c.) What happens overnight?

While muscle glycogen levels will not deplete significantly over night, the brain’s demand for glycogen as fuel will drain liver glycogen. It is common for a night time fast to deplete the liver from roughly 90g of glycogen storage to 20g, due to the brain’s 0.1 g/min glucose utilization rate. Since the main role of liver glycogen is to maintain blood glucose levels, basically a glucostat, regulating liver glycogen would be the primary focus of the pre-workout meal.

While consuming a quick shake or bar while running to the gym before dawn will not have an effect on muscle glycogen, it will prevent a hypoglycemic state by promoting glycogen release from the liver into the blood. The blood contains around 5g of glucose, with levels dipping in the early morning following sleep, and if that hypoglycemic state goes unabated, dizziness, nausea and reductions in motor skills will have a negative effect on exercise performance.

Despite early research indicating that consuming a high-carbohydrate meal within an hour of exercise will cause rebound hypoglycemia, further research has since refuted that finding, with a large variety of studies demonstrating that hypoglycemia can be avoided if carbohydrates are ingested gradually within 45 minutes of exercise. Practically, consuming food upon waking will maintain normal blood glucose levels, and decrease the risk of hypoglycemia; with the only caveat being the ability to stomach the meal.

5 years old, I guess if you're lifting weights it's not much of a big deal cause you use mostly muscle glycogen.

more research needed on optimal time to train…i guess whatever you are used to.

https://www.t-nation.com/training/th...f-day-to-train

Maybe something here?

https://www.t-nation.com/training/th...ay-to-work-out
Research has supported the idea of two "target times" for great performance:

4 to 5 hours after waking
11-12 hours after waking
will check those links out, interesting. I think it is worth noting that 90g of glycogen in the liver is a very static figure, assuming that one is larger than an average test specimen to roughly 175#, of someone is 25% larger would they not have the ability to store more glycogen? Or of they knew they were training the next morning could they not "carb back load" to develope a higher glycogen store therefore allowing the body to utilize what glycogen was needed for brain function while maintaining enough for a pump? Also I don't generally wake up flat cause I eat alot of carbs at night and drink water before bed and I intake proper sodium, I wake up lean but that's because my stomach and give tract is mostly empty so I don't have food bloating.

Same.

I drink right till bed and avg a solid gallon and half + per day of water. Carbs are up, even during a cut, I never go low. I will also tend to wake up during the night to piss, thats why my normal morning piss is a bit yellow. Other wise I am clear all day and night.

Carbs before a lift IMO are important as well as taking in carbs during (HBCD during). During the week its easy since I lift after work to have carbs in my system, on the weekend, I will take in carbs about a hour pre and again during. Carbs are energy, not the stimmed energy you get from say caffeine, endurance energy.

Usually wake up around 3-4am to urinate. If I am going to the gym before work, I get up at 3:30-3:45 anyways so I count that as sleeping through the night.

Morning boys, running slightly behind this however because last night last night and in slow motion right now. How you guys doing?

Morning m8t,

In for another day of Misc. entertainment while working away. Feeling pretty sluggish this morning, probably gonna skip lunch to bail out an hour early for the gym today. Love that my boss lets me do this.

I try to always take my lunch just because our days are so long. Typical work day is 9-5 with every other Friday off. The 9/80 split. Brought some leftovers the wife made though, so it'll be pretty good. Eat at my desk, slave away and then bounce early.

On the note of Good Morning emails; 100% guilty haha. Is that not proper? Everyone in my agency does it too.

you get paid for the hour you eat at your desk or just do it out of convenience/preference? inb4 reported to labor board

can't remember the last time I sent a good morning email lmao, but i would do it for the sake of continuity. and like bitty said, it's more appropriate. P sure you're supposed to capitalize the first letter of each word in a greeting anyway

Is Good Morning Capitalized?
How to write “good morning” in an email depends on how you are using the phrase. If you are using good morning as an email greeting at the beginning of your correspondence, capitalize both words. However, this rule doesn’t have anything to do with the phrase “good morning.” It applies because the standard practice is to capitalize the first word and all other nouns in a salutation. For example, you would capitalize “To Whom It May Concern.” On the other hand, if you are using “good morning” as a closing of your letter (though that would be decidedly old-fashioned), it would not be capitalized.

I didnt know if it was, i assumed it was not and only Good because it was the first word and then the pronoun, now i have been enlightened, and it absolulty is correct to capitalize it. Aesthetically it just looks so much better too.

Good luck man, sometimes I love bailing early without the lunch hour. Not like we starve when we do it because we just eat at the desk lol. Technically it is against most labor boards though, and your employer can get big time busted for allowing this. When you work over X amount of hours you absolutely have to take a break.

gonna need pics of archer in the pillow fort. no they were coming out of either commerce or union city, they over nighted them and im not sure why. Most likely what ahpened was i placed an order and they forgot to write it up, then had to scramble to get me the parts in time so they over nighted from northern ca (union city), and forgot to pick up the freight charge. They done goofed tho cause the entire order was only like 98 bucks. This isnt the first time this has happened tho, belee dat.

Yep, thankfully the facility I work out of is me and two other people, and we're all chummy. So the chances of our little lunch arrangement being found out is slim. Although we do have some part-timers….but I'm pretty sure they don't know what the eff is going on like 90% of the time.

I have a bunch of the pdf's from the NSCA 2017 conference I can forward you that are pretty good on nutrition.

Also completely off-topic but from Mike Boyle's functional strength dvd. Here's his standards for somebody that is "strong"

He found that if one's Bench 1RM = chinup 1RM = hand clean 1RM = split squat 1rm] that you are a very well developed athlete/individual/joe.

Bench –> 1.25 to 1.5 of BW
Hang Clean –> 1.25 to 1.5 of BW
Chinup –> 1.25 to 1.5x's BW (BW + external load)
Split –> 1.25BW X 10

For example, I weigh 235. So then 140 DB's in each x 10. That would be ****ing brutal for me lol.

Pretty good standards in my opinion with a some evidence to back up his claims on it all.

The female slide went too fast but it was like
90% BW X 5 for the bench press is very good
Bench 315x1 - Squat 415x1 - Deadlift 515x1 Total = 1,245

3/4/5 Club as of 8-23-2019. Feels good man.

if it says 1rm why must one perform 10 reps? pretty interesting tho. the split squats and hang clean got me. bench 1.5x or more and chin up additional 55 lbs is doable for a few reps.

this is all v interesting. if you still have my email send over the doc's. also when are you going to stop being a lil bish and downlaod the yahoo fantasy app
