Surprised Witherspoon is inactive and would have like to see Bolden return kicks too but Mostert and Taylor did solid in preseason too. Not liking Lynch and Ward being injured they need to get healthy.

And it appears Bruce Ellington has a consussion. Legit feels bad for this guy. He leaves this team and finally get the chance to play and now this. Hopefully a minor one.

Great pick by Tartt, making up for some bonehead plays, O needs a score let's go! Agree on Beadles needing to go, just thin at the position with Garnett out and Tomlinson being new.

Not a great half, but still in the game. Need to get on top of penalties and get the offense going. Cam looks pretty bad tbh we need to take advantage. Just glad Ruben seems to have avoided serious injury although we don't know for sure whats up with him good to see him on the sideline after being carted off.

Good news is, lock for a top three pick. Should be able to grab a QB and a decent guard 2nd rd.
Over/Under 100 total yards against Seattle? I'll take the under.

Biggest positive is Foster is not seriously hurt, sucks that he got hurt at all.
Beadles is a huge liability.
Penalties are a big issue.
Jimmie Ward is in my eyes unproven but we need him out there apparently? Tartt made one great play but a few really stupid ones.
We need Lynch too, our pass rush was really bad ZERO sacks today.
Questionable play calling, and green coaching moments galore, game management and penalties we need improvement from Kyle and his staff.
Run defense was clearly better than last year.
Foster makes a huge impact on our defense but he can't be a one man team out there but we really need him. Armstrong is not good and Bowman just not the same, plus no Malcolm Smith all year.
2 turnovers forced is good, but we matched that on our own offense.
Still don't see any "star" players other than Foster need more from recent early draft picks.
A Goodwin catch on drive 1 would have been big.
Luckily every other team minus Rams lost but we got at Seattle next week so…
team needs a lot of improvement still

I saw a lot of positives. I think the offense can be respectable when we cut down on. Hyde looked great, especially. If we didn't give up that awful TD, I think the game looks a lot different. After that, we started playing catch up and things went downhill pretty fast. That being said, Cam did not look good at all and I'm worried how our secondary holds up against a real QB.
The good news is
The good news is
Rookie linebacker Reuben Foster vowed to return “very, very, very soon” after leaving his 49ers debut with an ankle injury less than 12 minutes into Sunday’s 23-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Well that was a disappointing loss. I wasn’t expecting a win but I thought we would have been more competitive.
Disappointed most in:
1. DL applied no pressure. I know we don’t have a true edge rusher but not even the inside guys applied pressure and they are supposedly our strength
2. OL. What a joke. I sure hope the Laken Tomlinson guy is at least average
3. Miscommunications in the secondary. Too many guys running wide open. Thankfully Cam Newton was off in the first half or it could have been much worst. I don’t think Jimmy Ward will solve the issue since he hasn’t played much at all during the offseason.
What I liked:
1. Rueben Foster was all over the place before his injury. Almost had a pick too.
2. Hyde looked good when he had an opening
3. Garcon and Kittle played well I thought
4. Tartt’s interception. Awesome play
Its only week 1 so I’m not freaking out and doubt I will freak out too much all year as my expectations are low. Still think we will win 4-6 games.

First off I did not expect to win. However I was hoping for a lot more from the offense. Not sure where to put the blame there.
-The oline was garbage. Hoyer was doomed. I think he had a few nice throws. The deep ball was on the money expect we can't catch.
-Hyde had a pretty good game. I think he averaged over 5 yards a carry. He also had less that 10 runs. And again the oline was not very good so our running game was not great.
I think out defense played pretty well considering they were on the field the entire game. At some point they will break down and they did.
-Foster looked good and thankfully he is ok.
- Bowman looked rusty or a little slow.
- Run D looked great.
- Secondary not so much….
-Pass rush was not there and that also did not help the secondary.
-Tartt had a few broker plays but also had some decent tackles and a great interception.
Other than that I did not expect a whole lot. I think the Kyle was really trying to figure out what could work with what we have on the field. I think he knew we really did not have a good shot at winning and was calling plays just to see how the team would execute them. Sadly they didn't execute them very well. I was really happy to see him get super pissed at the ref when he tried to call a time out. We have Seattle this week and I see more of the same this week. Hopefully defense can play better and we get a little more out of the offense. If not Seattle has our number as always and it will be a real long night or the team.

