when he was coming into the NFL, ditto Cam Irving(thought he was a slam dunk starter at center for 10+ years) kind of crazy how both of those guys didn't really do much.

Hopefully Tomlinson likes the change of scenery and ends up being a keeper. But hard to get excited when a team with a franchise QB gives away one of their OLmen who was a former 1st round pick and still young…

Change is always good. I think at this point we can expect Garnett to be out longer than expected. So the team is just trying to fill some holes however they can, or they are thinking about canning someone else and want another replacement?

Tonight's finaly preseason game will be fun. I think we can expect most starters to not play. Now we can watch everyone who is fighting for a spot.

I hope we hold onto Erik Magnuson, he's versatile, young and has potential to turn into a pretty good player. May make sense to just IR Garnett and give him adequate time to heal without tying up a roster spot for him and cutting someone else.

I want us to hold on to a lot of the young guys even if that means cutting some of the vets. We aren't doing anything this year so might as well see what the young guys can do. Guys like Fusco, Barnes, Hightower, Murphy etc all need to go if a younger player is anywhere near there talent level.

Didn't watch the game but see Asa Jackson had 2 picks and Bolden returned a TD. Not sure if that will be enough to put Asa on the roster but he seems to be making a strong case.

Did Bourn not play?

Will be checking the cuts all day today and tomorrow!!!

Gonna watch the game today since NFL Network didn't play it on time last night but from what i've seen in clips/reports I don't think Asa did enough, dude wasn't exactly playing great in prior games.

Bolden may have a chance but Shanahan's comments after the game don't offer up any guarantees. Basically unless we make him our main kick/punt returner he's probably not making the team. I think Bourne played just didn't get much going his way.

Williams needs to hold onto the ball, Breida has outplayed him so far but you can clearly see his talent running the ball but fumbles is a perfect way to not see the field. Has to get that chit in check.

I hate making 53 man predictions but here's my stab at it…

Offense(24)
QB: Hoyer, Beathard(2)
RB: Hyde, Breida, Williams, Mostert(4)
FB: Juszczyk(1)
WR: Garcon, Goodwin, Kerley, Robinson, Taylor and Bolden(6)
TE: Kittle, Paulsen, Celek (3)
OL: Staley, Brown, Kilgore, Beadles, Tomlinson, Magnuson, Fusco, Theus(8) Garnett on IR

Defense(26)
DL: Buckner, Mitchell, Thomas, Carradine, Armstead, Dumervil, Lynch, DJ Jones, Chris Jones, Marks(10) Blair on IR
LB: Bowman, Foster, Harold, Watson, Armstrong, Taumoepenu(6)
CB: Robinson, Johnson, Williams, Witherspoon, Reaser, Colbert(6)
S: Reid, Ward, Tartt, Jerome(4)

SP(3)
P: Pinion
K: Gould
LS: Nelson

I think we should look into trading some of our DL. Not sure Dial makes the roster so would be good to get something for him.

That is a pretty good list. I only watched 3 quarters last night. There were a few guys last night that made a strong case to make the team. Out of the whole game there is probably only like 4-6 people who might stay. We sat 30 something and we still had a good number of people who will be on the final roster dress and play. My biggest concern is the oline. Given that they were just backups/rookies last night it was pretty awful to watch.

Like you said I think we may try and trade a few because we are pretty strong at some areas. I am curious to see if the team tries to grab anyone else that gets cut around the league?

Curious to see who makes it, I'm digging the competition we got this year and you could tell guys were playing for a spot last night. I think the roster cuts might make each team a little better cause they know its harder on waivers this year with a flood of guys to stash people. Also we get #2 pick on people so thats legit. All things considered last night was entertaining game to watch and I like where the team is at considering what we were at last year and one prior.

Forgot about that! Hopefully Lynch is on top of this. I am sure there might a few people out there who could be an upgrade or at least a better project for the PS.

Team is being pretty tight lipped which is something we haven't seen in a while. They probably want to meet with most of the guys before it's released. Funny watching the players that are on the cusp on their twitter feed.
