This is why I'm selling my amp and just using my sim at this point. Haven't tried running my pedals into my interface yet though.

It's amusing to me that you'll pay $15K on electric guitars but you won't just buy a modeler which is objectively superior to sims across the board.

My ENGL and my Axe-FX are neck and neck in terms of tones - no sims can touch the ENGL.

Lol I have not spent 15K on guitars, well actually if I add up the total of all that I've bought and sold over the years then yea maybe haha

I would say I'm the most avid fan on the misc when it comes to modern electronic guitar gear.

Axe-fx is a bunch of amp sims …

I had a Helix, I had a Kemper, Edit for completion-> GT1000 and others I forget now<-. I have an Amplifire and the Tonex pedal now.
Tonex is by far the best of the bunch but nowhere near a tube amp and a cab …

The Axe-FX does very well in comparison to my ENGL. And hardware is different than amp sims in a all purpose PC, and there is no sim that matches the Axe-FX and the other big modelers/profilers really in terms of tone and feel imo. But I do believe Tonex is the best value proposition for modeling/profiling right now easily.

It would definitely make life a lot easier and I'd be in rack nerd heaven programming it. Something to look forward to.

Many Quad Cortex users seem to complain about the Archetype plugins not being available for it as was promised years ago. If I paid $2K for that thing I wouldn't be amused if a $120 plugin was matching it or even sounding better right out of the gate. I kind of like the fact Cliff at Fractal isn't wasting his time on that and just focuses on building the best hardware options you can buy.

Personally I don't like the idea of navigating a laptop when dialing in sounds. Even with Two Notes I didn't bother with the phone interface and dialed it all in via the tiny display turning knobs until it sounded good. I'm actually going to get one of those old school multitracks with an SD card so I can record and layer my guitar parts without staring a computer screen and then dump the tracks into a DAW and finish music that way. Computers and guitars used simultaneously doesn't inspire me. I like nerding out with both but not at the same time.

People are pissed at Quad Cortex in the forums and it pleases me. All these unworthy contenders vying for the Axe-FX throne.

Axe-FX > all other modelers/profilers.

Yeah when it comes to tone and feel the Kemper is on par with the Axe-FX, some prefer the Kemper over the Axe-FX in those regards and vice versa. But if we're talking everything included - the effects, recording etc the Axe-FX is the cream of the crop imo.

My Charvel DK24 with steel frets doesn't have my ideal finish and color but it is growing on me. I do like that it's at least gloss and not a standard color for them.

Axe-FX 3 MK2 Turbo > all other modelers/profilers. - Until next year when MK3 is released which will be even more 100% real. And two years from now Axe FX 4!!! Which will be more real and authentic than reality itself.

Interesting investigation but on the other hand this guy knew very well that this videos will create notoriety and get a ton of views so in a way he does the same thing he criticises i.e. uses the lack of Lee's mentioning of his involvement with Victory for his own benefit.

Obviously a full time sh*t stirrer. I must have clicked on that Peavey video he did dredging up an old quote from George Lynch about why he never went through with a signature amp and that's why this one popped up.

Figured I'd share it anyone in case some were curious. Anderton was open about it when asked but 10 years is a pretty long time for a brand to be out there without publicly disclosing a vested interest in it.

I suspected they were connected somehow given how quickly they popped up after Cornford went bust but as that guy pointed out he never actually disclosed it until now.

I'd like to acquire a Cornford RK100 one day.

I think I assumed Victory Amps was Andertons as soon as that pudgy fukk Rabea got a signature Victory amp lol.

3 signature amps for Andertons staff. I get your point. Not really hiding much there.

So Ritchie Kotzen annoys me. He sounds so much better with a pick and yet he insists on his annoying gotta-play-with-my-fingers thing why not being able to to the Matteus Mancuso thing. Dude should just get over himself and use picks again and restore like 50% of his abilities back.

It's a nice problem to have when you were one of the best shredders of your time with a pick, can blues it up and appeal to millions more who aren't shred fetishists by ditching the pick… and when you open up your pipes you sound like Chris Cornell.

I practice a lot without a pick because it's a lot more expressive but naturally there are also limitations so the best of both worlds is being able to seamlessly switch between both. The key is being able to quickly hide the pick in such a way that you can still use all your fingers.

It's not even that he plays with his fingers that's annoying, it's that he's given up pick playing entirely even in instances where the pick would be the superior choice for what he's playing. Also it doesn't seem like he's doing much with his finger style that couldn't be replicated with a pick or at least hybrid-picking.

I guess he wanted to distance himself from the shred era he came up in and there's no better way to do that than to take away one of the tools that made it possible. He's still playing at a high level. Like you I don't get why it has to be either/or but that's just the choice he made. Commercially it hasn't affected him.

Either way he's ridiculously talented.

Yeah I'm not actually criticizing him other than I feel like he put a limiter on his playing. Perhaps playing with his fingers is easier for him when singing, or maybe he prefers fingers for his "power blues" style or whatever it's called.

I also think it's funny that he was kicked out of Poison for sleeping with the drummer's wife. Doesn't use picks, sleeps with married women - what a fukking deviant.