Will need to rewatch the game since I can only watch it on xbox direct tv feed which lags like hell time to time.
I thought we looked much better in the first half(obviously)
Offense:
Hoyer - started out looking pretty good but overall was awful. I think the pressure and especially the Kuechly pick fuked with his head. We still had a chance to make it a game towards the end and he had Taylor but he didn't pull the trigger because Kuechly was in the area and it's definitely because of the earlier pick and he didn't trust that he could get the ball there in time. He was wrong. Need him to play better, simple as that. Also shows Hoyer is not the answer(don't think anyone felt that he was)
Hyde - running hungry, made a great catch out there too. We'll need him to keep it up to have a chance. Next week will be tough to gain yards.
Garcon - easily the best guy we have on offense, dude is money.
Goodwin - good guy but YOU HAVE TO CATCH THAT! This game could be very different if he makes that catch on a perfectly thrown ball by Hoyer.
Staley&Brown - easily the best guys on the OL. I need to rewatch the game to see if Brown deserves the PFF grade they gave him as they said he didn't give up any pressures. I thought he gave up at least one but who knows it may be their crazy way of evaluating OL when they don't engage a defender they don't count it against the OL if that defender gets a pressure or sack.
Beadles & Fusco - ugh. Beadles especially was getting his ass handed to him. Hopefully Tomlinson can be ready for next week or Hoyer and Hyde may not make it out of Seattle healthy. Going to be tough to get much offense going with the interior playing this bad.
Kilgore - hard to see how well or bad he played with the guys around him.
OL - overall obviously wasn't their best showing. I think a lot was related to the interior play and new scheme. Bunch of stunts missed and guys getting confused who should take whom. Carolina has a nasty DL but Seattle's is even better. Won't get easier for a while.
Defense:
DL - much improved playing the run but left a lot wanting as far as pass rush. Solomon Thomas is a work in progress, I know he's getting killed over at webzone but people have retarded expectations of a guy. He made some nice plays in the running game but he needs to learn how to disengage better and use his quickness and agility to get through for pressures/sacks. He did force a holding penalty out there so while the webzone crowd will say he made no impact that wasn't the case. I expect him to get better as the season goes on similar to JJ Watt. And really the rest of our guys didn't fare much better. Buckner, Armstead, Mitchell, etc not much pressure. Dumervil got close but hopefully the unit can take a big step forward next week vs Seattle's OL(may be worse than ours) I didn't get to watch the whole GB game but it sounds like GB was in the backfield all day in Wilson's face. If we're still showing 0 sacks and little pressure after that then it may be time to panic.
LB -
Foster - I didn't want to buy into the Foster hype til he showed it on the field in a real game…well he was doing just that before his injury. Kid was all over the place and had a near pick 6 out there. He's a baller but like with any player he needs to be healthy. Thankfully it sounds like his injury isn't as bad as it looked. I thought it was a broken ankle for sure, especially when they brought out the cart. Glad it's not a big one like that but I hope we keep him out next week vs Seattle. Whatever the reason we always seem to get killed injury wise at Seattle….rather let Foster get closer to 100% before he's back out there and not risk aggravating it more.
Bowman - Definitely not the same beast LB that he was prior to his injuries but he's still making plays.
Armstrong - filled in pretty well for Foster. I need to see it again but I thought the facemask penalty on him was total BS, he grabbed the guy by the shoulder pad but he made up for it next play blowing up McCaffrey in the backfield and Robinson did his part stripping the ball away.
Harold - didn't see much from him outside of him getting hurt. Need him to provide the speed rush…
CBs - they played pretty well despite everything but hard to say how much was due to Newton being rusty. He was missing some guys pretty bad. Robinson had the great strip of McCaffrey I mentioned earlier and it was good to see him making solid tackles since he whiffed on some key ones in preseason. Need them to play well…we thought the pass rush up front would help the secondary but this game was nearly flipped and no pass rush was seen.
S - Tartt had some good and some bad. Terrible job wrapping up Sheppard on the Carolina first TD. Who knows what happens if he actually tackles him there. Also had the cheap shot that drew the flag(just dumb and unnecessary) and can't remember if he was the guy flagged for a bad PI could've been someone else. His interception was probably the play of the game for the 49ers and he was a tackling machine. Didn't notice Jerome much so I think they played Reid and Tartt as their safeties, will pick up during rewatch but we need to see Ward out there to really figure out wtf we have.
Coaching - Not sure what Kyle was doing. I think he understands this season isn't one that will see us fighting for the playoffs so he wants to see what we have at least that's what I'm telling myself. Either that or he trusts the defense a lot more than he probably should with all those 4th down conversions. I was rip chit pissed at the no call on holding/PI vs Garcon and the refs not granting time out late in the game when we had to settle for the FG. You'd figure the refs would do their job when a team is getting blown out but they were just piling on.
The playcalling was definitely better but the execution was sloppy.
Announcers - Not something I typically address and I don't know if everyone else had the same team but holy fuk were they awful. Like painfully bad. Getting player names wrong, commenting on the plays incorrectly.
The worst one was when Hoyer took a 5 yard loss on 2nd down and the announcer was praising him for not throwing the ball away because it would've been an illegal man downfield.
Yes how fuking brilliant of Hoyer to take a 5 yard loss and move us to 3rd and 8, instead of throwing the ball away and either having 3rd and 3 or if the Panthers took the penalty have us at 2nd and 8…yes what a great move by Hoyer.
I couldn't believe wtf I was hearing.

They were god awful…. They were all over Cams nuts the entire game. I personally do not think Cam is that great. If he gets hit to many times he get messed up in the head. They made it really hard to watch.
