I think this gets lost ITT sometimes. I have lower/entry level gear and mid/higher end gear. I obviously prefer the mid/higher end but it all works

Just swapped gas block on my 11.5” BHF upper yesterday and it was a 100% nightmare. I don’t know if they rocksett the gas block screws or what, but absolutely no amount of heat would get them to break loose. Ended up setting the entire upper up in one of the mills here at the shop and literally milling the block off.

Thanks

The listing on BCM's website didn't even mention anything about the gas block. Not that I could find anyway.

Yup. Especially optics.

Optics on the higher end are worth saving up for, and worth the wait. It's too easy to be in a hurry for stuff you don't need in a hurry.

But there are plenty of mid their guns that will be just fine for most people. High tier guns might be more reliable and durable, or they might not. But it's PROBABLY a safe bet that they are.

True. It's rare somebody posts in here that isn't well beyond the already shooting stage. Newer or less aware people are fairly immune to the sht throwing

GBRS and Glover don't hold a candle to much of the industry, not sure why you're putting them at the top of the totem pole.

Ironically, Lucas is the one lying about training guys like GBRS and Glover, so what does that make him?

People getting tied to YT/gun personalities is ****in weird. Whether they're good or bad, all of them have these weird cult followings where people will blindly defend them the second someone even questions them. The **** going on with Lucas ITT right now is a prime example of it. It's okay and fun to like them, but getting mad that someone doesn't agree is just weird and definitely doesn't help the community. Overall, I think Lucas is good for the Second Amendment. He's a ***got for lying about who he trains and an even bigger loser for trying to teach a complex subject he knows nothing about (tactics), but overall he has a more positive than negative influence in the gun industry. If he gets new guys into shooting when they might otherwise not have, that's awesome.

For example, I'm a fan of Garand Thumb. I think he puts out fun and sometimes valuable videos. He's never been deployed and had limited tactical training, so I wouldn't look to him on how to learn combat skills, but he also presents that from the start. He's had some bad moves like teaming up with those retards from Orion Training Group to teach the worst CQB tactics I've ever seen, but overall he's a good influence and, most importantly, knows which lane he's in and sticks to it. I'm excited to see who he will team up with when he begins offering training courses with Onward Research (I'm assuming he will employ trainers and not be a trainer himself lol).

I like GT mostly for his awkward one liners and his wanna be Christian Bale persona. But he always claims he has tons of tactical, recon mission exp etc. so is he just another bull****ter too?

Maybe I've missed that? I haven't seen all of his videos. I know he was a SERE instructor so he undoubtedly knows a lot about reconnaissance based work which is much different than combat. True reconnaissance doesn't involve a single shot ever being fired. His "Deadly in the Mountains" series is definitely solid, but he's not teaching combat tactics in that. I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to or if I've missed other videos.

For example, the CQB video he released was all about teaching CQB tactics but he didn't teach it. He has someone else come on to do that. Now, the guys that did it are ****ing retards and that video was justifiably torn apart, but he didn't teach it. I saw a recent one from him on reacting to ambushes but he had dudes from Spiritus Systems there to teach it. I'd be weary if he takes a more active role teaching this type of stuff, but I hadn't seen that up to this point.

For the record, I don't automatically think someone can't teach tactics if they haven't been in combat themselves. I was a team leader before I deployed and was tasked with teaching some new guys that came in right before we deployed so I've been in the very role I seem to be bashing. That being said, a lack of experience is a massive con and I would look to those people last for teaching. You could sit there and research and train on Battle Drill 1A for years. When it's actually put to the test, things are much different. That experience can't be replaced.

Idk to me Lucas always played the role of civilian firearms enthusiast and stayed in that lane. Never seen him claim to know anything about tactics or try to teach tactics or ever claim to have any kind of fighting background other than supporting 2nd amendment and firearms ownership.

His claim was only ever he taught shooting to some guys. He seems to have humbled himself a bit imo.

But I could be wrong I don’t religiously watch his channel and don’t have Instagram. He just makes shooting videos to sell holsters to kids buying their first Glock19. It’s marketing.

He was caught lying about training current SOF members. He was also putting on training courses for tactics.

Getting caught lying and called out for it isn't humbling yourself lmao.

I'll also question the whole "he's a very, very good shooter" narrative. Relent won't stop gagging on his cock so I had to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out he's got a practiscore account, so "he's a very very good shooter" is a testable hypothesis.

https://practiscore.com/profile/lucas-botkin

You can see his competition profile on practiscore.

His most recent match it looks like he didn't finish for whatever reason: https://practiscore.com/results/html...hCombinedByDiv

Second one, his best stage he took 6th place but for the most part ended up toward the bottom: https://practiscore.com/results/new/...hooter_2738760

Third one doesn't look to be scored.

Fourth one his best stages he took 6th but for the most part was all over the place: https://practiscore.com/results/new/...hooter_2279984

Fifth match he did very well: https://practiscore.com/results/new/...a-1d01c62bb167

Sixth match he did well too: https://practiscore.com/results/new/...hooter_2152849

If I had to guess, the older matches are a case of "big fish, small pond." He's definitely an above average shooter. He's definitely fast. He's clearly not as good as plenty of other competitive shooters as demonstrated by his performance in actual competitions . It's also worth noting that a lot of that speed comes from cutting corners in ways that are unacceptable in professional communities. For example, nobody in the "real world" runs BAD levers. His videos are great for getting people into the 2A community, but adults with experience see this for what it is: entertainment. He's an actor.

I've slowly started going to aluminum mags over the years. Still have a ridiculous amount of Pmags, but for some reason I just like aluminum more. Been buying Duramags and the PSA D&H mags.

Anyone else prefer lancer mags? I am partial to the DD mag too…the extra 2 rounds is a nice perk on those.
My preference is PMAG Gen3 or Lancer L5 AWM opaque

I load my 30 round AR mags to 28 rounds and have for a long time.

I have to kind of lol at the idea that us regular nothing private citizens are going to lose/die because we needed to fire 29 or 30 rounds from one magazine without reloading…0-28 wasn't enough, we didn't need 31, we couldn't reload, we needed 29/30

Oh and I have had "tier 1" mags and rifles where it was literally impossible to seat a 30 round mag loaded to 30 rounds on a closed bolt. Like when I was benching three hundo and I tried for minutes using my full fat bodyweight and functional strength to ram the mag into the rifle leaning against a workbench it wouldn't seat.

EVERYBODY has inserted a mag into the rifle, mounted/shouldered, or fired, and had that mag drop back out on them at some point. Those odds increase dramatically with 30 rounds loaded and inserting on a closed bolt

28 per mag will just have to be enough

Edit: It's not even a matter of needing 29-30. You can put 30 in the mag that's kept in the gun, and all the reloads at 28. So it would actually be 30-31 rounds (or until you choose to reload) from the first mag, then in the 2nd mag 28 isn't enough but 30 would be enough
