Are you super triple sure it's a hairline scratch and not just a mark from something? I've read a lot of threads on WUS where people were for sure convinced that they scratched he ceramic, just to have it disappear in a few days.

My mate smacks his 45mm ceramic Plocean onto a doorknob and there were some seriously nasty marks on it. They all went away with time.

Yeah also things like dried water marks on the bezel can look like scratches. Give it a real good clean and if it's still there have a look at it through a loupe.

yeah pretty sure. You can see it between the 40 and the 50. It actually runs a little longer, but isnt quite as noticeable. The light has to hit it right.

I am a fan of Tourby.

Will you be replacing the bezel, or just chalking it up to patina?

Its not really that noticeable in person, its just annoying now that I have seen it once. Not worth replacing at this stage.

Torn Brahs….. Wanted to go all out and get a new Sub/Daytona/AP………….but realized after wearing my poverty orient cycling watches wasn't my thing. Would want one nice timepiece for night/out and about.

1) AP? I heard service is expensive but who cares……my car service is too. Only problem are they 'fragile'? require lots of upkeep or can I just put it on and roam

2) Daytona..love the look…but if I am only getting one would this be it?

3) New Sub……like the look, very common seems robust/a staple of a watch collection…..although will I tire of it after a while?

price point..ehh don't really care but if you were to grab one watch which would it be?

Royal oak 15400 extra thin, you won't want anything else.

Of course, you could step it up a little more and get a Patek 5711 that will last forever.

Any issues with the AP such as up keep or is it pretty minimal except for its service?

Depends on what condition you get it in ultimately, even new ones sometimes have factory defects but those are under warranty obviously.

It's a pretty simple robust movement, I've had a few that I wore everyday without incident

Damn broseph excellent options you honestly cant go wrong.

I would take the Daytona as It is the perfect middle ground. Luxury but still very versatile. Since this will be your first big purchase (apologies if I am assuming wrong) You may actually be put off by the AP services.

However an AP is my personal grail.

Any MWC brahs have or handled a Nomos Ahoi? I've been looking at one for a while now and found a pretty good deal on one. My only concern is paying double for what's essentially a beefed up/slightly sportier Tangente.

I find excellent value in nomos watches in their entry level stuff. You'll pay an arm and a leg for anything more than a simple three handed hand cranker. I don't know why it costs you hundreds of dollars to add a date, and thousands to make it an automatic from them, but it does. Ultimately though, the ahoi Atlantic is an awesome watch I would gladly own. Go for it!

I do love the look of the Ahoi, but I would rather get an Omega Speedmaster or the cheaper Tangente.

But if you really like the Ahoi then why not? Something different to stand out from the crowd.

I love my speedy, but the finishing on my $1500 nomos club i owned blew the speedy out of the water. It wasnt even a fair fight. Nomos does some exceptional finishing for their price point.

Don't feel the need to flip this for the new Explorer, I don't feel the lume or longer hands are a big enough hook for me.
Love this as a daily, am tempted to add a GMT to the collection after trying my hairdressers on. It wears so well.

pretty good sign you are doing something right if competing manufacturers are getting upset by it.

Have not seen their movements IRL, mine had a steel back, but their dial and casework are impeccable.

Got a piece coming in from japan that has been stuck in customs for almost 5 days now. Ive never had troubles importing from japan before, mainly issues with germany taking forever. Fffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Agreed. Great value on their lower end, good value on their mid range stuff.

Will probably order the Ahoi in the next few days.

Got the new CW magazine today…basically an entire issue dedicated to justifying the branding change.

I see their point with regard to brand identity but am still having a lot of trouble liking the new branding

Also, pls say you are ordering the blue ahoi. Nomos does blue so well, like few others do. Must be a German thing.

My German friends all seem to see Nomos as somewhat of a fashion brand. Was a little amazed when multiple people told me it was "that brand people buy when they know nothing about watches".
